On April 29, 2013, Lynda Weis Kolpak, Representative of the J. C. Penney Corporation, P. O. Box 10001, Dallas, Texas 75301-0001, came to my home to discuss making new valances for my study. I signed the Sales Agreement for 2 valances totaling $808.78. Each valance was a Summer Valance, 17" x 39-1/2", lined, fade proof, 1 year warranty, Carole Fabrics, pattern Memo Wilsby Lapis, style Summerton 1032-5, color 133.
On or about May 20, Greg installed the valances. They were creased & wrinkled & did not hang smoothly. On June 10 Lyn came out to discuss the valances & agreed that they were creased & wrinkled & did not hang smoothly & should be taken down, pressed, & reinstalled. They were taken down and pressed. On July 12 Greg reinstalled the valances. The valances were still creased & wrinkled & did not hang smoothly. On July 19 Lyn came out to discuss the valances & agreed that they were still creased & wrinkled & did not hang smoothly & that it was possibly because each valance was 2" wider than the rod and had been squeezed onto the rod. She said she would see what her supervisor could do about the problem.
I received a call from Lyn a few days later saying that her supervisor was willing to install wider rods for approximately $57 more to make it right. I believe the valances should have been installed properly in the beginning and I should not be charged an additional $57.
