Flooring
Called and spoke to Devin about replacing carpet and vinyl. He was very helpful and scheduled an installer to measure for the job. Devin followed up before the installer measured. Devin turned out to be the only helpful person from Lowes in this estimate.
When the installer came, he spent about 20% of the time the other estimators had done measuring the same flooring. He suggested using an option for vinyl installation that would require wasting almost a third of the purchase. He was not sure where seams would go if we went with a less expensive option for the laundry and adjoining bathroom.
He told us he would get the measurements to Lowes the next afternoon. When we told him of our tight schedule for decision-making, since we were coming from out of town, he said he would go to the store when he left.
I called the next morning and Devin was not going to be back for 3 days. I explained our time schedule and just wanted to know the amount of carpet the installer calculated (Lowes prices its carpet including the installation, so we could calculate the approximate cost) and vinyl installation price (to which we would add the vinyl cost). He said the installer should have the measurements in the afternoon and we could come by the store the next morning to get our estimate. Alternatively, he said we could wait until Monday to see Devin, who had helped us before. When I told him that the installer had told us that he was going to the store the evening before with the measurements, he said he would have to go up front to see. He called back a few minutes later with a carpet measurement 100 sq ft larger than any of the other 3 measurements done on the same space. He also gave me an installation price on the vinyl that was 50-100% higher than the other estimates. His general lack of interest and the installers over-estimating the scope of the job earns Lowes a bad grade. We will continue to shop for DIY, but not for installation.

I ordered it from Lowes online and when it arrived it was damaged. Lowes was very helpful in finding a replacement unit. There was a scheduling conflict that came up; they were supposed to be here at 4 p.m. and instead arrived at 8 a.m. I was not prepared for this. I also had a conflict with their professionalism at times. I like their products, but the people are not always professional. I suppose I would use them again in the future.

They subcontract. They weren’t cheap. They were extremely attentive during the sale, set up, visiting hours and everything. Once everything is contracted and installed, they try to back away and aren’t helpful. I may use them in the future. It depends on the subcontractor that one gets.
