My wife and I had ADC Paving resurface our asphalt driveway in September 2018. It took about a month after we received our estimate from the Company to schedule and complete the job. This was due to ADC's busy schedule and some special circumstances. Cindy did a great job coordinating the schedule and was very responsive via email to get us on the schedule. When the ADC crew arrived, they were very professional, very efficient and did a wonderful job. We have a small driveway with no difficult sections and the job took about 1 1/2 hours. I feel comfortable recommending ADC Paving for other people's asphalt needs.

I called and left messages with the owner and the president for three weeks. Sent them pictures also and finally had to threaten to take action before they finally returned my phone calls. First, I was told they would completely redo my driveway by spreading a thin layer of asphalt over the entire driveway. Several days later they called and said they would instead reseal the entire driveway and build a curb and it would look just like a new driveway and also take care of all the water issues. Also, I was told I could drive on the driveway in 24 hours.
On the last date they were at my home, June 24, their second attempt to correct their originally laid, botched driveway, was again unsuccessful with terrible results. The seal coat never cured or stuck properly, leaving marks, gouges, and spots throughout the entire driveway. My driveway still has numerous areas of ponding water, asphalt is cracking, grass is growing up through the asphalt in areas where they obviously went beyond the original driveway with their asphalt, and I have very visible, patches and saw cut marks with deep cuts where they had tried to patch their mistakes previously. They have never responded to my phone calls or pictures I have sent them, since that same date.
In summary, I contracted Asphalt Driveways Company to repave my driveway for $3,880 which was comparable to my other estimates, but they had an A rating on Angie's List and also attached a super service award from Angie's list to the contract along with a separate page stating their Core Values, which included respect, integrity, dedication, and excellence. I can assure you, none of those traits were shown when they arrived at my home or in any conversation I had with anyone who worked there. They were rude, unprofessional, unqualified, and unethical. I paid them in full the first time they completed the job because the job foreman insisted my contract required me to do so even though I told him the work wasn't right, but he stated they would come back to correct any issues Immediately. Of course, I regret having done so, just like I regret ever having hired them in the first place. And I am astonished and disturbed that they are still an A rated company on your site....just like they were when I hired them! I find that impossible to believe, actually.
So, here it is a year later, I have waisted countless hours, not to mention thousands of dollars, and my driveway looks like crap and still needs to be resurfaced, I've spend time and money repairing all the property damage they have done, and still have more repairs to be completed from the damages they recklessly did while attempting to perform a simple driveway repaving. And supposedly they have been in business doing nothing other than asphalt driveways since the 1950's? Really?

Response from ASPHALT DRIVEWAYS COMPANY
"ADC Paving made several attempts, by the members own admission, to satisfy their issues. Unfortunately, all companies that offer a service to the public experience at some point or another a customer that you just cannot make happy. We acknowledged their issues and made every effort (on multiple occasions) to resolve them There came a point where we realized no matter what we tried, this customer was not going to be satisfied."

I would not recommend them. Their service was terrible, the follow up was terrible and they had to come out and redo their work and it still wasn't right. It wasn't good quality at all. I got what I paid for because they were a cheaper bid. The people that came were professional except for the woman in the office.

Challenging driveway but it was not a problem for this crew!. They arrived early to work. Kevin and the crew were professional, polite and gave me an estimate on time needed to complete the job. All my questions and concerns were answered and addressed before the work began. Kevin and the crew worked very well together and completed the job before schedule! Kevin gave me all the information I needed as to when the driveway would be ready to use. It looks fabulous! I can't wait until Friday when we are able to use it! I will post another review on how well our new driveway functions. I found this company to be very customer friendly!

Work was great. Communication and punctuality leave a lot to be desired. Most recently have tried to call to have someone come out and look at a problem with my driveway but that was 5 weeks ago and still nobody has bothered to call me or show up. Made several phone calls with no luck.

This company is terrific. First they did a terrific job on repaving our driveway. We got 3 bids, and they were the most reasonable for this major project. Then we had them back to seal the driveway after about year. it looks great. They sealed the few small cracks that developed over the harsh winter we had and then put down a heavy coat of sealant over the entire surface. I would recommend them highly to anyone who needs a driveway paved, repaved or sealed.

The job itself was great. The sales weren't so good. The crew told us that we needed other stuff done rather than doing the job so I found that very ethical. They did what they were supposed to do and they didn't leave a mess. We spent about $1000. It's a little bit tricky to get them scheduled because it depends on the kind of weather condition.

