multiple problems to bring engine to acceptable condition including new starter. some problems had to be redone or adjusted , but no problem in standing behind work. very honest and only does repairs that are needed and does not try to add services.

ordered parts, replaced them. went well. efforts were made to correct any problems that had been worked on. only problem was that new problems became evident, after old problems were corrected.
Response from Paul's Foreign Auto Inc
"Sorry that price seems to be the problem for (member name removed), he has been a long time customer and we have serviced his other cars. We do charge a higher labor rate for antique cars due to extra time in dealing with rust and obtaining parts."

Overall, they’ve done good work. They’re very accurate on their estimate, and are polite people.

I took the F150 in primarily due to an increasing incidence of noise from the engine compartment - I thought possibly the A/C compressor as the noise was noticeably worse when the A/C was on. It also seemed to me that the truck's ignition was missing. I also wanted to get some of the fluids changed as this had been earlier recommended to me by a dealer. Paul determined the noise was due the power steering shaft wobbling. He recommended replacing the pump. He did not find any ignition miss but suggested the plugs be changed (they were about 10 years old). He also agreed with the dealer recommendation that the 2 fluids should be changed. Work was done on time and at agreed price. I noticed that Paul's price for the fluid changes was about the same as the estimate the dealer had given me.

Paul's service is consistently friendly, cost-effective (not cheap - this is a Volvo) and well done.

At 116,000 miles the transmission AND engine FAILED in the Acura MDX. Paul's had performed the pre-purchase inspection and much of the routine maintenance on the car. At the last repair, they noted in their computer that the car was making a "sound" that might indicate transmission problems BUT NEVER notified me of the problem. When the transmission failed they referred me to Cottman transmissions ( a whole other rip-off). Cottman's notified me that the Acura MDX has known transmission problems. Mind you, the car was a 2003, bought in 2005 and Paul's never mentioned that the Acura's had known problems, despite our payin Paul for a pre-purchase inspection. Of course, they won't take any responsibility for the transmission despite their computer documentation and their maintenance of the car. One more mechanic not taking responsibility for their work.
Response from Paul's Foreign Auto Inc
"I am truly sorry there was a problem with the vehicle later on but can only report on condition at the time of testing. There were no Technical service Bulletins in effect at that time conserning the transmission."

They did what they told me, and charged what they estimated. I looked at the wholesale on a distributor on line--it priced at about $340 for the part. This equates to $140 for labor and shop supplies, probably a two hour job with diagnostics. All in all, relatively reasonable (though expensive for me!). I was hesitant to use them, as they had attempted to burn me once in the past. In 2003 they replaced my timing belt and a pulley they said was old and worn. Six months later, a belt snapped and got caught in the timing belt [not their fault]. I took the car in and they came back saying that they could replace the belt, but that the pulley was old and worn out. I pointed out that the pulley was only 6 months old and they quickly changed their mind. I was very suspicious of them after that, but they are close to where I work.
