It seems every time we visit Tates Creek Animal Hospital they try to and quot;up selland quot; us. They have suggested, expensive cat food that they sell in their office (doctor even disparaged our current brand) and a steroid medication that seems to lessen her symptoms but never seems to fix the problem.
When we first brought her in the doctor proscribed a steroid. When the cat got worse they did about $1000 worth of work and prescribed more the same. The vet may be fine but I feel like our relationship is mildly antagonistic.

Response from TATES CREEK ANIMAL HOSPITAL
"[member name removed], First let me thank you for being our client since 2002. We hope to serve you again in the future. We are sorry if you have ever felt you were being "up sold", that is never our intention here. We do and will continue to try to educate our clients in regards to your pets needs, all current and new recommendations that can increase, not only the quantity of your pet's life but also the quality of your pet's life too. Unfortunately, you have a pet that suffers not only from Allergic Bronchitis, but also life threatening Asthma attacks, Heart issues, High blood pressure and Chronic Lung Disease. Sadly, there is no CURE for any of those conditions and only medications to help alleviate pain and symptoms. And adjusting their medication needs depends on the severity of the breathing attacks. Dr. McClain can discuss newer medications with you, if the current treatment is not helping your pet. As with all our clients, you may chose symptomatic treatments verses diagnostic testing at any time. We only try to give you all the options your pet has. It is always up to you to pursue which course of action we take. Unfortunately we can not guarantee your pet may never again need testing like x-rays, EKGs, or Ultrasounds that we did in the past but we respect your right to decline anything we recommend. Please feel free to discuss all your options. If you would like Dr. Bev to call you at any time please let us know. Again, thank you for being our client for almost 12 years now, and if we can help [member name removed] in any way please let us know."

You can ask questions and they listen to you. When I had a problem they came and picked up the dog for me. He is really great and all the people are great there too.

They are very knowledgeable in the types of things they treat. Dr. McClain really seems to understand how the owners are feeling about the care of their pets. He wants to make sure they are calm and understanding of what is going on. He is very nice and friendly to deal with.

I have been here several times before. Actually one of my dogs needs pills so I go there to get her prescriptions filed and things. Another one of my dogs has ear problems so I take her here all the time. They are very nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The doctor listens to me, which some veterinarians do not. We just talk about methods of treatment and stuff. I feel that all veterinarians are high. Really, there is not much you can say about that.