This company is what is wrong with service providers today. This used to be a great company, one of the highest reviewed asphalt companies in Louisville, but now its under new leadership and sadly is being run into the ground. Check some of the other reviews about no call backs for estimates and other issues, if they wont call back for an estimate good luck getting the work done on time. I for one and sick of people buying respected names and then running them into the ground while taking in as much cash as possible. I hired this company to repave a driveway which sounds simple enough, but the following review will give a brief oversight into the next 2 years of my life with these people. I do want to be very clear, this will be a brief version of events. At the end the owner and I have exchanged over 150 emails, 20+ voice calls in which most are recorded and 3 in person meetings all of which are recorded, in one of the recordings he openly admits fault for the bad install not to mention we had a written contract for the repair work. All of this ultimately ended in a lawsuit in Jefferson County courts. Please take my horror story and avoid this place at all costs, there are so many better choices in Louisville than this group at the same prices.
One thing my wife wanted to make sure I wrote about near the top before most people stop reading this lengthy review was a statement the partners made during one of our meetings. I made a comment after a few options were laid out in front of me that I wanted to go over them with my wife before making a decision, their response was "What a joke, why would you need to speak to her first? I followed up asking why that seemed strange and in return I got a harsh comment about how women didn't have a place in these types of decisions. I wont type exactly what they said due to extremely harsh phrasing, but it changed our opinion of them from that moment forward. I believe my wife has equal say in our house, she works and contributes money and time into the upkeep of our house and believe that deserves a bit of respect. Keep in mind when this happened we were already months in and not happy with each other, there is no reason to assume if you are women he will disrespect you to your face while writing a quote, just know before hand what he really thinks about you. He is very behind the times. Lets move on
Lets take a quick look at all the issues that are mentioned in the contact for repair. Waving uneven finish, crooked and fragile edges, they ran asphalt over all my landscape bricks ruining them and 100's of pits larger than my thumb. Every issue began within the first month.
It started in Aug '12 with a quote, everything seemed fine and out of the three we got they seemed to the best choice. They were late the day of the install by nearly 3 hours, they workers left trash and pieces of materials for the job in the yard which fell on my shoulders to clean up. The install looked ok the first day but noticed the edges weren't straight but rather looked wavy, didnt think to much of it. The next week we stayed off of it while it cured and hardened but the first time I drove on it I realized it was seriously flawed, it was unever all over. As I drive over it I can feel the car moving back and forth like my tires were out of balance. We made a call over to the company which took multiple days to get a call back, I explained the issue and was told someone would come out to look at it. Days later someone showed up when i specifically said I WOULDN'T be there, the return call came shortly explaining how perfect the install was. I explained I wanted to be there and they did make another trip out, but once in person the tone was different. I showed them everything including the crooked edges and they ultimately agreed to repave the whole driveway, I was shocked but that excitement would be short lived. A few weeks later all of the edges started cracking all the way around the driveway, in some areas so bad I could take a huge section out and see they overlapped my yard instead of just staying on the old asphalt. I called the owner and explained the findings and he said he would take care of it when they repaved. Everything so far is perfect. I even explained in our first face to face meeting that I wasn't upset about the issues as long as they get resolved and he seemed very appreciative and kind about it. We wrote up a new contract for the replacement and he went on his way.
This is where our problems started
Shortly after our agreements were done, his partner (Roger) called and started tearing me apart over the phone about how much this was going to cost to repair, he went on for close to 10 minutes. After that call I knew we were in trouble, I immediately called the owner (Kevin) and explained what happened but he all of the sudden sounded like we was on Rogers side. I told him we had already agreed on the repairs and we had it in writing plus I made a voice recording of the meeting as I do with most of my meetings. He said he would honor it and that was that. They made one more trip out to my house, I got to meet roger at this one. To no ones surprise be blew up at me at my house, I clearly told him to calm down or get off my property and he calmed down. Roger was not on board with repaving the whole driveway, he just wanted to patch the worst spots. I was very clear the contract was signed and done and it wasn't up for debate, the whole driveway does need full replacement and I didn't want a new driveway to have patched spots everywhere. I hope I'm not alone on this, I paid for new I want new, not patched and bandaged.
Over the next 10-11 months were full of "missed" appointments and arguing from them on the work they felt they should do, but I stuck to my guns and our written contract on what the expectation was and pushed forward, patching was never going to be an option. Finally after 13 months I said I want my money back, the new driveway or we are going to court. after that 13 months the driveway was alot worse then when all this started, and I was starting to get really upset. His response was "i'll see you in court, get the ball rolling". At this point I assumed he thought I was joking, but I am a man of my word. I ventured into my first lawsuit with a friend\lawyer to explore options, I handed over all my recordings, emails, photos and the contract. He took a few days to review it all (150emails\20-25recording), he recommended moving forward. We sent him one letter still giving him the opportunity to do the right thing and make good on his word, he did not. We filled a lawsuit the following week.
The lawsuit has been horrible, its my first time dealing with this so I didn't quite know what to expect. He would promise us a settlement offer then it never showed, he delayed two different court dates ultimately holding this up for one year since our file date. The day before our trial date, my lawyer got a call from his and he settled out of court. I don't know if I can disclose the actually amount, but we were happy. We got all of our money and fees back, it took 2 years and a whole lot of patience but I feel great, its a weight that has been on my shoulders for a while and it's almost over. You may be wondering why I say almost? We settles 18 days ago, he had 10 to pay... We don't have a check yet. Even after everything, offering a settlement and us accepting he still refuses to pay. Just a crook
There is alot more to the story, this was a brief as I could make it. Please learn from this. Don't pick this company. ADC used to be a great asphalt company, but this new owner just doesn't care.

