Animal Training Service
It was a bit pricey, but the training comes with a lifetime guarantee and was worth the cost. Doug Rountree, the owner, was very helpful and informative, he established a good rapport with the dogs almost immediately, and we enjoyed dealing with him from start to finish. He also used a humane approach when working with the dogs which we really appreciated.

Animal Training Service
The first visit started with an overview of the Bark Busters training techniques along with how/why they work. After the intro, we jumped right into the training! The first visit was about 3 hours in length and we saw an immediate change in our dog Levi. After the training was over, Levi just wanted to sleep, he was exhausted! We were given and quot;homeworkand quot; to do over the next couple of weeks until Doug's next visit. During the next visit, we reviewed our progress on the and quot;homeworkand quot; and tackled new behaviors to work on over the next couple of weeks. This visit lasted about an hour. The third and final visit was a review of how the training was going along with any final behaviors that we wanted to correct.
This training was a life saver for us. We have 3 children and my wife stays home with them. Before the training we felt like we had a fourth child with poor behavior and my wife was very stressed. This training changed the way our dog Levi behaved and also changed our understanding of how to train our dog. There are many things that dog owners do that are actually reinforcing the negative behaviors they are trying to change. This training helped us understand how our dog and quot;thinksand quot; and establish ourselves as the pack leaders in the home.
Here are some of the things our 8 month old puppy does now:
- Goes to his bed (crate) and stays there with the door open when we tell him to. We do this during dinner time so he doesn't roam around under the table looking for food that the kids drop. He will stay in his bed until we tell him and quot;Freeand quot;.
- If we drop food and tell Levi to and quot;leave itand quot;, he will stand there and wait until we tell him to and quot;take itand quot;.
- He no longer jumps all over visitors! This was our biggest issue. He still reverts to his old behavior occasionally, but we quickly correct the issue when it comes up. He is a puppy after all.
- He walks on a lead and does not walk ahead of me. He walks right next to me and follows my lead. I keep slack in the leash (no pulling). He still gets excited when we see other dogs, but we are working on this.
- He follows me around the house including walking up and down stairs. He no longer darts ahead of me.
- He will sit and stay at a safe distance while I open the front door. He no longer darts out the door as soon as we open it.
These are the biggest improvements that come to mind. This training was well worth the money for my family. I highly recommend Bark Busters and Doug Roundtree.
