Charles pays attention to details and is very knowledgeable. He also makes a point to review details that he thinks matter to the home owner, before completing them. My wife and I were very impressed with his craftsmanship of pocket doors, framing, and of all the finishes in a relatively tight area he had to deal with. There were existing partitions roughed-in that he had to deal with, and he modified as he needed. The shower enclosure wall, pan and drain system set the bar at our home. We have another shower in the house that pales in comparison, as it does not slope to drain accurately. I see that Charles takes a pride in his work, which is a good indicator of the final outcome.

I still haven't heard from him after sending an email on the 23rd and calling to leave a message. Very disappointed.

I called several places that are listed here to finish my basement. Several did not return my calls/emails, or I was not able to contact them. Charles Martini of ProBasements called me back right away, even though he was away for Thanksgiving. He showed up prepared, we spoke about what I was looking for, and then he spent some time measuring and drawing up plans. He went over what he envisioned, and I made some suggestions. He gave me a quote and timeline right then. After he left, I showed my husband the drawings and the quote, and we agreed that it was fair and what we wanted. Charles was courteous and professional, so even though we wanted several quotes, we were on a bit of a time crunch and felt confident in ProBasements. Once we agreed to use them, we paid the down payment and they began work the next day, a Saturday, just to be sure they would finish in time. Each day they came and made significant progress, and we were amazed at night when we would go down to see what was done. They respected our privacy by using a basement door to go in and out and were very polite when I did have to bother them or when they had to check on something with me. Charles was here most of the time, but even when he was not, he usually checked the work at some point. They finished several days earlier than expected, giving us much needed time to move furniture in before the Christmas holiday when the relatives arrived. We could not be more pleased with how it went and the quality of work. Just to be sure, when our realtor came by as a friend, we had her take a look and she was amazed. She said the quality of the work was incredible and she would expect that we had paid significantly more than we did. We LOVE our new finished basement! We are new to the area and relied on Angie's List for recommendations, and we are so pleased with ProBasements and think all the good reviews are absolutely true.

We would have to purchase a lot of things ourselves. We really liked that they were able to sit down and draw up a plan right there and come up with a proposal right then so we had it right in hand before they left. We are still waiting on another estimate. They were responsive and called to see if we had made a decision.

Pro Basements' quote and design was the most thorough that we received. They made several smart suggestions from the beginning. They recommended we rent a storage unit and remove everything from the basement (they even helped us move the stuff out). During the demo, Charles (the contractor) didn't like the fit of the bar and bath where we originally planned it. He redesigned the bar and moved it to the opposite side of the basement (and it was a great decision!). His attention to detail is incredible. When framing out the walls and ceiling, he kept making subtle changes to the soffits and walls, making it visually more pleasing and keeping you from realizing it was a basement. During one point, some of his workers had built a square box around our sump pump. He told his guys to tear it out a redo it because he didn't like the look. He had them rebuild it as a pentagon instead. I must say, that little change really made a difference! They showed up virtually everyday they said they would, and even had the decency to call on the two days they didn't (try to find another contractor that will do that!). While reviewing the punch sheet at the end, Charles was finding more things that he wasn't satisfied with than I was and he made sure everything was right before they left. The experience and skills that they brought to our remodeling job makes our basement look just as good as the ones on HGTV where they are spending twice as much money!
