He had arrived late, tore down the existing deck which was 22-25 years old and started the work without submitting the promised written estimate. He discussed a total cost of $7,200 and wanted half upfront. There were delays in the building. He finished the deck but wanted another $2,600. The posts for the roof were placed under the power lines but the posts split. The roof was never constructed and the wood on the deck was of poor quality as it split and had many knot holes. I paid for the roof I didn’t get. Rick wants more money. After 6 months, the wood was splitting and the knot holes were cracking or falling out because of the inferior wood product. This deck now needs a great deal filler. Avoid RM Specialties as they are not trustworthy.
