During the process of our relocation to SC, I suffered a severe injury that required surgery and prevented us from going back to retrieve our dogs from the kennel for what would have been several weeks. I searched for options online and found P.ET.S. I had no idea such a service existed, but the more I researched this option, the more comfortable we felt. We talked with Mike, and we were instantly confident that our dogs would be in good hands. The driver, Cody, arrived at the kennels Monday am as promised, and he was actually there when the kennel opened. He kept us informed on how the drive across country was going and even sent pictures of our dogs comfortably curled up in his back seat and enjoying the ride! Cody arrived in Spartanburg, SC Tuesday afternoon as promised, and our dogs were happy, healthy, and affectionate toward him. That told us that they were well treated along the way. If we ever need this service again, we will use P.E.T.S. without a doubt! This was so much less traumatizing for our spoiled puppies than air cargo would have been, and the quality of the people (true pet lovers) only heightened the experience.

My wife and I cannot begin to describe how wonderful Michael and PETS is. We were planning a move from Boston to Denver with our 2 four month old twins and our dog Winston who is our child. Given that we could not take Winston on the plane, we planned to make the drive with the entire family over 5 days. However 3 weeks before we were going to leave our babies entered a sleep regression (parents will know what this means) which essentially means they were not sleeping much at night. When they don't sleep, we don't sleep. We realized that driving cross country with minimal sleep was a dangerous and bad idea. My wife and kids and I could fly but what to do with Winston 2 weeks before we had to move? We found PETS online and gave Michael call realizing that we would likely be out of luck as we were 2 weeks away from the travel dates. The first thing Michael did was explain to us how he/his drivers would transport Winston either in their car or fly into Boston and drive Winston in our car. He was clear about how often the stop, what they do when they have to go to the bathroom, that they use drive-throughs to avoid leaving pets in the car unattended, etc. He also highlighted his USDA certificate and BBB rating. More importantly, he was nice and sympathetic with our situation - we were desperate. He had 2 drivers that could have done the job but 1 would have been a couple of days too early and 1 was going to be a couple of days too late. Finally, he took sympathy on us and said he would do the drive himself on the days we needed. We couldnt believe our luck. He was so genuine on the phone. Before we booked anything, though, we did our due diligence and looked up his reviews. We found 1 very negative review on BBB which we asked him about (it was so over the top that I could not actually believe it). He was more than open to discuss the circumstances around the customer complaint and at the end of the discussion I had no doubts that the fault was not on his company. The paperwork was extremely easy and everything was set.


He arrived on time and I picked him up from the airport. We had Winston in the car. Winston is a somewhat skittish dog but once he bonds to someone he showers them with love non-stop. By the time we got home from the airport (15 minutes) Winston was already giving Michael kisses. Michael took off at 11am and we flew out to Denver with our kids in tow the following day. Michael called us every few hours to give us updates and texted us pictures along the way. Michael made the drive in under 36 hours and we were reunited with Winston the following day. Winston did not want to leave Michael by the end of the drive. Having Winston happy and taken care of was invaluable to us. Michael and PETS was so flexible, down to earth, and caring. I was clear that he was an animal lover and at no time did I have any doubts that my Winston was receiving the best of care. Michael is a honorable person who values providing high quality service. I would use PETS again any day and recommend them to everyone I know. 


Michael and PETS came through for us at the last minute during a very stressful time in our life. We will always be thankful for what they did for us.

