My garage door would not come down. I called Overhead Door via the Angies list number. I thought that they would know since I was calling through Angies List that they would apply their $10.00 off coupon, but they didn't. When the tech arrived he was friendly enough, and saw the problem immediately. My sensors were put on backwards. He put them on and that was the fix. A 30 second mix. I was a little embarrassed but happy that the garage door was fixed. However, my garage door system was put in by a house flipper in 2014 and it was done in a gerrymandered way, and it definitely wasn't installed properly. But it's been working for 5 years without problems. The tech then quoted me $750 to make the needed changes to the garage door system. However the reason for the poor review is what happened next. Once I told him that I have currently have a contract job and money is tight right now therefore, I wouldn't go with the $750.00 fix. He seemed disappointed and then told me about how he has 5 kids and works all the time to provide for his family. More words were said than that, but essentially I felt as if he was trying to deploy guilt and shame for not moving with the better solution. He repeated multiple times, "There's nothing more I can do for you." Which I found odd. Just left a bad experience feeling like since I didn't get the big sale it's jump in the truck on move on. He said he's been doing garage doors for 30 years so I'm sure you chances of getting him if you use them are good. I'm sure he's a very capable technician but he's not much of a salesman, and forget empathy. I'm also disappointment in Angies List and Overhead Door for not discounting me the discount. This reflects poorly on Angies List as well.
