The home inspection was very thorough. Home interior and exterior were looked over very closely including electrical, plumbing, drywall, finishes, exterior drainage and grading. I appreciated being present for the inspection and having the various notes, observations, and concerns explained to me as well as differences between a functional concern vs a code or safety concern.

The guys at Adams were great. Professional, very knowledgeable and extremely thorough. They got into every possible nook and crannies they could fit in... and some I think were even too small!
These guys save me from making a very big, and eventual costly mistake. It was WELL WORTH what I paid to have this inspection done.
Definitely top-notch.  I'll recommend them to any of my friends who might be thinking of buying a house in the future.

We actually heard about Mr. Adams from a friend- he had performed their home inspection back in 2009 and they really liked him. He was able to come out to the home within our strict timeline, so we figured we'd give it a go- and we are SO happy we did. After using him, my parents (the ones who own this angie's list account) suggested that I write a review, since Mr. Adams didn't have very many.
1. He was extremely punctual- he actually got there early!
2. He was thorough- he went into the attic access, and climbed on all of the roof. The inspection lasted approximately 5 1/2 hours and he was working the entire time.
3. He was polite and professional, but made sure that when he told us about problems, so we knew how serious or cosmetic each issue was.
4. His written report was thorough and reflected exactly what he had told us and was supplemented by pictures of all of the problems/damaged areas.
5. He saved us from buying a house that had some pretty extreme issues that were not apparent to an ordinary home buyer. The house had been flipped, so everything looked new and shiny. But some of the new stuff was actually hiding some of the issues- grading and foundational problems and water damage, among others!
We are very fortunate that we had Mr. Adams to perform the home inspection. While the issues he found were heartbreaking (we are first time homebuyers and we fell in love with that house), we are so happy that he found the problems and let us know. We're going back to searching, but at least we know that Mr. Adams will be there for when we find another home.

I have a house under contract in the Lexington area, and had written into the contract that any house inspection had to be completed within 10 days. My realtor didn't bother to tell me that this would be nearly impossible to do with a reputable home inspector, as they are all swamped at this time of year. A more realistic timeframe would have been 15 or 20 days (there's a tip for anyone reading this). Unfortunately, the seller would not budge on extending the expiration, so I had no choice but to get one done in 10 days. My realtor gave me some names, but neither the reviews or recommendations I was getting were very good. So I checked Angie's list.
When I called Tom Adams and explained my situation, he worked with me to find a time in the late afternoon when he could fit me in. I like the approach Tom takes, where he writes up a full report, includes pictures, and then will verbally walk you through it or answer any questions you have about what he saw. This was very important to me, as I was not able to meet him at the house after he did the inspection. I'm very pleased with the report and the attention to detail Tom showed while doing the inspection.

He is very professional, punctual, and thorough. He answered all of our questions in very meticulous detail. His work was above what I had expected him to do. He was about six hours, which was longer than I anticipated because he encountered some unexpected issues with the home. We were getting ready to buy the home that he inspected, so I was very appreciative of the thoroughness and time that he took with the inspection.

He was absolutely fabulous. He gave a 58 page report. He was easy to get along with. He did a house inspection and found all kinds of things that I wouldn't have noticed about the house. He was very honest and upfront with it. He made suggestions on how to fix certain things; made suggestions about what we should, may be about getting a home warranty. He was wonderful; he was very thorough. I tried to use him again but I couldn't get him for the second house inspection.

Tom spent 4 hours+ inspecting my husband and I's soon-to-be first home. After all that time, he then met with us when he was done and answered all of our questions and then (I know, even more!) he drafted up an extremely detailed report with a plethera of photos to describe his findings. I think he was well worth the $350 fee, and now that I know how wonderful his work is, I would have paid him more. He came at the recommendation of of the Seller's Realtor, and we are so happy we trusted him. he was very honest. My father has been in the home insurance and casualty response business for 30 years and he agreed with everything in the report and found nothing addition that was overlooked. Tom even crawled in the crawl space and the tiny attic. I just can't brag enough! We are buying our first home with confidence! Very knowledgeable.
