Craftsmen Roofing & Exteriors

Our neighborhood was hit by a devastating hailstorm in 2022. The vinyl siding on the north sides of everyone's house was pocked with holes and gashes, roofs catastrophically damaged, broken windows, battered cars, tree limbs everywhere. Certainly, we had all seen storm damage much worse than what found after our storm, but we all braced for the challenges ahead: clean up, repair and even rebuild. As we picked up the pieces around our yards, contracting companies descended on our neighborhood. Dealing with the insurance end of the equation was already becoming a marathon--but the looming questions, who should we choose to repair our home, who will do the job well became a worrisome preoccupation for us and all of our neighbors. Our former neighbor, Ben F, drove by one day, and seeing me in the yard cleaning up, he stopped by to check in with us. Ben listened empathetically. He told us he had started to work for Craftsmen and asked us if we wanted him to give us an estimate. Ben told that us he had been impressed with the team at Craftsmen, that he had found a workplace guided by principles of integrity. As he put together the estimate, Ben was thorough and thoughtful, answering our endless questions with considerable knowledge and good advice. We trusted Ben as a friend, and after looking at other companies, we decided to go with Craftsmen--not only on Ben's recommendation, but on other positive feedback we received from people who had worked with them through the years. Over the course of a year of work, there were some issues that arose, perhaps not surprisingly, but each time and overall, Craftsmen listened to our concerns and acted fully to resolve them. But what made the difference was the consistent assurances we got from Phillip P, one of the company's owners, that Craftsmen would correct any issue to our satisfaction--a promise that our patient contractor, John B, followed up on, as we likely drove him crazy with anxiety filled texts. Steven S at the office ensured that we were scheduled for our repairs and any follow ups that came after. Ben’s hard work, Phillip's word, John's follow-through and the teamwork at Craftsmen all mattered! This experience has taught us that in the process of home repair and restoration (and I imagine in renovation too), you cannot let the idea of the perfect get in the way of the good. And Craftsmen delivers the goods! We have finally, and thankfully, come to the end of repairing our home! We 100% recommend Craftsmen if you are looking for a solid, local company that operates on principles of integrity and that goes the extra mile to ‘make it right.’ Craftsmen, like other companies following the hail event, met a different sort of storm—a storm of people needing repairs. The unusual circumstance meant that Craftsmen had to learn how to navigate a disaster event along the way. But as they learned best practices in the aftermath of our storm, they stood by their work. Now, as we stroll through our neighborhood, we often note how lucky we were to have made the best choice! Thank you, Phillip, Ben, John, the men and women on the construction and window crew, and everyone at the office for your dedication and hard work!

We signed a contract with Craftsmen to do a small siding job in September 2018 and were told work would begin in 3 weeks and would take 1 day to complete. We did not hear back from them again until I reached out in November, at which time they told us that they would begin work in three weeks time. However, work did not begin for another six weeks (end of December 2018) and was not completed until February 2019. The project took so long to complete part of the construction loan we took out to finance the project was cancelled by the bank. Do not use this company if you want a project completed quickly and not subbed out to another company. There was no project management on this job. They showed up late every time they scheduled to work, not starting work until noon and working until nightfall. We did have a change order on the project but never received an itemized invoice or details on the extra costs as we requested. If I could give zero stars as a review for a company, I would do this for Craftsman Contractors.

Roof and gutter replacement - May 2017 They sub-contract all their work out and provide no on-site supervision. The sub-contractors were drinking on the job site, using my backyard as restroom, and damaging property left and right without any notice. It was not until I brought this up to Craftsmen did they even care to address the damages. It took negotiation even for the company to want to repair the damages left. After the job and repairs were completed, the first rainstorm came through and the interior of my house looked like someone turned a garden hose on. The company via the sub-contractor claimed no fault. They made invest another $4k in repairs to my chimneys. Evidently, the chimneys were too bad to work around, but again NO ONE said anything prior to the start of the job. The company then sent their own employee over to inspect where he noticed a softball size hole next to the chimney from the install. They then just chalked the hole and did not address the damage caused by their sub-contractors. We are still dealing all the issues that this company caused to date. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE THIS COMPANY!

Very well. The installers were very quick & skilled, but also very considerate & communicated well how long it would take & what to expect. Outstanding service experience; would recommend to friends & will use again.

It went well overall

Fast and complete. Workers had old roof removed and new one installed in less than 1/2 day. Gutter crew was excellent. I called them back out with a problem in a torrential downpour, and they showed up to check it out. They explained that massive rain could cause some overflowing. There have been no issues in a normal rain.

Easy to work with. Began and finished work when they said they would. Answered questions promptly when needed to get in touch after the work was done. Professional, cleaned up all debris when finished. Pleased with our new roof.

After I put down the deposit, communication was not very good. The roof took longer to schedule and longer to replace than I was told and the quality was poor. While they have been communicating about resolving those problems, the issues have not been resolved even after I was told they were, including very specific problems that I asked to be fixed.

It went great. No issues besides finding a couple nails in yard days later but that is not that big of a deal.

After price was agreed on a contract was signed. The material was delivered and within a few days work began and was finished in a timely manner. Job site was cleaned up and left free of any debris.

The quality of work was top notch. People were friendly and personable. Thorough talk about what I wanted, so we were on the same page. Good effort to minimize disturbance inside the house, and removed debris. Final result a real show-stopper. The work took a bit longer than originally estimated, so I only gave a B for Punctuality. Otherwise it was all I could have hoped for.

Bad long drawn out experience.

My son and I hired Craftsman Contractors in Lexington KY to replace the roof on my home and my son's home. We have found their company to be friendly, helpful, efficient and provide quality workmanship. They use quality products, and their work is guaranteed. Their response to our concerns was immediate, and we am confident in their reputation. My son and I are both pleased with the end result, and yes, we would hire them again.

The salesman who quoted us was friendly and flexible and worked out all the details with insurance for us. While he made suggestions, he didn't try to pressure us into any 'upsells' and I felt he was honest with what was really important. It took a while to get the work scheduled (due to weather, waiting on parts, etc.) but once it was time, the crew worked fast and cleaned up after themselves.

Our experience with Craftsmen was excellent.  There is a certain amount of apprehension when it comes to ripping out old windows in a one hundred year old home in a historic neighborhood.  Add to that, I have two small children and we chose to update the windows during an unseasonably cold and snowy time.  Regardless, the team at Craftsmen made everything so easy.  They treated our home like a HOME and not a construction site.  The replacement was quick and easy- the clean up was thorough.  We noticed a difference in the Heat and AC flow right away.  The windows that they helped us pick out look great and are easy to work.  From the initial phone call to the customer service after the job, I am very pleased.  So much so that I cannot wait to hire them to replace the siding on our home next spring.  I will keep in touch and report on how that project goes as well!
