About us
I specialize in residential painting, both interior and exterior. I also do drywall and plaster repairs, wallpaper removal and light carpentry related to painting preparation. I have been in business since 1973 and can provide all the references a customer needs. I believe in keeping the craft in painting - something which is often missing in work done by larger companies. I am fully insured and work on all my jobs with my workers. I work in the region of Central Kentucky.

Paul is a meticulous preparer and painter. Works carefully, not swiftly. Some team members were a little sloppy, but cleaned up was mostly ok. Team took rather lengthly smoke and lunch breaks. Because of that and some wallpaper and preprarationl problems the job took a day or two longer than expected, but Paul honored his fixed-price.

"I am glad this customer would hire me again. I have since changed crew some and am on job site for every job instead of overlapping jobs. I due recall the unexpected condition in one room where we had to build up the plaster mixes and let them dry to meet the changes in the wall materials used to build the room. The customer is correct this caused delays due, to drying times between coats."

Friendly and knowledgable owner. Nice crew. Have had for several years but unprofessional behavior and changes in quality of work with last two crews included excessive smoking breaks, tossed cigarette butts, and attention to detail sloppy in some areas unexplainable

"I had worked for this customer before with different workers. All workers have been changed since 2014 after finding out about some problems when I was on another site. I have changed my schedules since 2014 so I do not overlap jobs and I am on the work site each day. I hope this customer would hire me again. Paul Martin"

The owner of the company did the ceiling repair work and did a fantastic job The entire crew spent more time outside smoking than they did working. When they left, there were cigarette butts in the yard, and Paint on the bathroom floor that I had to scrub up. The bathroom ceiling was originally painted in a gloss finish, and I wanted them to use a flat ceiling paint. When they left there were streaks of the glossy paint still showing on the ceiling. I found streaks of paint on light fixtures, and one of the AC vents was painted the wall color, while the rest were painted white.

"It is 2018 and my work crew has been replaced since this job. Corrections to complaints of clean up on jobs since then have been resolved. I didn't notice the ceiling holidays the customer mentioned - they would have been corrected if they were pointed out to me. I just reviewed angie list for the first time in 5 years today. Paul was prompt in returning my call and showed up when he said he would to give an estimate.
We thought his price was very fair.
He showed up, with his crew, when he said he would. The job took a little longer than he initially stated, but that was ok.
My only "concern" was the clean up was not as thorough as I had expected. There were a few paint chips left on the carpet and plaster dust on the floor and in the corners.
We were very pleased with his work and would call him again!

It took longer than I had hoped but there was a great deal of drywall repair to be done. He and his crew were polite and knew what they were doing. I would definitely hire him again.

Paul and his workers were prompt, used excellent quality paint, made all the walls look like new again and replaced everything that required moving where it was before. Their clean-up after the job was completed was also excellent. I have a number of cats and they were extremely conscientious of the cats and put up with one or two of them "helping" with the job.
They weren't the least expensive bid, but I wanted a quality job not a cheap job. I love the work they did and can't imagine anyone doing better. (It should be noted that I have been told that I'm very picky). I highly recommend them!

Crew arrived on Tuesday morning and started setting up and laying down tarps. Covered everything. Got to work right away. Worked all day and cleaned everything up. Came back the next day and started where they left off the day before. The next few days they couldn't come back because of the weather. Mr. Martin called each night to let us know of any problems with weather effecting their arrival. Very professional and very likeable group of men. When the weather cleared up, they were right back at the job. Cleaned up everything when they were done (even though there was no paint slatter or mess) and after asking my wife and I how we felt about the job, they were gone. We highly recommend Paul Martin Painting and expect to have them back in the fall to stain our elevated deck.