"Typical of this customer...the settlement check was mailed on 6/2/14, check number 3153 and was cleared our bank on 6/11/14. Through this entire matter, we have done what we said we would do until the customer continually changed the rules. End of story."

Great experience - Estimator was helpful and professional. Over 4000 sq. feet of driveway - some of it bordered by stone walls. I was most impressed with the expertise of the company and the crew. Very satisfied with the work. Given everything that had to be done and the amount of material involved, I thought the price was very reasonable.

Estimate as prompt but took forever to schedule the work. The patch work was not complete., they returned and completed it to my full satisfaction. Took quite a while and a number of calls to get the seal completed. The office staff was extremely helpful, polite and responsive.

From start to finish, ADC was extremely professional and easy to work with. I called based on their reviews on Angie's List and they scheduled an appointment within a few days. The presented us with a very thorough evaluation and gave us several options ranging in price from $400 to $2250. We determined we needed a whole new driveway so we went with that. We had several other quotes done and ADC was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the other quotes. We signed the contract and they informed us that it can take up to 4 weeks to get them in because they were busy (which I consider to be a good sign). However, they managed to squeeze us in in just over 2 weeks. I went to work and my husband was home and watched the whole thing! He said they explained what they were going to do and he was very comfortable with what they planned on doing. They arrived around 11 a.m. and were completed about 3-4 hours later. And it looks amazing! I'm somewhat embarrassed to be so excited about a driveway but it looks terrific. They ended up adding around 2 inches of asphalt because it was in such bad shape. They also had to remove a significant part of the existing driveway because of the damage and now it is all even. The edges are perfectly straight and clean and it's beautiful. They even cleared out a bunch of foliage, which I know they had to do to do the job but they made everything look so nice and neat. Greatly GREATLY improved our property and I would highly recommend them.

They were very responsive in coming out to estimate the project
and always professional. Because we
quoted the project it the fall of last year they were not able to complete the
work due to fall and winter weather but held the work order over and completed
this year.
The work involved excavating the dirt from the yard area adjacent
to the drive way putting down a proper bed, laying the asphalt, joining it to
the existing drive and haling off the excess dirt.
Everything was done perfect, in fact they did no yard damage
at all other that what was intended!
Great job, would use them again.

Drive looks great. They completed in about 8 hours. Cleaned up after the paving was completed. Only problem we have is a low spot near the kitchen steps. It will not be a problem except in the winter when the temp drops below freezing.

ADC re-paved my driveway in April 2012. It was in horrible shape prior to their service, but looked awesome after they re-paved it. I was told to wait a year to seal it & planned to do that myself. However, I didn't get it re-sealed but ADC sent an offer to do it a year later for $250. They did a super job & it looked like new again. The reasons I gave B's for quality & professionalism: I don't have a superior lawn, but if I did I would have been upset for the damages done to it during both services. I didn't appreciate the men throwing their cigarette butts into the fresh ashphalt as well. On the the whole, they deserve an A & I will probably ask them to seal my driveway each year.

These guys were great. I originally contracted to have my driveway expanded and repaved in the fall. Unfortunately, I ran into a problem with a leaking water line under the driveway and kept having to put them off until it was repaired. Finally they came out and tore out the old driveway and laid gravel only to find that the ground was too saturated and needed to dry out before paving. I was fine with this since I wanted the job done right. It was their recommendation that we let it sit until spring. That was a great move. Over the winter the ground dried out and the gravel settled. They came back in March and added more gravel and had the job done quickly.
While doing the job, the driveway was inadvertently made a few inches too wide and crossed the property line onto my neighbors yard. I didn't notice it right away so when I called about it a few days later they came out and took care of the problem. I was amazed at the quality of the repair. It looks great.
Great Job Guys.

The crew arrived on-time and the job foreman looked over the job and told us an alternative plan that would provide greater base stability (we have a motorhome and were anxious about parking it on the blacktop), and would save approximately $1,000 under the original estimate. I very much appreciated this and we decided to go with the optional install. I made sure they didn't need me for anything further and then left for work. I returned home to a new, professional blacktop driveway.

The outcome was excellent. They were on time, on schedule, and on budget. The workers were very informative and did a great job. They actually have an estimate and used more asphalt than in the estimate and didn't charge anything extra. I would recommend them.