Mike Avery was always courteous and professional on the phone, he was upfront about all the requirements, procedures and prices, and he was knowledgeable about animal transportation (I had previously done some homework on the subject so knew he was on the mark!) His driver was prompt, had appropriate transportation and supplies, had a  pleasant manner, and was comfortable with our large dogs (German Shepard and Rottweiler). He made us feel at ease about the trip. The dogs were picked up on Saturday morning and delivered on Monday evening in great condition. What we liked most about Pet Express Transportation Services is that they took our dogs only, not a van full, stayed with the vehicle at all times, and hustled to get it done quickly and safely to minimize the stress on the dogs. This was a very positive experience. We were planning a move from Virginia to Minnesota and knew it would be about a 20-hour car trip for our two cats, who are not good travelers. I wanted to arrange transportation that would minimize their time in a moving vehicle and wanted to avoid having to take them to a motel. I found Pet Express Transport Service via Angie's List and reached out to the owner, Mike Avery, for additional information. He explained that they provide door-to-door ground transportation at a per-mile cost, and that our animals would be the only ones on whatever vehicle they used for the trip (i.e., they wouldn't group our animals with others' critters going to the same location or other spots along the way). Also, for a small upcharge, they would use a van for our transportation, and we could load any household belongings that we wanted to have transported along with our animals. I was a very nervous customer, as I knew my cats were "high maintenance" (though i was probably the one who deserved that description!) and difficult to crate, but Mike patiently answered all my questions and assured me that they would be in good hands. On the day of pickup, I was contacted by my driver, Bob, who was arrived just at the time he planned to. I had one of my cats already crated in our own (wire) crate and transferred him to the (hard sided) crate provided by PETS.We used a small litter box that I had ready to go, but Bob also had one that we could have used. While the cats might have been a little more comfortable in crate that was a bit larger, they did just fine. (One of our cats is jumbo sized--almost 20 pounds.) Bob kept in touch with me all along the way to let me know how the cats were doing and to provide calm reassurance that everything was going well--and it was. The cats arrived at their appointed location in Minnesota about 24 hours after they left our house in Virginia, and I believe the trip was as stress-free as it could have been for all concerned. Mike and Bob were extremely helpful, friendly, patient, and understanding, and I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again.

Excellent service. Fair price, neither highest nor lowest. Cared for pets as if their own. Professional and exceeded all expectations. I recommend wholeheartedly that you hire them if you need pet transportation service. I will use them, again, if the need arises.

We were so pleased with the service.  The men (2) who came to crate and transport our precious cats were kind, compassionate, and efficient, performing the service in about 24 hours.  They drove almost straight through non-stop with our cats.  They had no other animals except ours, so we felt the service was humane and individualized.  Our cats didn't have to be kept in large trucks with a myriad of other barking and meowing animals.  They were in the back of a smaller truck confined in comfortable crates which the company provided.  Two cats (siblings) were place in a single crate to keep each other company.  When they arrived at their new home, they were all in pretty good spirits and not traumatized as they would've been if they had to travel with dozens of other animals over a longer period of time with many stops and starts.  We really enjoyed the individualized attention, care and concern the company demonstrated.  The best part was that the price was so reasonable in comparison to all the other pet transport companies.  We received individualized service at a high standard and yet at a minimum cost.  It was great!

Open line of communication from beginning to end and they were very prompt. All of the dogs they delivered that afternoon looked well care for.  Great Service.  Highly recommend using them.

M y husband and I were extremely impressed by the professionalism, responsiveness and care that Mike demonstrated when we sought out transportation for our new puppy. Conditions were not favorable; as it was Thanksgiving week and the weather was horrible, we had serious concerns about subjecting a little dog to the risks of air travel. Even though we had given Mike very little advance notice, he answered our questions and assured us our pet would be taken care of. In exact accordance with his promise, Bob, a gentle animal lover and heroic driver, picked up Marley in Kentucky and, for the grueling twenty-seven hours that followed, maintained telephone contact with us throughout the journey. It's important to point out that Bob provided more than the essentials of a safe drive; he also gave Marley so much in the way of sensitive care and companionship that by the time they arrived at our door, the bonds they had forged on the road were evident to all of us.
In short, Pet Express Transport Service is exemplary in all respects. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

