Completely unprofessional. Called at 12:30pm, was told I would have technician between 2-5 pm today. Didnt hear from them by 5pm, so called again and was told he was running behind and he would be there today. Called again at 9pm and was told they changed my appointment 2 days from now. Dispatcher said they would contact tech and he would call me immediately. It is 11:21pm and have not heard from anyone. Never showed or never called all day long. You can get this bad of service anywhere. They are NOT even a 1 star worthy company. Find quality company for excellence in service. Spend your money where you get treated respectfully as a customer

On Saturday, 2 July 2016, a technician from Allen’s Air Conditioning (Hodgenville KY, 42748), stated that one of my Air Conditioning units was operating on a 30-Amp Circuit Breaker. Technician stated that it should be operating/connected to a 60-Amp Circuit Breaker. Technician had already pulled out the 30-Amp Circuit Breaker and had to go back to his shop to obtain a 60-Amp Circuit Breaker. I trusted his advice for the replacement. I know that 60-Amp Circuit Breakers cost anywhere from $11.91 to $15.00. The technician did replace the 30-Amp Circuit Breaker with a 60-Amp Circuit Breaker. I was outside working on our property while the technician settled the bill with my wife. My wife paid the bill in full and trusted the technician’s prices for the parts and service. She was not aware of the overcharge for the 60-Amp Circuit Breaker. The technician charged us $379.00 for a 60-Amp Circuit Breaker which may only take 5 minutes to install. We were also overcharged for a dual capacitor. Dual capacitors can costs anywhere from $5.00 - $25.00. We were charged $208.00. Again, a 10 minute install at the most.   Kentucky does have anti-price gouging laws Ky. Rev. Stat. Ann.  § 367.374, and, we will be contacting the State Attorney’s office to file a complaint. Normally, we prefer to use local businesses to help support the local economy, however, in this case we made a poor selection to use Allen’s Air Conditioning (Hodgenville KY, 42748), for our Air Conditioning and Heating services.

The provider showed up without calling ahead as requested. I wanted them to do a service on my Heat Pump so that I could begin a service program with them. The Technician did do the service and noticed that my outside unit coil was bad. He recommended that I replace it vice repairing it as the cost was almost the same. Note: this was verified by another Service Company who I actually used for the repair. He scheduled an appointment for a sales person to come by and explain exactly what I needed to repair my a system. I asked why couldn't I use the current specs from my current unit at least the tonnage, etc. He said, that it was the sales person's job to sell me the unit. They offered me pre-approved financing which I agreed to. I later did some research, contacted another company for a 2nd opinion, and did the removal and installation with the other company. The other company mentioned that the technician left a wire off my motor or pump on the air handler which left it super hot when he inspected it. Since he corrected it, I didn't think it was required ro have Allen come out again. I found out I was pre-approved for pre-financing and I later received a credit card in the mail that I knew nothing about from Wells Fargo. When I called Wells Fargo about it they said it was from Allen for my pre-approval. The interest rate was 28.99%. If I had the interest rate was so high, I would never have even ordered the pre-financing. I used my own credit card with an interest rate of 9.95%. Overall the initial experience with Allen was good. The Technician appeared knowledgeable was easy to talk with. But after the service and finding out of the pre-financing, the mis-wired motor, etc. I would not use them again.

Allen's lost my trust. After the first time they told us the furnace needed to be replaced after a long presentation about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, we decided to trust in our CO detectors in the event anything went wrong. After a furnace malfunction and the second diagnosis of a cracked exchange, a presentation on the dangers of CO poisoning, new furnace, financing options, and shutting off the furnace in January because of the dangers to my wife and son (all this while I am working overseas), my wife went to Knight's to get a second opinion. Knights came the same day, diagnosed no problem, and turned the furnace back on. My wife emailed Allen's and told them that Knight's diagnosed no problem and stated she no longer wanted the routine service package because we couldn't trust that we weren't being "up-sold" every time they diagnosed a problem with the HVAC. David Allen replied shortly after offering to give us a new furnace as a way of making up for the misdiagnosis. We were surprised that Allen's would offer something of that significant value. We found it a bit odd that he would offer something that costs several thousand dollars for nothing after trying to sell us one that we didn't need. My wife told him on the phone she would be interested but after that he never returned a call so we took it as just an empty promise. The routine service and the technicians themselves were good, but I couldn't trust them as every time they came they were telling us that we need to spend thousands of dollars to replace a furnace, and finally if you aren't offering something sincerely, it is better to not offer at all

Today, November 19th, we had the new repairman into replace the exchanger (he found one in Louisville) but inspected it himself first. He showed my husband on a newer/color that the exchanger did not have cracks; just seams. Final diagnoses was a dirty sensor, cleaned it with steel wool and running normally again. Last note- We still have another 8 years with our heat exchanger under warranty, Allen's never once even mentioned that it still should be under warranty. I would not recommend Allen's to friends or family. I am not sure if they are incompetent or just dishonest.

Called to service AC. It took several days to get them here because they serve their maintenance plan customers first. This is great when you are a maintenance plan customer (I am now), but the wait was frustrating...mostly because they just kinda leave you hanging and don't really communicate where you are in the scheme of things unless you call back to ask. HOWEVER, once they got here, I couldn't have asked for better service. This was the best experience I've ever experienced with a heating/cooling company! The technician was terrific! He was very thorough and had a great teaching spirit. He checked all possible avenues of the problem and explained each step. I am now an Allen's fan!

They fixed the furnace free of charge. They did not even charge me for the service call. I have used them several times before. I would refer them to others because they are very dependable. They come out within a reasonable amount of time. I had called them on a Friday night and they had come out on a Saturday morning. They had come out and fixed the furnace. They have been very dependable every time I have called them. They would get in touch with me. If it is an emergency, they would come right away. I am very pleased with them. Their prices have been very reasonable compared to what I would expect from a furnace/ heating company. I have been satisfied with the quality of their work. I have not had any problems with their work. They normally call me back and let me know when they are on their way. They are very professional. I would use them again if required.
