He was thorough and extremely helpful. He took his time explaining things to me and going above and beyond which showed that he really cared. I recommend using Pat Kirkhope on any home improvement jobs you need. He is someone you can hire and trust.

We were extremely pleased with the work done by Kirkhope Construction. The owner, Pat Kirkhope, is very experienced and professional in his work. He has a solid network of subcontractors, and his small team of employees is great. Pat is 100% hands-on in terms of supervision of the work, and he is a detail-oriented perfectionist. He was readily available by phone, text, and email whenever we had questions, and we saw him on the job site almost every day that work was taking place. We would definitely have him do more work on our house, and we have already referred several friends and acquaintances to him that have also hired him with great results. Here are some details of our experience:
Planning, budgeting, and timing: We really appreciated the fact that Pat spent a lot of time helping us with potential costs and considerations before we even hired him. He is very skilled at estimating costs; almost everything we budgeted with him was right on target. His estimates for the time frame of getting things done was accurate as well. He not only has years of contracting experience, but he also has a degree in design, so when we were struggling with an overall and quot;visionand quot; of the project, he was able to offer a lot of valuable ideas and input. He even saved us from some bigger mistakes in terms of what we were thinking for the style and overall look of the house; he can see the whole project in his mind and help you to understand an end goal.
The work itself: Pat was very concerned with safety and security at our house, and he was always around to make sure we were comfortable with what was happening. He introduced us to all of his subcontractors and did a fine job of making sure tasks were properly managed. He saw to it that cleaning up was done well as the whole project proceeded. Any time we raised questions, he listened and took care of things. In the few instances that we were not 100% satisfied with details, he fixed it. For example, we saw some irregularities in drywall patching, so he had workers come back and re-finish areas to our satisfaction without any hassle.
Overall, we are completely satisfied with Kirkhope Construction, and we love the way our house looks and feels now. It is updated and more functional than it has ever been. We often look around and comment that it feels more like a vacation home, and we don't want to wake up and have to leave!

Kirkhope Construction took on our project in August of 2009 and completed the remodel before Christmas of that year, in less than 4 months. The remodel included completely opening and updating the entire home. Pat Kirkhope managed all contractors and costs associated with the remodel. Pat was very easy to work with and we felt that he worked on our home as if it was his. He was always very open with costs and timelines and provided many practical and efficient suggestions for remodeling the home. Pat was always available and made sure we were moved in before Christmas. Pat worked extremely well with our architect and interior designer and was easy to communicate with - he always kept us updated on his progress and stayed ahead of us in decision making so the project was not delayed. We are extremely grateful for Pat's management of our remodel and will definitely use him in the future for other projects. We have recommended him to many of our friends, who are also just as happy with his work.

The entire process was very enjoyable, Pat is extremely professional and organized. He was quick to make suggestions on ways to save money and was always available to answer any concerns we had. We started the process with no idea how to add square footage without putting a terrible box addition on the back of our house. Pat's extensive knowledge and architectural background was a key component in the finished product. I highly recommend Kirkhope Construction for any construction project.

We bought a beautiful lake house in the middle of nowhere. It was perfect for us - made of 200 year old logs, had big stone chimneys, an open floorplan, and a huge deck. Rustic but very nice. But there were several problems - it only had a master bedroom and a sleeping loft (for children), and the deck was rotted out. Pat Kirkhope was referred to us by my a friend in the building materials (brick, doors and wiondows). He had just completed an addition to their home. Another friend had used him for a *total* redo, and this family also highly recommended him. Pat provided us with a quick estimate so that we know how much to try to get the house for (we were clueless). Our main objectives were to add another master suite, redo the deck, install a new HVAC, new insulation, and about a hundred odds and ends that we kept adding. And to stick with the cabin feel.
After we bought the home, his whole crew was there immediately. We decided that we wanted to inclose a screened-in porch to make another master suite. They quickly demo'ed the porch and framed the bedroom/bath/closet. To stay within the feel of the rustic lake house, they used board and batton on the outside, stained to match the existing 200 year old logs on the rest of the cabin. And on the inside, they used ceder with no stain to match the interior logs. And on the floor, a match to our existing poplar. The bathroom is tiled beautifully and the closet has custom shelving. His woodworkers can do anything. Looking at the room now, it matches the rest of the home and looks as if it had always been there - exactly what we wanted.
Next they tore off the old, rambling deck and consolidated it to something more managable with one set of stairs...instead of 6! His crew used to frame homes, so the deck was a breeze for these guys. It's beautiful and solid. It came together and was put into use very quickly.
I was very happy with Pat. He is a talented builder and a hard worker who also happens to be a good guy. I trust his ability and his opinions. His crew is great, too. Many of the laborers and woodworkers have been with him for over 10 years. His subcontractor (plumbing, HVAC, electric, paint, ect.) were also impressive. I've already called on one of them for our main residence.
