Alex is fantastic.  His ability to alter a tuxedo four sizes lower was brilliant.  Neither my husband, son, or others I talked to could believe it could be done.  I found him a year ago when I needed a leather jacket altered to fit better.  No one else is town was able to  work with leather alternations.  It, too, was done beautifullly.

Velvet presents a lot of challenges but he did  beautiful work!

I needed one top altered where the seam has fallen apart. This seemed like a very detailed and challenging alteration but it was done beautifully. I also needed a dress altered. It had a detailed embroidery on the front and a few of the strands were coming out. I needed them either trimmed and tied off or sewn back it like the dress was originally. This was not done properly at all. Honestly the dress came back looking exactly the same. Wish I had noticed in the shop because I would have left it there to be redone. Instead I will continue getting my alterations done at Nordstrom Rack where everything has always been done properly and affordably.

Getting suit to look good on a big man( size 56) is a talent to start with.
After Alex ( the GREAT) got done with the one I handed him for a rush job it looked and felt like it had been made for me for me custom.
I mean when I was just putting on the sleeves of the sport coat( jos banks if other big and tall's are looking) I knew then it was perfect the man is very professional but at the same time with lots humor.
I would highly recommend him to any one if h can make us big guys look good imagine what he can do for the rest of you!!!

My son-in-law had a suit that needed to be altered....pants shortened, and altered through the suit coat, including sleeve length. Took it in on a Saturday, and it was finished by the following Thursday. Extremely prompt service, and very easy to get along with. My daughter says........we have found our tailor! We would trust him with any alteration that would be needed! Also, the price was outstanding!

Alex is THE BEST tailor in Louisville!! Have been to others, but his suggestions and attention to detail is incredible. I had a very expensive blazer that I bought in a beautiful blue nubby wool fabric {lined}, but it was a bit big on me. Just needed to be taken in, but there were the pockets, back vent, and other things to consider. It is hard for me to find clothes that fit me...tall, thin, long arms, but he tailored that blazer to fit me like a glove. I have also used him on hemming 2 pairs of jeans. Would never know that it was not an original seam, he is that good. Definatly use him again!

The women's pants were badly altered at another shop; Alex tried to repair the damage. He redid the pants twice and did all he could, but the damage done was beyond repair. I do not fault Alex and am sorry he spent so much time trying to make things right. My husband was pleased with his shorter pants. The only negative I would say is that our clothes came home with a fragrance on them. Since I am allergic to most fragrance I had to immediately laundry the items. I don't know if he sprayed something on the clothes or what. I did not notice the smell in the shop itself. I plan to say something to Alex the next time I go about this because he really should be informed that a scent is not always welcomed by his customers.

I arrived without an appointment, which was no problem. He quickly and efficiently pinned the skirt to mark it for alteration. We had a pleasant (but not excessively lengthy) chat as he prepared the pick-up ticket, and I was on my way. A week later, the skirt was ready, as promised, and it now fits properly! The alteration was not complicated (the skirt was pretty simply made and I just needed it taken in at the waist), but the skirt is lined so it was more than I could do myself. I'm glad to find a good tailor in the area - I'll definitely take more work to him in the future.

Mr. Alex was very professional and my shirt and slacks fit wonderfully after the alterations. I will be taking more of my clothing to him in the future.

Around January or February, I decided to "grow up" my wardrobe and start dressing more professionally. This also meant learning how clothes should fit me rather than just buying off the rack. I'm a short guy, 5'5", so its not always easy to find clothes that fit right without a little tailoring. I was nervous because I didn't want to spend too much, but I wanted to have everything done just right. I would hate to have a brand new shirt or a favorite old one ruined after tailoring. After calling around, I found Alex. He had just moved into a new shop in St. Matthews. After bringing by my first few shirts (and a sport coat) to him and seeing the results, I was hooked! I've never felt more comfortable or confident in my clothes. Not only is every piece perfect, but the prices are always fair. He'll often give me advice on how something is supposed to fit me or whether it is worth keeping something or getting it tailored. I bought two suits I was considering and brought both to get his opinion on which fit the best and was worth having tailored. My wife even started bringing her clothes to him. I initially found it amazing that he had minimal digital foot print. Google his shop and all you find are Yellow Pages listings. Don't let that fool you. He is always busy with many loyal customers he has had for years. I'm sure for many of us, he's "our guy." As a long time user of Angie's List with no reviews, I felt it was time to share my experiences with his services. As a professional man (or woman), you won't be disappointed.
As an aside, the $150 listed above is for my last tailoring with Alex. I brought by several shirts. However, I've spent much more than that, having three suits, two sport coats, a few pairs of pants, and many shirts tailored by Alex.
