Description of Work: Edgar Hume replaced the worn out movement in our grandfather clock and it is now as good as new. Mr. Hume is a perfectionist who love clocks. However, since he is a "solo operation" who also runs a retail business, be prepared to wait for his services and to call for a progress report if you have not heard from him.

Description of Work: I called him frequently, beginning in November of 2014, to repair my grandfather clock. He would tell me he would get back in touch with me in a week to 10 days. I wouldn't hear from him so I'd call again and get the same answer. This went on for months. He has yet to get in touch with me. I am now looking for someone else.

Description of Work: Very nice, honest provider. Fixed my 50 year old mid-century modern clock by converting it from corded to battery operated. Had it ready for me in one day! Couldn't be happier with his service.

Description of Work: My chiming mantel clock stopped working, and Mr. Hume at the Clock Shop advised me that to replace its innards with a movement of the same quality would be costly. He also told me that the $350 German replacement movement would last only 4-5 years. In the end, I decided on a $75 Japanese battery-operated movement. It sounds tinny but at least the clock keeps time. | |I appreciated Mr. Hume's honesty and candid advice throughout my decision-making process.

I came into the shop and he looked at my clocks. The first one was a clock from Target or another big box store, and the hands had fallen off. He showed me how to open the clock and told me how to fix it in order to save myself money. He then looked at the second clock, which was one given to my father by his father. It required replacement parts so he took the clock and fixed it for me. He happened to have replacement parts there so I received it back the same day.
Description of Work: They told me how to repair one clock for myself to save money, and repaired another clock for me since it required replacement parts.

Great
Description of Work: I had a clock(very nice) that was in my attic for 20 years. It was a battery operated clock. I took it to the Clock Shop to fix. He explained that the battery mechanisms only lasted for a few years. He recommended changing the works to a normal clock without the chimes and ding dongs. It works great and I could not be more happy. I will ALWAYS use them in the future and recommend them. They also have many unusual items, such as large cards which has been wonderful for a friend who lost sight in one eye.

It went extremely well. He was punctual, courteous and very professional, and obviously very knowledgeable about this clock . At a time when there are people passing themselves off as clock repairman when in fact they don't know what they are doing, it is refreshing to find a true craftsman trained in the old school. I couldn't be more pleased and I highly recommend the Clock Shop.
Description of Work: The Clock shop repaired my 150 year old French Mobrier Grandfather Clock. The owner came to my house and adjusted the weights and adjusted the mechanism of the clock so that it worked properly, as well as giving me a history of the clock. There was a lot of fine tuning to get the clock working properly--this was not a simple matter, but he persevered and was successful in getting it to work.
