This is the second time I have used A Professional Installation and I am happy to say I couldn't ask for anything better than what Bruce provides. He's  capable, shows up when he says he will and is fair in his prices. I think that's all any reasonable person should expect. . As I expected,  the cost was in line with what I thought it would be  for a job that took about an hour.

Initially Bruce was responsive.  He came out an gave us an estimate for the work that needed to be accomplished.  He was patient when we asked for several modifications on the price quote (adding and deleting specific tasks, etc.), and we greatly appreciated his willingness to work with us and help us figure out what we needed.  Once we had decided exactly what we wanted him to complete, we recontacted him to schedule the work.  The first day he was scheduled to come out, he had to cancel because he was feeling under the weather.  He did come on the second try and completed the work agreed upon, although he seemed much grumpier this day than when we first met him (maybe he was still feeling under the weather, we were not sure).  He also did not clean up after he completed the work -- dust, bits of wiring, and plastic pieces were left laying around on the basement floor.  He had moved a few items that are typically stored near the circuit panel and did not put them back when he had finished with his work.  This was not a big issue for us, but was disappointing and seemed a bit unprofessional.  When the inspector came out to inspect the work, it did not pass.  We then needed Bruce to return to the house to fix the problem.  After a series of voicemail messages and phone tag, we reconnected and set a date to fix the problem.  On the day he was scheduled to come back out, Bruce showed up more than one hour later than the agreed upon time (with no advance phone call to let us know that he was running behind schedule).  It did not take him too long to fix the problem, and he assured us that he would recontact the inspector.  This promise was made over three weeks ago and we still have not received a call from inspector.  We're not sure who dropped the ball (Bruce or the inspector), but we also have not received a follow-up call from Bruce to make sure that everything ended up okay after his second visit.  All in all, a very drawn out and rather frustrating process.  It looks like we will have to try to figure out who to call to get the inspector to come back out and finally approve the work.

"Sorry about the dust left behind, i did clean up after the job was complete. I checked with Metro on Friday and the inspection request that was made a couple of weeks ago did not go through but has been setup for sometime this week. When inspection request are made online we don't get a conformation that the inspection was made unless we have a problem on the job. [member name removed] was the contact person for the inspector and should have let me know that the inspector had not been by to make the final inspection. The problem with the inspection was related to the inspectors misunderstanding of bonding means. The job was installed correctly he just wanted separation of neutrals and ground wires."

Our light fixture had quit working weeks ago. I had called other electrical firms and had trouble getting them to show up. I found A Professional Installations on Angie's List, and Bruce showed up promptly the next morning. He tested the switch, which was good, then found a loose wire in the ceiling. He was very professional. I highly recommend A Professional Installations.

I have worked with this company before. He always does great work. I look forward to using him again. At heart, I'm pretty cheap. So, I'm never really thrilled at his rates. But, I am always confident that the work he does is top-notch. He stands by his work and it shows. I've never had a problem with his work needing to be "re-done". And, I would prefer to pay his rates knowing that he does the work correctly the first time. For this cooktop installation, I called him to describe the work needed. He asked me some questions over the phone to ensure that I had the right parts needed for the installation. Because it was a small job and my schedule was flexible, we loosely scheduled some time to have the work done. When we firmed up the schedule the next day, he showed up promptly when he said he would. He was friendly and cleaned up all of the installation materials. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience.

Most of the electricians I contacted wanted to charge a fee just for the estimate. He was one of a very few who did not. He may have changed that since I had my job done. Always ask. I would recommend him and will contact him for any future electrical work I may need. He was very professional and did my job without any helpers. Although I knew the work he was doing required a permit based on the information I had gotten from the local regulatory agency's website, when I asked him about it he said it wasn't required. To be fair, the permit requirements had been recently changed and he honestly may not have known about them. That's really no excuse and he should stay current with permit requirements
