+ -1 moreThe area where they had to drill 10, 90ft holes, 10 feet apart was barely big enough. While it made a big mess, they worked really hard to save a dogwood that was almost in the way. One advantage they have over some ot the other drillers, is that horizontal drill along with their other equipment is small enough to work in a pretty cramped area. The space they had to drill the 10 holes was only 30 x 30, with a 6 foot fence around it. They connected the 10, 90ft holes together with a 6 foot trench (more dirt!) for the connecting hoses that went to each hose loop in the 10 holes. That final connection hose was put through the hole the had drilled 8 feet under our garage, our brick turnaround area, down an 80 foot driveway, and up into the crawlspace in the front of the house where the furnace and geothermal heat exchanges were. Those areas were not disturbed. Everuthing works great.
Description of Work: I had contracted with another HVAC company to install two furnaces and a geothermal system. Unfortunately our plans for where to put the geothermal holes didn't work since there was an aquifer 100 feet below the surface. Our HVAC contractor contracted with Ferguson Geothermal out of Louisville to drill horizontally from another place in our yard. I was impressed with their knowledge, skills, and thoughtfulness. They cleaned up a mess that was really not entirely of their doing for free - taking them 3 full days with 2-3 people. They worked well with the original contractor to get everything installed and working. Thank goodness they willing to come from Louisville to help us out of our situation.
