UPDATE: Joe Hancock called me to tell me because I left a negative Google review, he will not refund any money nor send techs out to fix the issue. I knew he would make personal attacks when I read how he responded to other reviewers. If you are contemplating using this company, think about the type of person the owner is. Do you really want to give this man your money?? First time I used this company,, Aaron installed a new gas line and a set of gas logs for the fireplace. Great experience! The last 2 times we've used this company, the services paid for were not completed. The previous time, we called and they sent the tech back out to finish the job, which was basically telling us he couldn't fix the leak and we needed to install a new faucet. This most recent time, I called and said I thought I had a blocked plumbing vent. They sent 2 techs who never went on the roof and just capped where we are going to install a shower and toilet in our renovation. $293! And the smell is still strong throughout the house. I'll call H20 Maestro out of Lexington. I've used them for larger jobs and have never been disappointed. I wish I had called them first but worried they'd cost more. But I've learned my lesson- reliability is worth the cost, and I wouldn't be throwing away nearly $300 for nothing.

Response from Whitehead-Hancock
"Mrs. [Member Name Removed] I have looked into your complaint and agree 100% that we made mistakes with service and repair of your system. I will be talking to the Techs that were onsite about the smoking and the dirty shoes, this is not the way we do business. I would also like to point out that we did come back out on January 5 to fix your problem and to my knowledge the system is working. I would also like to point out that you have never been billed or paid for any services. We did realize mistakes were made with the first diagnosis, therefore we didn't bill you when we fixed the problem."

They came right out and made the repair on both calls. They preformed on time for both projects. Would definitely call them again.

We discovered a leak late one night and called the next morning to get someone to help with fixing the issue. I called mid morning and was told by a nice person that it would probably be late afternoon or the next morning before they could come however I received a call about an hour later and the plumber was there by 1:00 pm.  He identified the problem immediately and had it fixed within 5 minutes.  He was helpful and gave me advice about the faucet that had caused the problem and how to prevent it from happening again.

They did come out when they said they would and installed a water pressure regulator, BUT they made a huge 18" x 24" hole in our foundation and never fixed it.
One guy went under the house and some guys worked outside. My husband had just been diagnosed with a serious illness and did not go outside to check what they left. When the pipes froze a few weeks later, I went out back and saw why: They had removed a giant stone from the foundation - house is a hundred years old -- and never replaced it.  I looked in through the open hole and saw the pipe they had installed less than a foot inside the crawl space.  No wonder it froze!
They did come back when called, thawed the pipes with a salamander, and rolled the stone back in front of the hole, but they never fixed the hole they left, and we never called them again.  We use Next Generation Plumbing now.
Response from Whitehead-Hancock
"[member name removed] I do remember this situation and apologize for your inconvenience. We had to remove a section of the foundation due to the fact the house is 100 years old and had no access to the very tight crawl space. At the time I was unaware of the fact that we didn't put the stone back or seal around it properly. When the pipes froze I sent someone to thaw the lines and seal around the opening. I did not send a bill realizing our mistake. Again I apologize for the mistake and the inconvenience during a troubling time with your family. Please accept my apology, Joe Hancock. If you need to discuss this further please don't hesitate to call or email. 502-227-2213 [email removed]"

They were on time and the job took less than 15 minutes. It was done fast and efficiently. However there were 2 people who came to install which was rather much as we were charged labor at $75 per hour for each of them. That was very odd as the job did not require 2 people.

At first the job seemed well done, and although a little pricier than we would have liked, we were pleased with it overall. Then noticed the flooring in the bathroom was wet. We thought that it was where the toilet had been set while work was being done, and thought nothing of it. Then the floor kept getting wetter. Upon opening the cabinet underneath the bathroom sink, found it filled with water - the work performed on the pipes had popped loose the drain connection and water was flowing from the drain into the cabinet for 3 days. So the majority of the water from the drain was ending up in the cabinet beneath the bathroom sink. We did some emergency repair over the weekend, and called WH first thing Monday morning.
The owner came out to look at the problem and the damage (including a warped floor). Said they had nothing to do with the problem, even going so far as denying that some of the work performed was done by their people. In essence called us liars. Refused to do anything to make up for their damage.

**Update after reading the service provider's response of 5-19-15:

We clearly explained to everyone we spoke with at Whitehead Hancock that we were doing a bathroom remodel, and that was why we contracted with them to replace the pipes.

