Design/Build is having Professional Interior Designers on staff to show you what your home remodeling project will look like (even in 3-D), guide you in selections and hand hold you throughout the project. We invested an inordinate amount of time pursuing a major project with them for a number of months as the scope of work increased. After we were almost done and on the same page, ready to sign contracts to move forward & break ground, they backed out, forcing us to start all over with a different contractor. Heard they got some other more profitable simple jobs. Although we were stunned at such unprofessional behavior, we were eventually very grateful that we feel dodged a bullet. At the end of the day, this company would have been a nightmare on such a big project. Yes, they have an extremely slick selling presentation with all kinds of high tech software and online project management promises. But they only have one local guy (who seems very nice) and the management of the company was all out of town. The local guy had no authority to make ANY decisions—had had to go to them for everything. Every single time we had to meet to review or revise the scope of work as we were putting the initial project together, we would have to wait an entire month until a manager could be in town. In hindsight, we had such a problem just getting things underway, we cannot imagine how bogged down it would have become down the road.

It went really well from the start, I had a deadline that I thought was pretty tough, but J & R Construction wasn't phased by it at all. Jimmy and Josh both came out to discuss the details with me at the property and advised me on what they recommended I do and how the options would go. Then they went back to the office and estimated the project and got me an official written estimate. The job did not exceed that estimate and they met the deadline. There were multiple elements involved, electrical, ceiling fan, removal of a garage door, drywall, flooring, vinyl siding, a window, air-conditioning unit, etc. I'm very happy with the results and I highly recommend them to my friends and family for any of their remodeling projects so I also recommend them here on Angie's List.

It always seems to take forever with remodeling, as was the case this time. However, I believe things went as well as possible considering the sequential installation nature of the different elements. Quick to address any concerns during the process.

We recently had J & R Construction remodel our downstairs family room and are very happy with their work! They took the time to walk us through each stage of the project so we always knew exactly what to expect and when to expect it. Jimmy is very conscientious about the people he hires and all the contractors and subcontractors are well-vetted. Seth was very helpful with design ideas and in selection of carpeting and paint. We never felt uncomfortable with anyone working in our home. They were careful to clean up, respectful of our home and privacy, and very patient with our two dogs - never once letting them out of the yard. We would definitely hire them again for any future projects. We received bids from five different companies and while J & R were not the least expensive, the quality of their work is well worth any savings we may have gained by using an inferior contractor.

The price they quoted was incredibly high - over thirty thousand for a straight-forward bathroom remodel. The plans they drew up (which is what we paid for) were ok, but not particularly professional looking. Overall, it was worth $150.00 just for their time and to pick their brains for ideas, but we simply cannot afford the price.

Company was very prompt on scheduling the service appointment. Don't think they had much interest in the Design project as we conveyed to them that we were only interested in the conceptual design as we were planning to sell the home and wanted to provide the concept to the new potential buyers. Design took about 5-6 weeks and several calls by me to follow up - when I did finally get the design it was very disappointing - as they basically took the current layout an painted the cabinets white.... not a lot of effort.

Called to schedule a person to come out and view the bathroom and take measurements on 5/26/15. J&R indicated they could not come until June 23,2015. After the June appointment I received a email with the proposal on 7/21/15. So it took two months to prepare a proposal that could not have taken more that 30 minutes. The proposal was a cheap two page picture of a bathroom. There were no options, other suggestions, or specifications. I have owned homes for 40 years, in many states, and had most of them remodeled. This has been the worst proposal I have ever seen. I would not recommend them to anyone. Even if the proposal was reasonable, I would be reluctant to use them, because if it takes two months prepare a proposal, it would take 6 months to do the job.

When Jimmy quoted he gave us an itemized allowance for our selections (demo, electrical, appliances, painting, drywall, flooring, tile, cabinets, plumbing, fixtures and counter tops) and Tracy?s detailed drawings. He also gave us a firm date on when he would start and finish, which were done to the day. He also said that his allowances would be within 4%, which done even after we added top of the line Caesarstone counter tops.
Before the project started Jimmy and Tracy had all the key people involved in our old kitchen to go over all the new plan details and to make sure all could be done, as stated. A team concept. Tracy also helped my wife with some selections and made suggestions.
J&R also a neat personalized online website manager that informed us daily on what was going on and where we were; schedule, budget, questions/messages, selections (cost, specs) and photos. Each morning I also got a text from Jimmy telling me who was coming that morning and when. When I had an issue I usually would text, or call Jimmy or add to our online project and would get a quick response. I only had to notify one person (Jimmy) and he took care of the rest.
It worked, he started and finished the day that he said that he would.

Good. They did need to to go over drywall a couple more times to improve appearance after initial completion. They came back graciously and made sure we were satisfied. They did great on tile and paint. I LOVED THESE GUYS? I'm saying I went to service provider for the answer to the question Angie's list ask on this survay. The service address should not be necessary in my opinion. I give Angie's List an F. I do not agree with asking about price either.
