The report did not cover the details of what had been discussed with us. I called in and spoke to the owner. She agreed that more should have been written and said it would be addressed and I would have a new report on Friday.
Friday night - no report. I called in before they closed, introduced myself first to be sure it was the owner I speaking with (she has a very distinctive voice). I was placed on hold - and left there for a full 10 minutes before I hung up.
We have a very serious issue with wasps at this time. We have always been pleased with the professionalism and the thorough inspection and covering of the house. We live out in an area where we expect bugs and rodents so until something is dangerous we do not normally request additional service. We are seeing many wasps a day in our home and we have a toddler. Scary enough for one of us to be stung but horrific to think of her being stung.
Our plan had been to get the report and share the information with the property owners and request immediate service. After the runaround I received and then being placed on hold by someone who sounded just like the owner I sent an email explaining that I was terminating any additionally scheduled monthly services and would find a new exterminator that could be efficient but also have a high regard for customer service.
I recommend Elite if you need simple work done (monthly pest control or setting out mouse poison). If you need customer service and your family safety to be of a utmost importance this may not be the company for you.
apparently had fleas from the breeder. It didn’t take long and we
had fleas on our carpet throughout the house (1200) sq. We tried to control the
pests by bathing the dog in flea soap however by the time we noticed the fleas
made their self at home in the carpet. We did not notice how bad the problem
was until our children had small bumps showing up from bites. We called around
to find rates and was pleased that un-like Terminix and Orkin, Elite did not
require a “service plan” with monthly, quarterly, or annual rates. Upon our
call I was informed the process to expect as we has in the house and outside
sprayed. The tech did an excellent job and advised it should be a one treatment
deal, however a follow up treatment may be necessary at a discounted rate. To my
pleasure the problem was treated with one application, and any bug continued to
die for 3 months afterwards.
It was only after the second treatment had been completed that the technician mentioned a follow-up fee. Had I known about additional follow-up fees, I would have weighed the pricing differently when I first processed quotes from companies. When I called to complain, I was told that the manager was the only person who could make the price adjustment and that she would contact me shortly. Months went by without any further response. Today (January 21, 2014, nine months after the first call), I received a call from a new manager (two weeks on the job) who threatened to turn over my $55 bill to a collections agency within ten days if I didn't pay the $55 bill for the follow-up visit.
When I explained my story, the manager first claimed and quot;I wasn't here then, so I wasn't the one who dropped the ball.and quot; She then insulted me by saying and quot;it is common knowledge that it takes time for eggs to hatch and there will almost always be a need for a follow-up treatment. And no company offers follow-up treatments for free.and quot; I'm no expert on insects, so I didn't know that follow-up appointments were almost always required. Furthermore, I've used another company for a different pest problem since then, and they included all follow-up treatments in the initial fee. Plus, they explained what kinds of follow-ups would most likely be necessary, so I knew exactly what to expect from the treatment process.
When I hire a company to do a job, I expect them to do it right the first time. Had the technician been as thorough the first time as she was the second time, I would not have needed a follow-up treatment. However, if follow-up treatments are commonplace, then I believe the pest company had an obligation to say, and quot; It's likely that you will need more than one treatment, and there will be a charge of ______ for all follow-ups.and quot; I can budget and plan for that.
After making my case and being threatened by the manager, I paid the bill by credit card today. I told the manager that I would never use their company again and that I would post my story here and anywhere else I can find someone to listen. She told me to and quot;go aheadand quot;.
I feel that Elite Pest Control acted unethically, and when confronted with their lack of communication, they insulted my intelligence and acted as if I should have known their prices and policies without them having to state them. This is unacceptable, and I will never use this company again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.
"First he did not speak to me. He spoke to my bookkeeper. Who is now gone. We always charge for followup service. Just like a Dr. plumber or HVAC any service related industry I am sorry my bookkeeper was less than professional. But we had sent several reminder notices that he could of responded to"
In contrast three other companies contacted charged up to $500, or would not give a price except to say it would vary by $100 until they had seen what a dead racoon looked like. Wow.
"MEMBER IS ANGRY BECAUSE WE HAD TO TAKE HIM TO COURT FOR PAYMENT OF HIS BILLS. THE RECEIPTS HE SHOWED WE SHOWED HIM WHERE THEY WERE APPLIED. HIS MANAGER WAS IN COURT AND WAS TOLD SHE NEEDED A LAWYER. SHE WENT BACK TO COURT WITHOUT ONE. NO ONE WAS UNFAIR TO MEMBER. WE STRIVE TO SATISFY OUR CUSTOMERS, BUT WE DO WANT PAID FOR OUR SERVICES. MEMBER I THINK YOU KNOW WHICH ONE OF US DESERVES THE F."
Overall, I have to say they did the job well that they were hired to do, and at a very reasonable price. While I am familiar with trapping pesky critters, I plan to borrow a friend's trap and take the rather large groundhog to a friend's farm where he will be happier (for most folks, this IS a nuisance and you don't want the groundhog undermining your driveway). Meantime, I will be treating the carpenter ants per his recommendations and will do much of the carpentry repairs myself (I give him an A++ for explaining exactly what had to be done for the ants). If I'm not successful with the carpenter ants, I will call Elite Pest Control for a visit.
