Unprofessional. Unresponsive. Unreliable. Our experience with Armor Services: 1. An unsupervised crew unfamiliar with the English language. 2. A two day project, turned into three, due to the wrong color shingle being installed. 3. No concern for the damage which was incurred on our property during the work. 4. Nearly 3 months of unresponsive communication about the damage, followed by two months of false statements promising to send a $900 reimbursement for the repair, that we were forced to do on our own.
Armor Services arrived on day one and began removal of old shingles. They were tossed in a truck parked at the edge of our garage. Early that afternoon, we questioned one of the crew about the color of shingles being installed. They did not match what we ordered. During this conversation, it became apparent that the crew leader did not have a complete command of the English language. Another worker translated and assured us they were the correct shingles. We were still suspect of the color. At noon of the second day, the Armor Services representative we signed the contract with, arrived and informed us that indeed the wrong color was being installed, since the day before. After refusing an offer of a discount, should we accept the wrong shingles, the wrong color shingles were ripped up and tossed in the large open bed truck parked at the edge of our garage door. The project, now into an unscheduled third day, was finished well into that evening. After the crew left, we discovered extensive damage to brickwork, in two spots, at the edge of the garage where their truck was parked. I asked Armor Services to inspect the damage, stating our belief that his company was responsible. On September 3rd, we were promised a representative would inspect the damage. After repeated weekly emails, about that inspection taking place, we finally got a response October 23rd, that our representative would do the inspection. After he did, he promised to repair the damage. He then evaporated. After repeated attempts to follow up, we were only met with no responses and no repairs. In mid-November, we had no choice, with the impending freeze-thaw cycle, which would mean even more damage to the bricks, we hired someone highly recommended on Angie?s List to do the repair. We sent Armor Services the ensuing $900 bill, with photos and measurements of the damage. Armor Services informed us, in writing, that they would reimburse us the $900. It is now 5 months since the damage, and we have no check, and no response.

we are currently in the process of buying a house. The roof needed to be replaced. Since the insurance agreed to pay for 100%, I do not know the cost. I was given the contact information. Sales persons was very difficult to get a hold of. Without exception, he never answered his phone and I would have to call 2 times, leaving voice mails both time, to get 1 return phone call. This includes contacting him the first time to discuss the job, then getting the samples to pick a color, then again to return the sample, then again about the warranty. Because of the poor communication, if the insurance company did not mandate we use them, I would not have used them. Because of poor communication, I will not use them again.
The work was done when promised and completed it in 2 - 13 hour days! They really worked hard and fast. I believe they did quality work.

Got a quote from Shawn Quals and thought it was good price and fair. Chose shingles from his samples. They were installed a week later including replacing two wood pieces where there was water damage and new boots. Shawn was there to oversee work. Gutter work done two weeks later. Shawn there again to supervise. He made the gutter guys come back second day because he did not like their work in three spots. He was very meticulous and the entire job looks great. I think the job looks wonderful and would recommend Armor. Especially would recommend Shawn as he is very knowledgable and detail oriented. I think he is an expert.

Our roof and siding were damaged during the Great Wind Storm of 2008. Armor responded very quickly by sending out a crew to repair our roof. They charged $250 for the repair of the shingles. We thought that was a fair price. They also put up a tarp over our damaged siding to protect the house from the weather until we figured out what we were going to do about that. They charged $75 for putting up the tarp. Also a fair price. They put together an estimate for the siding repair which we thought was expensive. So in the end, we picked another company to repair the siding.

I went with Armor because they were the best price of the three estimates I got, they were members of the BBB and I was impressed by the salesman. At the time there were no reports or maybe one for them on Angie's List. I was initially happy with the work which they completed on time. Within a couple months however a piece of the siding came loose; they came (after a several calls) and reattached it - we had had strong wind and I was not too troubled by this. Within two years I had leaking reappear around my chimney - the leak that originally pushed me to hire them in the first place. Again they came to 'repair' - the roofer just applied more caulk sealant around the flashing; while working he actually ran out of sealant and I ended up giving him some that I had to finish the job. Leaking has since resumed. Earlier this summer I noticed that there was standing water a couple inches deep in the gutter above the front porch. Apparently the gutter 'professionals' who installed it, didn't know that gutters have to slant so that water is directed toward the drain hole. I called at least a half dozen times over several weeks to request that they rehang it and despite my leaving messages with the answering service with my address and phone numbers every time, they never returned my calls (the closest I got was speaking to an office manager who was going to look up my file and get back to me). The answering service even took note on the last message that I had called numerous times and was getting very frustrated. I ended up by finally giving up and rehanging the gutter myself. I have called other roofers to see about repairing the leak around the chimney as I no longer trust Armor to do it correctly (assuming I could get them to come at all) - this will cost me an additional several hundred dollars. Estimators' comments on the current flashing have ranged from, "not the prettiest job I've seen" to even "incorrectly done" (for example the seams were not sealed/welded). I would breakdown the work I had done thus: Roof shingles - A, Flashing - D, Gutters - D, Siding - B. Customer Service: sales A, repairs D. I feel I have given them more than enough opportunity to stand by their work. I can only hope that my report here might ease their sales a bit so that they have more time to respond to their phone calls. You can probably do better than these guys.

They came one day they finished on time, they cleaned up and they were all fine and so far the work seems great, they gave us the cheapest estimate and the price was right.

They had to put on new wood and notified me of that in advance and let me know it would probably cost $1900. They found out they didn't need to replace as much and lowered that price to $1200. They put this on last winter and they were very dependable in coming everyday until it was done. They did a wonderful clean-up job.
