Went to this facility with my pregnant dog, whom we thought was in labor but wanted to ensure she wasn’t due to the fact she needed a c section (Bulldog). The doctor called us, was very condescending to people whom were just trying to keep their pet healthy along with her puppies. We were asked why we brought her, which I would think was obvious. Then I had offered her nurse our girls shot records but she refused them. So she then asked if we had our dog up to date on her shots. She further asked if our dog had a brucellosis test(yes). Then she said why did you bring her, just take her home and let her have them when she’s ready. Bulldogs, most always require a c-section, which is why we went on in. She further told me she hadn’t even looked at my dog yet, but from my answers she’s in early labor. She told me she couldn’t do a c-section. Why are they an emergency clinic then. Why didn’t the receptionist tell me that when I called from home before we left to let them know we were coming. I told her to just bring my dog back to me. We were sent home feeling we were wrong for taking her. I called around for other offices just incase. Luckily I did. I had to go to Indy after being home 20 minutes from leaving blue pearl Louisville. My dog was able to pass the runt in the car as we ran to get her somewhere. the runt whom is half the size of the others. She began pushing again as we were entering Indy. She was unable to get that pup out. The awesome vet office in Indy took her back, said the pups heart rate was low and she needed an emergency c-section. I will never step foot in blue pearl. I even called asking about c-sections after hours while my girl was pregnant. Not once was I told they couldn’t possibly preform one. I will never recommend blue pearl and any of my friends that recommended it, I will make aware of this situation. The doctor there was absolutely horrible, condescending, and obviously didn’t know what she was talking about!

Awesome! Considering our current situation with the "pandemic" I was so nervous to drop my "baby" off and wait in the parking lot. From the first phone call answered by "Austin" then technician "Megan" and finishing with Dr. Z. everyone made us relax. This is his second emergency trip to Blue Pearl and I just want to say, driving from Mount Washington, Kentucky, we choose to travel more miles because of the professional and efficient staff! Two trips and not one complaint! Thank you Blue Pearl for putting my mind at ease tonight!

They attempted to save our pet’s life after our regular vet, Goshen Animal Clinic, neglected to diagnose him in a timely fashion, ignoring numerous warning signs and symptoms. The doctors at Blue Pearl were professional, skilled and compassionate. We would highly recommend them.

The veterinarian and staff at Blue Pearl were amazing. Everything that could be done to minimize our dog's suffering and allow her to die with dignity was done. She was loved and treated so gently by these strangers and my husband and I were treated with such respect and care ourselves in our heartbreak and grieving.
We were taken to a private room with its own outside door. The process was explained in full, our dog was taken away briefly to have a catheter put in and brought back on a soft rug. We were given time to say goodbye to her and when we were ready, she was put to sleep. We were told when she had passed on. Her body was not taken away from us until we were ready, and it was placed in a cardboard coffin to be transported home for burial. Then we were given as much time as we needed to grieve in the room after she'd been taken away. We left by the room's outside door and met the vet in the parking lot. He loaded her body into our car for us and showed us that a heart had been drawn on the box at the end where her head lay.
It was such a sad day but the vet and staff at Blue Pearl eased not only our dog's suffering but our own. A few days later we received a card that had been signed by everyone on staff offering their condolences. We were so touched. These people hadn't met us or our dog before that encounter one Saturday afternoon. I can't say enough about their compassion and caring or how much we appreciate all they did for us and for our dog. For those most difficult times for pets and their owners, I cannot recommend Blue Pearl highly enough.

