ABES Pest Control Inc.

This provider received a rating of 5 from me for bed bug treatment in 2015. When we discovered bed bugs last month, we decided to use them again. In the interim, ABES had been bought by OPC Pest Services. This time, we were first introduced to Kemuel, whose job was obviously to sell us. He left us under the impression that the treatment would be comparable to what we received in 2015, though the cost was to be $750. compared to $325. He led us to believe that we would have to leave for a few hours after the treatment to avoid breathing the fumes from the pesticide. The great news was that it could be done today. He left us with his phone number, in case we had any further concerns. A short time later, the technician Brock appeared with his approximately 1-gallon sprayer filled with Sterifab (Isopropyl Alcohol). He invested less than 45 minutes, largely spraying around seams on our sofa, loveseat, and queen mattress. Highly unprofessional. Much more to say, but I'm out of space.

We were unhappy at first because when we scheduled the appointment we informed the company that we were very concerned we had raccoons under our house in the crawl space, and possibly chipmunk activity as well. We wanted the raccoons removed and prevented from returning. This was made very clear. One of us scheduled time off from work to meet Dave at our place. Dave arrived more or less on time, no problem. But upon inspection he found no evidence of access points where raccoons could get in, but did find droppings which he said could be dog or raccoon (no dogs could be under our house, so we know it confirmed our suspicions). But Dave could not tell if it was fresh or old droppings (based on the sounds we heard under the house, it was fresh). Ok, what are we going to do about it? Dave said their company can't really do raccoon removal, they focus mostly on mice, and that we're too far out from their office to check traps daily, etc. This was a surprise since we hired them specifically for this concern. Obviously, in the end, we just want the problem taken care of. Dave apologized and took our $125 check and left. He did spend a reasonable amount of time looking and sliding around under the house in the crawl space. For the records, there are some gaps that we know of, but were not aware raccoons could fit through them. Okay, so we were pretty upset and disappointed. Yes, it was helpful to have some level of verification for what we thought was going on, but not what we expected we were paying for. So I called ABES the next day and ended up speaking with Jeff, the owner. Jeff was very understanding, didn't make excuses other than that they do tend to defer the larger animal trapping/elimination during this part of the season. He offered to refund half our payment without me asking for it, which we felt was fair especially in light of his willingness to have a conversation about the challenges of the problem, recommendations and info about things we could do, and to send contact info for others who he felt may be able to help. So this is a mixed review. We called ABES because they service our area and had a good rating on Angie's List, and because we had briefly exchanged communications a few years ago about a different matter and that conversation made me think they (Jeff in particular) were very reasonable and professional people—trustworthy. So in light of the resolution of this issue and how Jeff handled it, I would still recommend them, but also recommend being EXTRA clear upfront about what you expect, and possibly ask to talk to Jeff directly if there is anything uncertain about the situation, or what you will get from a visit/inspection.

Excellent!! I highly recommend Abes Pest Control. Job thoroughly done well. Jim was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Hard to find good people/service like this!

Seems to have worked as promised

I found evidence of moles after mowing my lawn the first time this year. After reviewing Angie's List, I called ABES. They sounded good on the phone, and Jeff was punctual and courteous when he showed up to give me an estimate. It wasn't cheap, but he showed me evidence in several other places around my house where he found evidence of moles that I did not see. He explained his programs and was honest about expectations after treatment. He provided several follow-up appointments to make check if additional treatments were needed, but they were not. As far as I can tell, his program took care of the problem. Jeff and his company were pleasant to deal with, and I would use them again if I had a need to.

Jim, came out to the house. He was personable, professional and knowledgeable. The application seems to have corrected the problem. I will most likely call them in the fall for a follow up application.

Easy and fast

Jeff, arrive on time and pointed out location of runs and hills. He determined the most likely entry point onto our property and prescribed a quick solution. Since it was an early stage with only one significant run, he chose to treat immediately. We received follow up instructions and are confident that our problem is resolved for now.

Everything was performed in a timely manner. They were able to get me an appointment within a couple days. Bait was applied to help prevent mice, dusted crawlspace, sprayed indoors where possible. Inside was done first to prevent bringing in dirt from crawlspace. Technician was friendly and knowledgeable.

The experience was good, I liked them.

Technician arrived promptly. Walked the area with my husband to insure accurate coverage. Clearly explained timing for allowing our dog back onto the treated area. Products used worked like a charm. Would definitely hire again.

The company sent out an very nice employee very quickly, and he determined that I did not have a bed bug infestation. I was impressed that they were honest enough to let me know that I did not need to spend the money! I had pre-paid through Angie's List, and it took longer than I hoped to get a reimbursement, but everyone at ABES was professional and helpful. I would definitely use them if I need an exterminator.

It was quick. Provider found a small area after searching the whole house and showed me exactly where it was and what the options were as well as his professional suggestion.

Awesome job, price & the guy was nice professional &offered advice. We're renewing with ABES to come back next year.
