Retaining Wall Masters LLC

Retaining Wall Masters repaired a leaning retaining wall at the end of our driveway.  We were getting ready to put our home on the market and this was one of the first things potential buyers would see when they viewed our property.  The RWM crew was punctual and very polite and the work was completed on schedule.  We would highly recommend this company to anyone needing retaining wall expertise.

Jeff Earl was the only contractor that gave me another choice beyond Allan block to build the retaining wall.  Allan block did not make sense to me because the wall would not be seen by anyone on the back side of the wall.  It also was a cheaper option than what I got from other contractors.  Plus, I wanted a wall that I felt more secure with in terms of strength for the next 20 years or so.  Jeff offered me that with a retaining wall built with I-beams and 6x6 timbers.  First, they drilled 24 inch holes 8 ft. apart from 4-7 feet deep.  I-beams were inserted and concrete was poured to hold them in place.  Timbers were placed between the I-beams and secured to the beams with brackets that were welded to the beams.  Brackets were also welded to the beams to the bottom of the beams to insure the timbers would be level.  85 tons of gravel were placed behind the wall to make sure water flowed away from my house.  A geo-fabric was laid on the gravel before topsoil was put down to keep the soil separated from the gravel.  Also, a barrier was put onto the interior of the wall so that the soil did not come into contact with the wood.  As a hand rail on top of the wall, Jeff built one that matched the one that I have on my deck.  That was a lot more work than just putting up wrought iron or a pre-made fence.  Finally, Jeff seeded and put straw on the new topsoil as well as any areas that were damaged by heavy equipment.
Overall, I am very pleased with the retaining wall.  Jeff knows what he is doing.  He is a little cocky but he does back it up.  His main crew of Chris and BB were very good at what they did.  They were on time and worked hard when they were here.  My only complaint is with the amount of time it took and the laborers Jeff uses from a temporary agency.  The time was much longer than anticipated.  Some of that was because of weather but some was because of the laborers not showing up to work.  Jeff needs to evaluate whether full time employees as laborers might be a better option than the temporary ones.
This wall was about 190 feet and it was anywhere from 4 to 9 foot tall.  I feel very comfortable with the outcome.  I have an engineering degree and feel very confident in what was done.  I now have a place that actually can be used in my back yard.  I will recommend to Retaining Wall Masters to my friends in the future.  Thanks Jeff for a job well done.

I had a large section of a 12' x 30' stone wall collaspe in my backyard. The day I signed the contract they started to work on the wall because of the seriousness of the house foundation slipping. They rebuilt the wall making it thicker and stronger. They also braced the new wall and existing wall with helical tie backs. What made this project more difficult was getting access to the walls. Two large storage sheds had to be moved, a chainlink fence taken down, and a large piece of equipment brought in. They came up with creative ways to solve these problems and everything was back in place when they were done. Jeff, the owner, was in constant contact with me through out the project. The price was expensive but consistant with other bids I got.

Perfect from start to finish. On time as scheduled. Professional. Kept us involved during the entire project. He built our wall which including a great deal of engineering, knowledge, and expertise to the tee! The wall is and has been flawless! We love it and would definitely recommend Jeff and Retaining Wall Masters to anyone looking for perfect work!

The overall experience was great...He showed up on time and when he said he would be here. The work was performed in the time frame he quoted and it was on budget. I will use Jeff and Retaining Wall Masters again.