I noticed a growth on my dogs back leg in the middle of his toe bed. My local vet did a biopsy and the results showed the tumor was a cancerous melanoma. My vet gave me the name of the 2 local vet clinics that perform specialized oncology surgery, I choose Blue Pearl. The staff was lovely and kind. The vet tech was very professional. I then met with Dr. Nestor. He did an exam on my dog and also took xrays of his lungs to make sure the cancer had to spread to the lungs. It had not spread to his lungs which meant my dog was a candidate for surgery. Dr. Nestor was caring and very clearly explained the exam he had done and what he felt the best method of handling the cancer. He suggested surgery to remove the tumor and let me know that one or two of my dog's toes would have to be amputated in order to get the tumor and the areas around it removed from my dog's foot. I also received a write up for my records from Dr. Nestor and a disk of my dog's XRAYs. Dr. Nestor gave me his card and said to please call him if I had questions. I called him 2 days later on a Saturday. He immediately took my call, I asked him all my questions and he patiently gave me the answers. It was at that time I asked him to set an appointment for the surgery ASAP. He was able to schedule it for Monday. I met the board certified Diplomate surgeon, Dr. Mesich, on Monday morning. I was very impressed. She did another exam of my dog, gave me a lot of information on what would occur during the surgery and the length of time my dog would have to stay at the vet hospital. I also had about 10 questions for Dr. Mesich. She was patient and answered all of my questions. I trusted her and knew my dog could not have been in better hands. I left my dog at the vet's to do the surgery that day. Blue Pearl called me just before my dog was taken into surgery. Then, Dr. Mesich called me immediately after the surgery. She gave me all the details, she also found a small lump and was quick to take a biopsy of it to make sure it was not another cancer. She did not feel it was but I liked the idea that she noticed the bump and took the step to biopsy it. I pick my dog up today (the day after his surgery). Dr. Mesich called this morning to tell me how my dog was doing, giving me vitals, telling me that he was eating. She had also just changed his bandage and advised me his foot looked good. My dog is one of the most important things in my life. I love him dearly. It was very difficult to know he had to endure this operation but it was the right thing to do and I couldn't have asked for a more caring facility-the staff-the ICU nurses, Dr. Nestor and Dr. Mesich are fabulous. I won't know the outcome of the tumor biopsy for a few more days. Regardless, I know I picked the best place to have my dog well taken care of the entire time he was there. I am very particular and, as I said, I would not have chosen Blue Pearl if I did not think they were the best as my dog deserves only the best. I am very grateful to everyone at Blue Pearl for treating my dog with care and respect.

One of our dogs got into a scrap with a much larger dog and while he didn't seem to be hurt, he wasn't eating/drinking/going to the bathroom, so we took him to BluePearl. The vet tech was very gentle with him and kept us informed of what was going on in the back. When she realized he might be back there for a while before the vet could see him, she brought him back in to us. Once he was fully examined, the vet gave us his impressions and said he could take x-rays and other tests, but they really didn't appear to be necessary, unless we wanted him to do them he didn't feel they were had to be done. He gave the dog something for nausea and some fluids sub-cutaneously. He said that the dog was probably just sore and sent us home with some pain pills for him - already cut into the appropriate dosage. We were advised if he didn't seem back to normal in a day or so to bring him to our regular vet. They also called me in a couple of days to check on him.

They were great, they saved my Doberman. I was out of town and nobody would take him because I couldn't pay cash, but these people accepted my debit card and charged my debit card and went ahead with the operation that saved my dogs life.

My dog Macy is a rescue of unknown age but we guess 13 to 15 years. She has other problems such as arthritis in her spine which makes her a little nervous about being touched by strangers who don't know where it hurts. Dr Tolar was so sweet with her. Talking to Macy in a calm voice and touching her gently. Macy was very brave during the procedures and let Dr. Tolar do her thing. I was very impressed by Dr Tolar's caring and gentle ways. The procedures worked and now Macy just gets one eyedrop of medicine a day in her bad eye. Dr. Tolar is a veterinary ophthalmologist. You can tell she loves the animals. If Macy ever has eye problems again we will visit Dr. Tolar.

