Exterior Painting
The contractor started this project on 10/7/13 and finished on 11/1/13. On any given day, he worked from 2.25 hours to 6.75 hours. He used more than twice as much paint as estimated. There was very little prep work, which consisted of some scraping and caulking. He did not clean anything off before painting, just painted over it. The paint looks rough in places where it should be smooth. He got paint on the gutter helmet, the brick, and plantings around the house. He painted the carport with a roller. The paint bubbled in several places and, when he repaire it, he did not sand and he used a brush. One can see where he re-painted. He did not clean any paint off until the end of the job. When he cleaned the gutter helmet, the original paint came off in several places. Since the weather was getting colder, I told the contractor that we would not paint the inside of the porch until spring. When we did the final check, he had not cut the windows loose and every one was stuck shut. He broke two storm windows while painting and did not mention it to me. I had to tell him, and he did pay for replacement.
Overall, the quality of the finished product is what I would expect to see, and have seen, on rental properties. It looks fine from the street, but not up close. I will not use him again.
