ARLINGHAUS BUILDERS

The toilets were installed mis-matched (white lid with bisque tank). They had to be taken out and redone! The hardwood floors were the wrong color wood (they installed a natural wood color, we picked chocolate oak which is almost black so it was a huge difference) They had to rip up the hardwood to put the color we picked down.... then when they fixed the color they had the wrong size hardwood (we wanted 3 inch hardwood and got 2 inch and they refused to fix it!!). I picked the vinyl floors for the bathrooms and the laundry room... every single one of them was installed with a vinyl that I had never even seen before! All had to be ripped up and redone! We would walk through the house every night to see what progress they had made and every day we'd have to make calls to bring attention to mistake after mistake. And it gets better... The walls and ceilings are painted terrible, there are paint blotches everywhere. I told the Arlinghaus representative that they should have used painters tape to make sure the lines were clean and straing. She said "They dont use tape, they've done this for years". I dont care how long they've painted, it looks awful! My husband is a civil engineer and deals with concete daily and tried to tell them that there wasnt enough support under the front porch and that it would crack. Their response was that they've done this for 30 years so "they know what they're doing". The porch was cracked before we even closed!! We were so concerned about the quality of our home that we hired an inspector before we'd agree to sign closing papers and it was a good thing we did! The shingles were hanging over the gutters so when it would rain water would just fall off the roof. The shower and both tubs were not calked. Windows were not properly installed and sealed (and they claim to be an energy star builder!) Since closing, we've had a pipe bust in the basement, we had to have the shower doors completely re-hung because they were leaking so bad. We've had to have windows replaced because we would hear a howling sound every time the wind blew. The fan in the master bathroom makes this really loud tapping sound. We're told them about it and they say they can't fix it. Its so loud it literally keeps us up at night! All I can say is build with any other company than Arlinghaus! They never return calls, they are unprofessional and have very poor quality of work!
