The quality of the work was outstanding and the job was completed ahead of schedule. They determined my dryer vent was too clogged to clean and replaced it at no additional cost. They also moved the dryer vent and bricked up the hole left in the side of the house at no additional cost.
I have even seen increased efficiency with my heating. I used to keep my house at 68-70 degrees fahrenheit during the winter. I now keep it at 65 degrees fahrenheit and remain 100% comfortable. I would assume this is due to the fact that there is no longer cold air under the house that pulls heat away from the house. The crawl space is now heated and cooled the same as the inside of the house.
It's a dream to have a vapor barrier installed if you do any work under the house or have water shut-off's under the house. I can freely enter the crawl space (without it being excessively hot or cold), move around easily, and come out just as clean as I went in.
I will admit that the cost of the work was quite a bit more in comparison to other companies, but no one else was going to do anywhere near the amount of work that they did. I still believe the cost was more than fair for the quality of work that was performed.
Lastly, I would encourage anyone to ask for before and after pictures of the work these guys have done.
Once contracted, Matt set a start date a couple weeks out and kept me aware of how things were progressing. They ended up starting a day earlier than initially scheduled. The crew of three arrived on time led by Robert, the crew leader. Matt was on hand to make introductions and get things started right. It took the crew four full days to complete the job.
Matt advised me that I had a couple of plumbing issues. I called my plumber and he was able to complete the repairs prior to the final installation of the floor barrier. Before and after photos are amazing.
With encapsulation, the crawlspace becomes a conditioned space rather than a place to have energy escape into the outside. Its too early to determine the difference it is making in the floor temperatures and overall house heat retention. We do however, notice an improvement in the ability for our house to hold temperature.
A word about working with Matt, The Crawlspace Dr. From the very start to the finish, we were kept aware of the job progress and any issue meriting our attention. The speaks highly for Matt and his Company.
Robert, Hosea and Justin were the men that did all the work in my crawlspace. It took them 3 days to complete the job. The first day they showed up at 8:30am just like they said and cleaned out all the debris in my crawlspace. They put all trash in large contractor type bags and loaded it onto their truck. On day two Robert and Hosea arrived at 8:00am and dug the trench around the perimeter of my crawlspace for the French Drain, raked the crawlspace, blocked off the vents in the foundation, redirected the condensation line from my AC, dug a hole for the sump pit and sump pump and told me that I had a leak and that I should hire a plumber to fix it before they install the vapor barrier. I contacted a plumber the same day and he came out and repaired the problem the next day. On day three all three men arrived at 8:00am and they installed the insulation on the walls, built and installed the crawlspace door, installed concrete pads for the jacks to sit on to support the beams and removed any trash that they had left.
Removed all debris, old insulation, hanging wires, dug a trench around my crawlspace 4 inches wide by 4 to 6 inches deep, then raked my crawlspace making sure their were no sharp object sticking out of the ground were it could puncture the vapor barrier once it was installed, installed a French Drain in my 30' X 30' (900sq.ft) crawlspace, blocked off the foundation vents, redirected the condensation drain line, dug a hole to put the sump pit and sump pump in, installed 1 1/4 inch thick insulation board about 4' long X 10" wide around the walls of my crawlspace, installed concrete pads and jacks under beams to replace wood that had rotted from where another contractor had used to brace wood beam, installed vapor barrier and built and installed a new treated wood crawlspace door. They are very professional and do excellent work. I would definitely hire them again.
We now have a much cleaner and far-better-insulated space, with 15-mil sheeting on the floor.
Very pleased with the work.
The nature of the work done dictates that the results may not be completely evident immediately but I have every confidence that they will be attentive to any issue that may arise. It has honestly been a pleasure to work with them.
I feel very confident in recommending Crawlspace Doctors.
