What we found out later was that this mortgage company ruined our credit for 6 months because they "hit" our credit report -checking it many times for the same loan attempt. Since the credit reporting agencies will reject a credit request in excess for a person, we were effectively cut off from not only checking out mortgage prices with any other company but for ANY credit request we made for that timeframe. Feels like a shady business practice to me.
Description of Work: We met with this mortgage company to determine if a refinance of our home would reduce our monthly payment. At first, the person we met with was cordial and helpful. He took our personal information to run a credit check and we expected them to do so. Our loan was rejected due to the property 'appearing' to be a modular home. When the final paperwork was done, we were to meet the person who started our paperwork only to find he had quit.
