He claims to be a custom home builder, but he really is not; he is a spec home builder. He is completely inexperienced, dishonest, arrogant, and uncompromising. The biggest problem was that he never supervised any of his workers. He didn't provide us with the contracts that he had made with the subcontractors. He claimed that he had a quote for the lumber package on our home, but when the bill came-in, it was $15,000.00 more than expected. He then fessed-up that he never had a quote for the package. The Lexington Home Builders Association was of little help in this matter. The reason is because they have little authority, as they are only an advisory group. Additionally, he put a lean on our house since we didn't pay him the final payment, since he hadn't finished the work yet. We ended up having to hire a lawyer. We have lived in this house for a little over two years. In the course of this time, we have had 5 water leaks that have resulted in damage. One of the leaks, which occurred 3 days after moving-in, was so bad that we had to move out of the house, so that the floors (including sub-floors) could be replaced. As he stood with the water over his shoes, he said that since the house was finished, it wasn't his problem. He told us that we could hire him as a subcontractor to do the repairs, if we wished.
