I have used Stivers for over 10 years. They serviced my furnace, replaced my air conditioning unit, and rerouted ductwork. They use to do an excellent job. However, the service man attempted to scam me during the last furnace check. The service technician that came to inspect and service the furnace informed me that the furnace was blowing out carbon monoxide gas and I needed a new furnace. I have wired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on each floor and in the garage. So I asked him why the alarms had not gone off, why the furnace was still blowing air and where was it leaking. The technician said that the pipe was cracked so he shut off the gas, red tagged the furnace, and turned the blower on high. The blower was blowing cold air and it was cold outside. He then told me that he could install a new furnace for $3,500 but he had to do the job that day or he wouldn’t be able to get back for several weeks. I thanked him and declined having the furnace replaced. When he left, I called the gas company. They came immediately. They found no problems with the furnace. The pipe was not cracked and there was no sign of a carbon monoxide leak. They suggested that I call another heating company for a second opinion. I called another company. They came checked and rechecked the furnace. They could not find any cracks or leaks and the flame was the correct color. The furnace is still running perfectly. I am appalled that the technician they sent attempted to scam me. I sent the owner, Rick Stivers, an email describing what his technician had done. What I received from them was a bill for an additional $12.00 for the furnace filter. Rick, has never bothered to contact me and apologize. I am a senior citizen and want to warn other seniors about this company’s practices.

When I bought the home, the inspection people said it had a split in it, and they shut the system off completely. My son was working next door to them. I called them, and they installed the furnace. A very reasonable price. At that time the gas company was offering an $400 discount. I got an high efficiency furnace for $2000. Yes, if I needed to use them.

Service Provider was fairly prompt however highly unprofessional. He didn't ask many questions, only looked at the heat pump directly without observing the rest of the system.
He seemed in a hurry to look at it, figure it out and move on. He also SMOKED while on my property, without my permission on my property and left his lighter on my heat pump after he left.
At the end of the service call he told me my  "compressor is grounded" without giving any further explanation beyond that. I asked what that meant and said it means I have to replace my compressor. No, how does a compressor become "grounded", what does that really mean. Nothing. I have a one year warranty through ball homes, but of course if this was installed incorrectly that caused the problem then it is something that should be covered anyway since I can't imagine how a 2 year old system would have bad electrical. Stivers would have been the company to install the unit in the first place.
Overall I simply found it to be a highly unprofessional experience and will by looking at other quotes.

With the new air conditioner and furnace, they weren't the lowest. But, they were close. They're average in pricing. I didn't have to clean up after them at all. That's a good thing.

I have had Stivers HVAC do my spring preventative maintenance for my two Trane systems since 2011.  Last year they charged $180 for maintenance on the two systems.  On January 30, 2015 I received a letter from Rick Stivers indicating that they will do the preventative maintenance service only in March or April.  I called Stivers HVAC on May 11 and was told they could not help me even though I have been a customer for the last 4 years.  I don't want to do business with a company that tells me that I must call for an appointment within their time frame. I then called Stewart HVAC and they said that they could help me with any service anytime.  I now have a new HVAC company that will work with me.  I want a company that will help me with any of my needs at anytime.  What about you?

They did a great job.  Bryan was great to work with.  He even had his guys come back out and modify some ductwork to make the system work as efficiently as possible throughout the entire house.

An honest HVAC person is worth their weight in gold. Stivers is honest and not trying to upcharge or sell a new unit.

Arrived exactly on time, with a call beforehand. Was very polite and responded to questions I had. Told me everything looks good, didn't try to sell me anything extra or unnecessary.

Installation took three trips. One to install, one to fix the furnace so that it would work properly and one to install a new thermostat. However the worst part was the responsiveness of the sales staff. We had followup visits scheduled at least 3 times to get the papers for the guarantee. The person, a Stivers family member, did not ever show up and never called to cancel. We ended up going through the Better Business Bureau to get our guarantee and it came too late for us to take advantage of the lifetime warranty. We have never experienced such lack of professionalism.

We are on an annual maintenance plan where they come twice a year, spring and fall. They are punctual. They are very thorough. I don't feel like that they try to offer me services that I don't need. My daughter had used them on an emergency basis and they showed up when she needed them to. They are just very honest. You just don't feel like that they are trying to take you for a ride.

The technician took his time and checked every detail of the system. In response to some questions we had, the technician demonstrated a thorough understanding of our heating and cooling system.

I don't remember the price I paid them, but they were good. I asked them a lot of questions and they answered all my questions. I had questions about what they were doing in the process and what they were checking. So, they explained that. They were on time too.

I had no heat on a day that was 12 degrees!! My groomer for my dog recommened Stivers to me and I immediately looked them up on Angie's list and saw that they had great ratings and reviews. I called them right then as I was freezing!! I know they were busy that day and had to wait most of the day in my freezing house but I understand it is that time of the year for many people!! The HVAC person that came to assess my heat's situation was Timmy. He was SO nice, conducted himself very professionally, polite and VERY helpful!! He seemed to be detailed and very conscienious (spelling) about his work. It took about 3 hours from start to finish and he had to go get another part but was able to fix my heat with a new motor. I think he did a fantastic job and was very pleasant to do business with!! I would certainly recommend Stivers (and most certainly Timmy) for any future HVAC needs I have. Thank you Stivers and THANK YOU TIMMY for bringing the heat back!! I would like to add that many other companies (I have had the experience with) would have said I needed a whole new system, which I probably do in the future (I know it is coming)...but he did not try to sell me, twist my arm or tell me it could not be fixed. He was determined to fix my heat professional (not a bandage job) and did a great job. When the time comes for the system to be replaced, I will only call Stivers and give them my business!!

Excellent, very punctual and polite. Found the issue very quickly and did not try to sell me additional work which was not needed. I will start a home contract with when it gets cold to have them maintain my system.

Did exactly what was needed but also spent undue amount of time encouraging me to replace the whole system because of its age. It is working fine.

The person who did the estimate explained the product well and what the scope of work would be. I also called him several times for more detailed explanations or more information. Thw people who did the install were prompt and worked efficiently, though there was a small short in the wiring. A repair man came and stayed until he was certain that the work was finished correctly. No further problems.
