Central Equipment Company
About us
HISTORY Harold Huber started his career in farm equipment in 1962 with a Ford dealership in Shelbyville, KY. The business primarily catered to dairy and beef cattle farmers. A decade later the Hubers moved to Lexington to open Central Equipment. Massey Ferguson and New Holland were their major lines. TODAY Central Kentucky’s farm and turf equipment dealership moved to its current site in 1998. The relocation to their 4.1-acre lot on Red Mile Road nearly doubled the company’s amount of space. Their new 56,000 sq. ft. building features a 10,000 sq. ft. showroom and boasts a parts department more than twice the capacity of the previous one. The areas of the service department and the warehouse have increase by 30% each. Central Equipment’s inventory includes lawn, farm and power equipment for the residential homeowner and large property owner as well as the commercial customer. And with over 300 horse farms in Fayette and surrounding counties, life at Central Equipment includes a substantial amount of agricultural business for our dealership due to one fact alone — Lexington is the Horse Capital of the World. BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY When Central Equipment first opened its doors, there were many businesses that offered equipment that farmers, commercial mowers, and landscappers used. But the quality of that equipment did not stand up to the demands of those consumers. Even though we have grown along with our customers, the buinsess philosophy at Central Equipment has remained the same: Provide the highest quality farm and turf equipment available — at a fair price — and stand behind the products with quality service and parts support. BUSINESS SUCCESS At Central Equipment, our employees are key to our success. We have around 42 employees that work in either sales, parts, service, or accounting. Together they bring over 420 years of combined experience of service to this industry and our community. Our 6 salespersons have over 125 years of combined experience. Our service department (AG, lawn, setup and office) is staffed with 17 employees, including 14 trained and annually certified technicians. These technicians have a total of 156 years of combined experience at our company. In our parts department, 9 people bring over 81 years of their combined “parts service” experience to Central Equipment customers. Why Shop at Central Equipment? We sell multiple brands at Central Equipment because it’s best to provide the customer with a variety of quality product options. This allows the consumer to make the right decision for their specific need. Our large showroom displays a wide selection of lawn and AG equipment. Our “in-house” parts inventory exceeds $1.5 million, but if you need something that we don’t have, we will gladly order it! Bottom line: Central Equipment employees are knowledgeable, customer-focused, and dedicated to providing superior service. What is a Full Service Dealer? A full service dealer is one that goes beyond the sales transaction, and Central Equipment is a full service dealer — one that is unmatched in the lawn, farm, and power equipment market in Central Kentucky. We sell a number of brand lines to meet the demands of our residential, comercial, landscape, and farm customers. But, we do more than sell you a quality product. We provide parts support and service on everything we sell — even those product lines that we no longer sell. We have three trucks that are capable of delivering or picking up any size of lawn or farm equipment you may have. If you are unable to being the equipment to us, we will come to you. We will pick up your equipment, service it, then return it to you ready to operate. Or, we can service your equipment at your location.

I first visited on 3/16 just to look. They were out of the mower I was interested in, but the manager gave me a brochure and told me when they expected to receive more. I returned on 3/30 to purchase.
The service from the staff was very professional. I felt I was treated with as much respect for my lawn mower sale as they would give someone buying the big-ticket equipment they carry. They added oil and gas to the mower and started it up, then helped load it in my car. In addition, the salesman registered the warranty online as part of the sale. I highly recommend this business if you need lawn or farm equipment of any kind. I can't speak about their service at this point, but I would think it would be excellent as well. Thanks, Central Equipment!
After the second replacement, done after a year and a half on ownership, I spoke to a salesman about trading the unit in for the next unit up, which is better built and more expensive (of course).
Without checking with a manager, he agreed immediately to give me a full credit toward an upgrade.
You don't find this service level much any more.
Highly recommended.
"Member, We appreicate the nice review you gave us. We are celebrating our 40th anniversay this year and relaize we wouldnt have been here this long without taking care of our customers. Anyone can go and buy power equipment from a box store, its the knowledge to help you find the unit that fits your needs and the service after the sell that sets us apart from everyone else. As the 3rd generation of this family owned business, its important to me that all of our customers are taken care ofand think of us wheever there is a need for outdoor power equipment. If you ever need assistance, please dont hesitate to give us a call. Again, thank you for the nice review. Jason Huber General Manager Central Equipment"