Had Whitehead Hancock come to check out the damage with an open mind, they would have found that replacing 4 small floorboards and an hour of their time would have kept us as a customer, and their reputation unblemished.
Response from Whitehead-Hancock
"Mrs. [member name removed]'s complaint is not valid. The customer had a leaking faucet that we did not touch, even had the water turned off to the faucet, which was causing the leak. The home owner is in the process of remodeling their bathroom, as was evident of the plastic used as shower walls, and wanted me to pay for a problem we didn't cause. The homeowner stated himself that he installed the drain for the lavatory and the drain on the waste and overflow, which was evident by the different color glue on the PVC Joints. We were contracted to replace a power vent water heater and replace the cast iron piping in the basement, which we completed in a professional manner. I'm not going to be strong armed into paying for a bathroom remodel when that is not what we were contracted for."

I was away with work when my water began to leak. Luckily, the and quot;escapedand quot; water found its way into the crawlspace damaging only the flooring around the water heater. The next business day, a Monday, I visited the office and spoke with Joe about the leak. I explained the damage and that I would be leaving with work again before the coming weekend. Explaining my timeline further was not necessary, Joe understood my urgency. He had a team at my home before lunch to remove the very tired water heater and placed fans to dry the floor. The next day a team arrived to reinforce the floor framing and replace the damaged sub-flooring. Then, installation of a new water heater. That evening I had a welcomed hot shower! The reaction time and service provided by Whitehead -Hancock...well, I could not have asked anymore from them. They were outstanding!

Our central air unit stopped blowing cold air. It had been inspected a couple of weeks earlier and was fine. Whitehead-Hancock responded quickly. They found an electrical component that had gone bad and replaced it. They also replaced the filter screen in the duct work. Also replaced lost Freon. And as they had done the earlier inspection on it, they discounted the cost of the inspection off this bill.
We have used Whitehead-Hancock for all out HVAC and plumbing needs. My parents used them also. We have found them to quick to respond, do good work, and don't charge an arm and leg. We will continue to use them

Over the past 10 years, I've used W-H a half dozen times to unclog drains, reroute a drain pipe, replace a broken commode and most recently to replace a ruptured water heater. They are always prompt, thorough and professional. The water heater rupture was discovered about noon on a Thursday. They had two guys over by 2:30 to determine what kind of replacement I needed. They assured me it would be installed before the weekend. Mid morning on Friday, they appeared with a new water heater. It took them less than two hours to replace and haul away my old one. The cost was less than the estimate.
In general, W-H is a little pricey, but their quick response and quality work are nearly always worth it.

We had a leaking faucet for the washer hookup that was a little beyond my skill level so I submitted a request on their website. I received a call-back within 30 minutes and received an estimate over the phone and scheduled an appointment.
Rob from Whitehead-Hancock arrived at 2:06 and was done by 3:40. He not only replaced the faucet, he also changed it from a solder-based connection to a threaded one so if we need to replace the faucet in the future, we won't need to call a plumber. He was thorough, professional, and courteous.
Happily, the final cost came in within the range of the estimate. Two thumbs up!

The finished product looks great. They were courteous and punctual. The problem was that we only needed them to come twice, but they actually had to come four times - twice to do the work and twice to correct erroneous work. They did not charge for the redo either time, but one of us had to take off work to be here every time, so it was inconvenient. Overall we are pleased with the new bath.

I used them in the past and I have like them. At that time, I thought they were a little high so I just trying somebody else locally. I like them. They were nice. They were professional and everything. I just shop around I guess this time so they were fine. I was pleased with them. I guess you can give them a try. They are certainly fairly well known in the community and professional and did their job in a timely manner.

We had opened our basement for use as an apartment for a friend of ours. The basement was set up for use as separate living quarters, but had not been used for anything but storage in two decades. When our friend arrived, we discovered that the sprayer on the kitchen sink leaked and that the drain pipe for the clothes washer was clogged. I attempted to fix both problems and failed. I could not replace the sprayer on the sink, because the unit was too old (50+ years) and I could not find compatible parts and I could not replace the whole faucet anmd sprayer because the old unit was soldered into place. I tried to use an auger to clear the drain but the problem was deeper than I could reach. I called Whitehead Hancock on a Friday evening. They said they would send someone the following Monday.
The plumber showed up after calling Monday morning and fixed both problems in 2 hours. He installed the faucet that I had attempted to install myself and cleared the drain. Both problems took him two hours.

My overall experiences with this company have been good. They arrived within the stated time frame. The work was performed as expected each time, and they cleaned up when finished. My only dissatisfaction was with their pricing. It seems to be higher than other plumbing companies in this area.
