Our Land Organics took our fuzzy ideas and drew up a beautiful, feasible, environmentally conscious rain garden design for our yard. The plan was clearly designed and easy to follow- full of plants that could handle a tricky site. I love our garden so much that I'm writing a review 2 years after installing it- it brings us a lot of joy. Highly recommend this company!

From my initial contact, John was extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly and quick to respond. Our landscape was in desperate need of general maintenance. He and his crew were prompt, efficient and took pride in completing the tasks at hand. In addition, they were very respectful of our property. The results were great. John and his crew were extremely professional and did a fantastic job. The hardscape work (by a fantastic sub) looks great- wonderful craftsmanship. The back yard looks like a different place; a place where we want to be. Everyone was responsive and the crew was friendly and responsive. I would not hesitate to hire again. It was not an inexpensive project but there was a lot involved. John was great as we worked through the options on cost to dial it in to what we wanted. We look forward to seeing the yard grow over the years into something beyond our expectations. I'm already planning to have them back to work on some other areas.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about John and his crew at Our Land Organics. I was looking for an organic landscaping company to come in and install a raised bed vegetable garden. John was very responsive to multiple design changes (thanks to an HOA) in the planning stage. The job was scheduled very soon after the plans were finalized. He and his crew showed up on time and worked harder than just about any contractor I have ever hired. In 3 days they cleared sod, installed a picket fence, installed 4x4 cedar raised beds and filled in the beds and surrounding flower planting areas with soil. Their pricing was very competitive and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them (and already have multiple times).

To begin the process, we filled out a detailed survey about our land, our goals, and some of the types of plants and plant features we wanted. We appreciated the detailed ask ? and the fact that John welcomed the level of detail we provided.
The next step was an initial visit to our property, followed by a second visit to take some measurements. Then John walked through some initial design ideas with us on the property and got more feedback from us. Then he walked us through the final design, showing us where everything would go. We got a detailed to-scale drawing of the design and a list of plants with both common and botanical names, making it easy for us to source the plants.
What was great about this experience?
Professional: We hired Our Land to do the design because we realized that, while we could handle most of the labor to redo our yard, knowledge about what to plant, where, and how to make it look good was far beyond us. We needed help with the design and someone with whom we could consult but were not necessarily ready to just farm out the project. We spoke to other landscapers who just did not seem interested in our business once they realized we would not be big-ticket clients. John was delighted to share his knowledge and expertise. He was also very kind and courteous in calls, emails, and visits, clearly demonstrating respect and care for us and for our property. He returned calls. He showed up when he said he was going to show up. We will hire him again.
Knowledgeable: Knowledge about plants and the environment was deep, not shallow. John was very sensitive to what grows well where, and under what conditions and with other plants. Also a great sense of aesthetics. And he was able to connect us with other partners in the community who would be able to assist with other parts of the project.

John was referred to us by a horticulturists at a local non-profit garden center. He responded quickly to our initial inquiry and has responded quickly to each request since then. He caught our vision to 'create a meadow' right away and, after carefully listening to our wish list, drew up a plan for us to review. Once we had made a few modifications and finalized the plan, he and his very diligent and capable crew performed the work. The results exceeded our highest expectation. Everything John and his crew did was done to a highest standard of excellence. We could not be more pleased.

From our very first phone call, John was incredibly professional and friendly. He was very responsive - returned my call quickly, came to our home the next day to see what was needed, emailed an estimate the day after, and completed work the day after that. Amazing! We truly felt he understood our vision, and he contributed some great ideas that we're excited to implement. He is extremely knowledgeable, and his passion for his work is inspiring. Our landscape beds were in desperate need of overall maintenance, and many of them had been overrun with nutsedge, a horribly invasive weed that spreads like wildfire. He came up with a fantastic idea to control it that involved no chemicals - smother it with landscape fabric and mulch. It's worked incredibly well, and we couldn't be more pleased. Both he and his crew of two were prompt, professional, thorough, and clearly cared very much about completing every task with the highest quality (including multiple walk-throughs to ensure they didn't miss a single weed). The final invoice was actually *less* than the estimate, as he ended up using less material than he thought he would need (I've never had this happen with any other company, and was very impressed with his integrity). We are very excited to work with John and his company to make our landscaping vision a reality in the coming year, and we know his expertise and ideas will take things to a whole new level.

I wasn't here when he did the work, but it looks great! He was very responsive when I called and came right out to check out what I wanted done and was able to get us on the schedule very quickly. John was easy to work with and it seems to be a passion of his to work with natural, organic and native (our region) materials to help protect the soil, flowers, shrubs and trees.

John was amazing to work with, always indicating planned work, and making sure we were happy with the progress. He was careful to review with me his expectations of the progress, and make sure I was happy. The result is outstanding, you would NOT believe that garden hasn't been there for years. The work was finished in a timely manner, and John has been painstaking in his communication, and obviously loves what he does. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

Overall, things went really well with the installation. They started and finished on time and as quoted. The only reason I gave the category of Price a "B" was because we understand that planting with Organic methods can cost a little more than had we used non-organic methods. And we didn't mind paying more because we know the quality of our soil being amended will allow our plants to thrive as time goes on. We consider it an investment into our garden. Our house was new construction and the soil test we had done showed very little nutrients. I think had we used a regular landscaper, they would have just planted without amending the soil the way Our Land Organics did. That was important to us to start with nutrient dense soil. Now that we are almost 1 year out from the time our garden was planted, we are also very pleased with the follow up we have gotten from John's company. A few of the plants didn't make it over the winter and John and his team came back and installed new ones...just like their guarantee promises. That meant a lot to me. It's one thing to do well on the installation and then it's a whole different topic when plants need to be replaced. John is extremely professional and knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone. In fact, I have and several people on our block have called him because he did such a great job with our garden.

I cannot say enough good things about the experience. John was professional, responsive and quite knowledgable. He stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process and answered any/all of my questions. We had a few changes due to zoning restrictions and he came up with ideas for alternate plans.
The overall outcome is better than I expected. It looks fantastic and we are excited to put our vegetables in the ground.

It went great. They came when they said they would and got the job done quickly and even re-rolled my hose, which I had been too lazy to get unstuck on its holder. I added another bed mid-process and they accommodated me. They are also looking for a rain barrel for me that is hard to source, which saves me having to shop for it. A few plants came in looking a little wambly so they didn't install them and are bringing new ones. They offer a one year warranty on the plants they provide, which is great. This was phase one of more phases and I look forward to the next one!
