We've done some stuff with the kitchen and we're taking the old pantry out and putting a new one in and moving some cabinets and putting a couple of new ones in and then he needs to repaint the ceiling because the old pantry is like a closet and the new one is cabinetry so that would leave a corner of where we took the wall out so he got to paint it, that's not included in the cost of the cabinets or anything, we're paying for that. He came out when he said he would, that was within a day or 2 of my husband calling him and we've gotten his name from the company we ordered the cabinets from and I looked him up on Angie's List and he had very good reviews. He said he'd be back to us in a week or so with the estimate and for that time I was out of town and my husband said he got the estimate and he said that it is like cheaper than the plumber's estimate was for doing his part of the work and then I got back to my husband and told him, you know when he would be able to do the work. And he seems very knowledgeable and one of the things that we haven't thought of is when we took the pantry out, there would be this piece that needed to be repainted and other little things and the same things we hadn't thought of. It was so far, so good. I really wouldn't comment on that until he finishes the work.

The builders of my home had installed two small doors (together) between the master bedroom and bath that were awkwardly placed and did not lock. I wanted them replaced with one truly functional door, and have the remaining part of the space drywalled, giving me more wall space in the bathroom and adjoining bedroom. I also wanted to have the bathroom fan replaced. John came and measured, and we discussed the project. While we were talking I asked him to also help me out with re-doing the kitchen pantry (another builder blunder) to replace the builder grade wire racks with wood shelving. John came up with a creative solution to installing the new shelves to allow me to adjust the shelf heights while also satisfying my need to have the rack system less visible. Both the kitchen and pantry were completed over a brief period. The new bathroom door matches the existing doors in the house, so you can't tell it was done later. The framing and drywall were well done, and John sanded and painted everything to match. In the pantry, John patched the holes where the old shelves had been, sanded and painted the interior and installed shelves cut to fit the space exactly. I now have more shelves than I did before and I can configure them any way I need. Very satisfied with both projects. A few months later, I had carpet installed in the house, over my hardwood floors. Due to the additional height, this caused the bottoms of some of the bedroom doors to rub across the carpet. John came over and took each of the doors off the hinges and trimmed the bottoms down until there was enough clearance to freely open and close them. He was very meticulous about how much to cut off, and was very careful to assure that the doors didn't ding the walls as he took them off and put them back on.

1) Book cases were built in sections and went from one end of the room to the other. 2) Picked up counter and installed then and hand built a matching island.
