RE: 2014 Mazda2 (purchased at P-M Mazda)
Went in for routine oil change prior to an extended trip.  Car has less than $30K miles. Was told by service adjuster that rear drum brakes were "down to the rivets" and needed replaced for safety reasons.  Was also told that front disc pads needed replacing.
Total quote including (bogus) brake fluid replacement was over $400 (declined).  Did not believe the brakes were worn out.  Took car to First-Stop Auto where they checked brakes and determined 70% left on rear and 50% left on front.
WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU???  (service techs work on commission)  Not to mention that their brake job prices are grossly high, but that is not surprising at the dealership.
Returned to P-M Mazda and spoke with Service Manager who tried to MAINTAIN that the brakes were worn out even in the face of the other inspection - what reason would First-Stop have to NOT perform service (other than being honest).  P-M Mazda refunded the brake inspection charges and the oil change.
Consumer Beware!!!

When I took my Miata for the oil change, I asked the service rep to make sure that they use FULL synthetic oil, rather than the blended oil that they usually use.  They said they would, and that they could see that I'd used that before.  I waited on it.  Over two hours later it was ready.  I paid and left.  When I got home I noticed on the invoice that it didn't indicate they used synthetic.  I called the service department to see if it was a typo.  The service rep proceeded to tell me that blended was what they recommended.  I said I understood that and wanted to know why they didn't do what I'd asked, since I mentioned it three times.  He then proceeded to deflect my questions by asking irrelevant questions about my driving and maintenance habits.  I don't think they did harm to my vehicle.  However, they did not do what I asked, and I do not appreciate  being treated like my requests don't matter, especially when I'm the one paying.  I asked the rep how he proposed to resolve the issue.  At that point he said "well, I wasn't the one who waited on you . . . give me your number and I'll have him call you".  I told him that I was aggravated with their attitude.  I didn't make the mistake, they did.  He told me again that they put in what they recommended for the car.  I told him not to bother to have anyone call me, because I would not be a customer anymore . . . I then told him to have a nice day.   I wouldn't recommend these guys at all.  I am really surprised that they would sell FULL synthetic at all, if it's not recommended.  There attitude is one that indicates that they don't need me as a customer.  They'll get there wish.

The service team is very professional when you arrive and check in. They give you an estimate on the services and a time frame as to how long it will take. They have a nice waiting area and notify you once your vehicle is ready, usually sooner than the time estimate originally given. I have asked several questions in the past in regards to the maintenance on my vehicle and they have always answered them and given me good cost estimates. I appreciate the service and will continue to use them for future services.

Wonderful experience.  Eldon was a true professional and Tommy was the Mazda shop guru.  I had a good feeling about these gentlemen and I love my 1997 Miata.  They did what they said they would do and did it well.  They also furnished a list of other areas of concern, which I asked for with pricing!  I will be doing everything on that list as I can.  No pressure.
