Ceramic Tile Service
The contractor was finishing up grouting the backsplash when he said that he needed to be paid in cash. I explained to him that I would be paying him by check and did not keep that kind of cash around the house. Furthermore, we had never discussed paying in cash. He then proceeded to ask me to go to the bank to get cash. It was Saturday at 6pm, banks were closed, and I did not have a debit card. Immediately, Mr. Aseree began screaming and yelling profanities. He became so enraged over not being paid in cash that his wife couldn't calm him down. I was in complete shock and frightened by his behavior. I told him that I was going to call the police if he did not leave my house. He then made his wife ask me if I was going to pay them. I said "yes" under duress to get these people out of my house. When he walked out of my house, I locked all the doors and paid his wife by check. Even though the work was not completely finished and a mess was left in my kitchen from where he spilled a bucket of grout slurry, I wanted them out of my house. Furthermore, I was fearful of what might happen if he didn't get paid in full. I have never experienced anything like this from anyone but especially from a contractor in my home. The behavior was as if a light switch had been flipped. This person should not be allowed to come into someone's home as a hired professional and behave in that manner. Unsuspecting homeowners need to be aware.
