My condo building endorsed another company & they give us a deal due to volume of service in the building. Regardless, I bought the Cotton offer on Angie's list after reading all the glowing feedback even though I never heard of the company. 2 guys showed promptly. I am happy to get such prompt attention to this as well as the good price. 99.9% sure I did not say anything to offend anyone. Yet I heard plenty of insults about the cooling unit. The main guy (Greg, I think) did most of the talking and work). The other guy (Charles) was pleasant, professional and didn't say as much (likely a trainee). I commend Cotton for listening to my request of not adding any coolant or trying to sell me on any other coolant system. The insults started with the unit being impossible to clean due to water runoff would go on the carpeted floor. I will not comment on anything I do not know, but thought there could be some way to brush a coil or to put plastic down in order to accomplish cleaning. Anyway, that may not be feasible, but once upon a time, another company had the unit apart more and cleaned some way or another without insult. The Cotton inspection this review is about went so quickly but with more insults, that it did not seem as if all the inspection points could possibly have been attended to. So I looked at my copy of the coupon which was exactly like the one I gave your guys. I asked Greg if he did all the inspection points on there, and he said yes. It didn't seem possible, so I looked down the list and saw where they were to change all disposable filters. That was only the 3rd item on the 20 point list and it was not done. I asked and received another insult that 20 x 16 filters were not standard and likely not on their truck. So as they were leaving, I went to their truck with them in case it was and since not on truck was told that one would get dropped off at the condo office for me. This has not happened.
Worthy of mention: I asked more than once about how the unit was cooling. I mentioned it seems to be cooling fine and they confirmed that with me. Regardless the insults didn't stop. As we were leaving down the hall, I mentioned my Dad was an engineer at GE for units like those in the hallways of the condo building. I don't know what I was thinking, but I am proud of my father's accomplishments and of course, Greg had to say he hates GE. That is perfectly ok since he didn't have my respect at all at this point. It just confirmed he was negative to the extent beyond the job he was hired to do.
"Dear Member, I'm sorry to hear that you felt insulted, that is never our intention. I have spoken with both technicians and have learned that your residence is in a high rise building that was initially setup to be a commercial building. Therefore the units are setup for commercial use. Commercial systems are much more difficult to clean and with it being on carpet it cannot be hosed out. Most condensers on residential units are located outside and make it possible for them to be hosed out. I am assuming this is why your condo recommends one company to do the work, as they know your building is setup for commercial and know to come prepared for commercial cleaning. While we can and do clean commercial units they are not included in the Angies List coupon. I understand your condo is residential, however the building that it is located in and the units are considered commercial. Everything that is listed on the inspection sheet you received for A/C is everything that was checked and/or cleaned. All of the items listed on the Angie's List inclusions are located on that sheet. A 20x16 filter is not a standard size and per our Angie's List, we “change standard disposable filters”. Even though your filter size was not included in the special, our technician did drop one by your condo office yesterday when we received it at our office. I believe there must be a misunderstanding about GE. The head technician that was at your property has numerous family members whom have or still work for GE. The company he came from actually had a partnership with GE and I have always heard him speak very highly of GE. I also worked for GE years ago and think very highly of the company and its numerous outreach in the Louisville area. I'm sorry if you felt he was talking negatively about GE at all. I know that was not his intention. Our General Manager whom was the lead technician that day at your condo called you yesterday to apologize for any wrong doing and to let you know that your filter was in and would be dropped off at your condo office. He relayed to me after your conversation that you did not feel insulted and that everything was fine now.
