Unfortunately this was the worst experience we have ever had with any contractor or service provider, and the amount of time we had to spend to just get what we ordered right and have them address it was unacceptable. We ordered our door in May 2016 and were told it would take approximately 4-6 weeks to arrive and then install. After 8 weeks we had to follow-up with AWD and our sales person, Andy, and eventually were able to get an install scheduled the second week of August, about 10 weeks from our original order. The install was completed by a sub-contractor of AWD by a guy named Randy and was done well, however upon completion we noticed that the side-lights of the door they installed had a different metal color than the door itself and what we ordered. After numerous calls to AWD we had to eventually talk to the manufacturer's service rep and they arranged for the door to be re-ordered and fully replaced. By the end of September we still had not heard back about our replacement and had to engage again in continued back and forth communications between the installer, AWD and the manufacturer to get an update and work to get the original installation fixed to what we ordered. Finally on October 10th the second door was installed, this time with the appropriate side-lights, however upon inspection we found that the new door was cut an inch too short with light visible at the top of the door! We again had to engage in numerous back and forth discussions with AWD, the installer and the manufacturer, the manufacturer rep had to come out yet again and confirm the door was too short, which they did, and then they had to order a third door. As we approached the Thanksgiving holiday we still did not have our third door, nor confirmation on when it would be available, and finally had to threaten to involve an attorney if AWD didn't follow through on our contract and the amounts already paid. The third door was finally installed in early December, however the door did not have the screw inserts on the interior installed nor were they stained. This meant the screws on the interior were exposed and the caps that were left behind were unfinished and did not match the interior! At this point we were so sick of the lack of quality, attention and back and forth that we hired a separate contractor to eventually finish the work. We have used many contractors and providers over the years, but our experience with AWD was by far and away the worst we have ever had and the closest we came to having to engage in legal action to just receive what we paid for. During the entire process AWD was unresponsive, lacked accountability or urgency, and ultimately didn't care about how well or quickly this was done. We rarely write negative reviews and usually have a very lenient take on issues/errors as long as they are addressed appropriately, but this entire process was so burdensome, poorly managed and poorly done that I want to ensure others do not have the same experience we did.
Description of Work: We hired AWD to install a new front door on our home. As the original door was solid wood and we do not have/want a storm door, top quality was paramount and we wanted the best available product and installation to ensure the front of our home continued to look great. After having a number of vendors come out we determined that we wanted a ThermaTru door as they looked the most like real wood while providing a longer warranty and more durability. We hired AWD as we wanted to have a contractor focused on doors and windows vs. the greater risk of a sub-contractor through a "big-box" store.