My Chihuahua, Nippy, is 6 years old and weighed 3.6 pounds when we went to see Dr. Rizzo. Nippy was being treated by our regular vet for 4 years for Pancreatitis. His symptoms were frequent vomiting, lethargy, poor appetite. He was suffering more than half of the time, and we worried that his life would be shortened if we didn't get more help than just the regular vet giving us a mild stomach relaxer. We found LVSE while Nippy was having a really bad day, vomiting blood and very lethargic. Our regular vet didn't seem to have time so we took Nippy to LVSE on an emergency trip. They made an appt. with Dr. Rizzo for a few days later. Dr. Rizzo ordered tests to be done, one including blood work to rule out Pancreatitis. Thank goodness! Not only did we find out that Nippy didn't have Pancreatitis, it appeared he had a bacterial infection in his stomach. He was put on antibiotics and pepto bismal for 30 days. Before the end of the 30 days, Nippy became a new dog!! He began eating, alot! He was playing again! He was happy, and we were ecstatic! It has been 3 months since he finished his meds, and he has gained one pound. Not a lot for most of us, but for a dog weighing only 3 pounds to begin with, this is a huge amount. He has grown hair on his chest, neck and sides of his head, which were always bare. He has a healthy full coat of hair, which he had never had before. He is happy, and healthy for the first time in so many years. Dr. Rizzo took the time to run tests, and take his time to figure out what was ailing Nippy. I cannot express our gratitude enough!!! I wish my own doctor was as thoughtful and thorough as Dr. Rizzo!!

I went to LVSES because my dog was experiencing problems walking and I thought she had injured her leg. I called LVSES and they assessed the situation over the phone to be sure I was coming to see the correct doctor. They determined I should see Jackie Sharp, the pain management specialist, which was congruent with what my vet recommended. When I got to LVSES, Jackie came out to escort us to the exam room. I was really glad she did, because this enabled her to see the difficulty my dog had walking. Within a few minutes Jackie determined my dog may have a neurological problem and called in Dr. Wolf, the neurology specialist. Jackie and Dr. Wolf spent a total of about 2 hours examining my dog. The exam was very thorough and professional and they were both wonderful with my dog. However, I was only charged for one exam. Dr. Wolf determined my dog may have a bulging disk in her spine and would be a good candidate for surgery. The next step was to do blood work to make sure my dog was in good health before we made a final decision on the treatment. The blood work determined my dog had significant kidney disease and I had to take her to my regular vet for IV fluid treatment and other medicines. This all happened within a week. Dr. Wolf called every few days to check the progress of my dog. While talking to Dr. Wolf about my dogs condition one day, I mentioned how difficult it was to transport her (she weights 75 lbs. and can barely walk due to the disk issue). She wanted to do a final follow up exam at no charge and offered to meet me at my regular vet's office during my appointment after hours (5:30) to save me from having to transport her again. I would highly recommend Jackie or Dr. Wolf if you have need of their services at LVSES. Dr. Wolf was absolutely awesome the entire time, and was extremely knowledgeable as well as caring. She was also professional and thorough and did not hesitate to answer any questions I had. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty, and now that my dog has additional health issues, she thought that surgey may not be in her best interest anymore. She truly had my dog's best interest at heart. Thanks Dr. Wolf!! I truly appreciate all you did.

I am OVERJOYED with my experience at LVSES! My 14 year old Lab mix has horrible arthritis and I decided to take her to LVSES after reading an article about vet stem therapy, hoping it could help relieve her symptoms. I initially corresponded with Dr. Day via e-mail and he gave me a pretty thorough run down on how the procedure worked and its various outcomes. I was able to get an appointment for the date and time I requested. Due to my dog's arthritis I requested a cart so I could roll her into the exam room and Dr. Day's technician actually carried my 55 pound 'baby' into the room! During the exam Dr. Day manipulated different joints on my dog and determined that her arthritis was primarily in her knees. Even better, he also suspected my dog had a thyroid condition which could possibly be the culprit for her hair loss and arthritis. Dr. Day suggested a blood test so he could provide a more accurate diagnosis and advised he would get back with me within a week. Dr. Day provided me with more information and treatment options in one visit than I ever received in all the other visits with my usual vet. If you are looking for a competent, professional, well-rounded vet, particularly one with pain management experience, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Day. I'm so sorry I don't recall his assistant's name but I admire any woman who can scoop up a 55 pound dog in her arms!
