BPG - Matt Neary

Good.

Matt was easy to work with when getting the initial information, cost and during scheduling. He was very pleasant but he’s a man of few words and really prefers inspecting the house on his own (compared to previous inspections I’ve been part of, where we tracked with the person and they explained what they were looking for, how things worked, etc.). We tried to follow Matt around but it was clear he wished we wouldn’t and besides it wasn’t terribly productive because he didn’t say much. After a few offers that he could handle it, we did let him go off and inspect, but I assumed at the end he’d discuss findings with us in some detail. But at the end, he basically said everything was fine. His report followed and was also very brief and positive. I don’t fault him for it being positive – I do think the house was in great shape. But still I would have appreciated learning more about it. We bought the house, and later sold the house we were living and when the buyers’ inspector came through, it was a stark difference – MUCH more detailed and thorough. A nice guy but I wouldn’t use him again.

I called Neary Inspections, and we were able to make an appointment conveniently and easily. I have an older home, and I have been worried that I might have some hidden, but major, items that needed to be fixed, before I sell my home. I had extensively renovated my home, just after purchasing it 10 yrs. ago, but you still worry that something could have been missed, or deteriorated, since that time. Mr. Neary thoroughly examined the wiring and plumbing, my major concerns, as I know the least about these systems. I had replaced the windows and roof, as well as some of the plaster walls. I knew that the basement was never a problem as far as leaking, so I was never too concerned about any one thing, just a general feeling of needing to make sure that everything was OK. Mr. Neary was reassuring and seemed confident in his observations and knowledge; it was definitely a worthwhile investment to do this inspection. Now I can put my house on the market with utmost confidence, and I know that my home will stand up to any home inspection that a buyer might want to get!
