Brick layers couldn't lay a straight line of bricks. They had to redo the front porch brick work twice. The vinyl siding that was done has numerous problems. I had to have the soffit trim work redone on half the house. The insulation was not done properly. Approximately 300 sq ft of the attic did not have any insulation. The inside trim work was painted before wiping it down, so it is rough and will have to be sanded or replaced. They couldn't even do the kitchen island and I had to install the island myself. They left out the accent tiles in the bathroom and shower. They left out the shower seat completely. The heating and air conditioning is subpar. The upstairs a/c unit cannot heat or cool the floor. The deck stairs started failing off in less than 2 years. Now just this year, the sewer line was broken in two places - at the main line and also at the basement wall. Of course it is 3 years after the fact and Ball homes won't fix it. The sidewalk cracked going into the house and of course ball homes won't replace it. They also cracked the existing sidewalks going around the house and they won't replace them either. I would never go with them again. They are overpriced (every little change they charge you an arm and leg for) and the quality is so bad. I wouldn't trust them to build an outhouse.

We have had numerous problems over the years w/plumbing (which caused water damage), electrical outlets, windows leaking. Some have been promptly resolved by builder & others were not covered under warranty. Building quality is adequate but not great.

The quality of construction is very bad, we have had to replace our windows in the rear of our home due to the wood rooting, the back door had to be replaced, our roof leaked and we had to repair the ceiling, the walk through list was never completed and to this day some of the items have never been completed, our ceiling fans were not centered in the den or master bedroom and there is no way we would buy another home from this company.

From design to finish, we were pleased with the overall experience. We've been in our home for over a year and love it. The workmanship is excellent; they've been responsive to any small issues that we've had (and everyone who builds a house will have some issues). They used quality plumbing, fixtures, contractors--it was a good experience. The project ran about 2 months behind schedule though--that was our only complaint.

They offered a nice selection of upgrades and floorplans which can be customized to suit your lifestyle. Once you sign a contract to hold the lot of your choice, which required a $2,000 nonrefundable deposit, then you begin the selection process where you decide which floorplan you want, any changes to that floorplan; and you go to their offices in Lexington to choose everything from the doorknobs on your cabinets, to you floors and paint colors. This takes a full afternoon or morning to complete. You'll have to go to Pieratts to choose your appliances and to Brecher's to choose your lighting. Other than that, Ball Homes has samples of everything at their offices.
We began the selection process in late May, 2012 and moved into our home in early February, 2013.
We did experience some delays and a few times felt that our home was not getting as much attention as other homes that were being built, thus we experienced about a 6 week delay from the promised completion date. But, all in all, we are very happy with the finished product. The home is beautiful. We liked our realtor a lot (Erin Raymond) who works for Milestone Realty, owned by Ball Homes. They used quality materials in the home and had no problem with me walking through the house every few days to check on progress. They also answered questions that I had.
Having just moved in, I haven't been here long enough to experience any issues, or guage their responsiveness, however, my neighbors have told me that they have had a good experience in getting any issues that arose with their homes addressed. One thing that they do is give you a checklist to keep track of any problems then you have scheduled visits to make repairs, adjustments, etc. So, if you have nail pops in the drywall, you would indicate that on your checklist and when they come back for scheduled visit, then they take care of the problem then.

If anything was wrong, they immediately came back to fix it. They're really good with follow through and follow up. Their price and quality of work were excellent. Even though they're a big construction company, they also take care of all the little details too. They were responsive and punctual. I would use their services again in the future.
