I then asked where the air conditioner was and I told him but then explained that the furnace he "blew out" was not the furnace for the air conditioner I needed serviced. I showed him where the correct furnace which was upstairs and after looking at it he said he wouldn't need to blow it out (so the fee I paid for the chemical was wasted).
I then took him to the AC and showed him which one it was. He opened the cover and stated that probably the reason it was not cooling well was because it needed cleaned. I left him to his work and went inside. He called me outside and said he had cleaned it and connected his guage to it and it was showing a temperature difference which meant it needed more freon and said it would be another extra charge. I asked how much and he told me $70. Let me say here that he had not made any attempt to determine where the leak was before moving to refill it - this did not occur to me until later. I said Ok and left him to the work again. The next time he called me out he said a fluke had happened and that when he was adding the freon the valve blew out and drained all the freon from the unit. I was now left with 3 guests and no air conditioner. While trying to defend how he had broken my AC unit he told me that he found two of the nuts were loose on the unit - one of which covered the valve that was now broken. He did not say why he did not tighten these nuts before starting to refill the freon. He put a new valve in and said it was still leaking. He said he would have to replace a section of the tubing which included the valve. He would have to give me a price for it and it would include the cost for refilling my AC unit with all the freon because all of it leaked out when the valve blew.
He went to his truck to come up with an esitmate for the repair work and the freon and came back with an estimate of over $900. His next statement was that I could probably get a new AC unit for about the same price and he could have one of their sales people call me with a price.
By that time I was so upset because I had asked for a simple clean and had guests staying and no air conditioner.
I have since tried contacting Mr. Burnett twice but had to leave a message and have received no return call. I am still without a working AC for the upstairs of my house.
"We apologize that you had a bad experience with us. We wish you the best of luck in the future."
Before and after the installation, they went over everything they planned to do and how to use the new thermostat, etc.
The new unit runs as smooth as silk. I keep the fan on all the time and unlike the old system, I can barely hear it running.