My suggestions to anyone wanting to contract with this service  are the following: Be sure that the animal carriers being used are safe and secure and that they are the correct size for your pet(s). Be sure the vehicle being used leaves adequate space for the driver to enter the area where the pets are being secured with the car securely closed and room to care for the animals. Limit the number of pets being transported based on the size of the vehicle and the size of the crates. Be sure that the person doing the driving is up to the task, especially if it is a long haul far from the location of the service. And be sure the person doing the driving is being paid most if not all of the cost!
I learned the hard way. The driver was elderly (an "Uncle" to the owner) and all the driving in bad weather really took a toll on him. The drive took a great deal longer than he expected and he arrived at my home at midnight exhausted. He said he was paid "a little bit" for all the work and was not given money to rent a room. I let him stay in my guest room and gave him $40 for food.  
At least two of my 9 cats escaped from the zippered canvas carriers and were under his feet for part of the drive. The carriers were too small for 4 cats in each carrier- litter and dirty water was everywhere (and urine and feces) and one cat was in a carrier too small for long distance- she was sitting in her litter box and covered with urine and feces.  There was no room in the small family sized van to adequately care for the cats.
I do not recommend this pet transport service for more than 2 pets, even if all of the above are rectified.

Private Pet Transport from NY to Fl. If you love your Dog as much as I love mine and want the peace of mind that your Dog will be in good hands at all times while being ground transported, then Pet Express is the only way to go, if you can afford private transport.  The minute Mike Avery arrived to pick up my dog, Rocky, he got down at Rocky's level to get acquainted.  In a matter of minutes, Mike and Rocky became comfortable buddies and remained buddies the whole way from NY to FL. Although the cost to transport was more than I planned to spend, it was worth it. No regrets!  I highly recommend Pet Express to all dog lovers that need private pet transport!

The breeder of my puppy uses Pet Transport.  The puppy left Missouri Monday afternoon, health papers in a folder, and the drivers were in touch with me throughout the trip to update me on the delivery times.  They were timely in the delivery for Wednesday night  - I met them at a central location and actually were 1 hour early.
The puppy was in excellent condition and seemed perfectly fine, even after having ridden for 2 1/2 days.
The verified the information, had me sign documents and left to deliver more puppies.
I would definitely recommend them for future deliveries.

Due to my Dad's somewhat lengthy hospitalization, we needed to relocate his two elderly dogs rather quickly. Mike and his crew were helpful and kind throughout the entire process. Bob and his wife (I'm terribly embarrassed to admit I've forgotten her name) made the long trip as easy as possible for old Duncan and Maggie. We are very grateful!

"Our" experience with Pet Express Transport Service couldn't have gone any better! Mike, the owner, knew how nervous I was and decided he should drive us himself. Mike is great! We searched for a company that would allow one of the pet owners to ride along and there doesn't seem to be that many. I also spoke to several other people that sang Mike's praises! Mike cares about all pets. When my cats were being a bit too quite Mike would pull into the nearest rest stop so we could check on them. Toward the end of the trip one of them was being very noisy, so again, he pulled into a rest stop so we could check on him. I was very apprehensive about going with someone I didn't know, although I had numerous phone conversations with Mike prior to our scheduled trip.  This was actually a move for us from one state to another.  Mike provided good size crates for the cats to travel in so that they didn't have to be in the carriers that I had for them that fit under an airline seat.  Mike provided small litter boxes with litter in each crate and fresh water, all I had to provide was food.  I even had a bunch of bedding and supplies for myself and the cats that I need to take along and Mike loaded it all in the vehicle and helped unloaded it when we got to our destination.  
I thought the trip would be awkward as I didn't know Mike but he is great, very upbeat, we had great conversation and he put my mind at ease so I was able to calm down quite a bit.......looking back all my worries left me and I was able to relax a bit.
The other people that I spoke to that had used Pet Express Transport Services had told me that they thought Mike and his company were too good to be true.......one person said he was a Godsend........his service really is that good and yes, he is a Godsend!   I also plan to use them if I get a rescue dog from another state.  Mike even called days later to see how all of us were doing in the new house!
