I took my dog up there to get spayed & 3 days later of being in a cone & being sedated, half of her stitches busted open & she was bleeding heavily so I had to rush her to an animal hospital ER on Outer loop & pay $200 to get it fixed up the right way. I called the staff at Elk Creek & asked to speak to a manager. As soon as the manager got on the phone she had an attitude & wouldn’t let me get a word in, I said the F word once & she hung up after I sat there & listened to her yell at me that they did nothing wrong. I then went up to Elk Creek to talk civil with her & she wouldn’t come outside, started yelling at me again over the phone & then threatened to call the police on me. I will never trust my pets here again! Her incision was poorly stitched & my dog almost died, & the manager won’t even talk to me about it, all she did was yell & interrupt me & threatening to call the police & then lied to them & told them I made a terroristic threat towards her when all I did was sit in my car & try to talk civil but she kept interrupting me, she lied to the police & tried to get me arrested all because I wanted to talk to her because their office almost killed my dog, she was bleeding everywhere. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!

We've been bringing our pets there for about 2 and frac12; years. They're excellent. They make you feel very welcome and they're very accommodating. We originally took our dogs there because our original vet couldn't get the skin allergies under control.

We were keeping my daughters dog for her and he ran out of his Rx food that she purchase through her dogs vet in St Matthews. I called Elk Creek and they had the food in stock as long as we brought a can to verify that he was using the Rx food. Well I walked in and could not believe how clean and pleasant the place was inside! Since we had recently moved to this area from Louisville, we had found another vet office that provided grooming so we went there, but after seeing how much cleaner and professional Elk Creek is, we are going to transfer here and bonus! - there is a groomer practically next door that affiliates with Elk Creek. Also, the Rx food was reasonably priced and neatly stored in an area that you can walk in and pick out yourself

We've moved around the country a bit and have used several vets. Elk Creek is by far the best we have ever found. The entire staff is clearly interested in the best for your pets. Even when I took our hamster there for an infection on his leg, he got a thorough check-up and we got some good advice on how to give him his antibiotics.
We have used Dr. Brad Bennet and Dr. Alex Shelley - both were very caring and professional.
I talk to a lot of pet owners and have heard nothing but good things about them. Their prices are outstanding compared to going into Louisville.

I have been using Elk Creek Animal Hospital for many years. I have 3 dogs, one is a dachshund with epliepsy and back problems. I know that all the vets and staff there have my dogs best interest at heart, and are wonderful dealing with the animals as well as with me. Always very pleasant and great to work with.

They have always treated my pets better than any other VET office. They have cared for emergencies and long term health problems as well as end of life care. I've never had a better more compassionate, knowledgable VET office.

They give excellent care. They have had to flush his system and make him throw up multiple times.

I go here a lot. I have had all sorts of veterinarian calls in the last few years. My one dog has seizures. The other had a torn knee which she tore up during recovery a couple times. She also had splinters in her feet from the deck. They both have had facial swelling and itching incidents from allergies. We have always received excellent care and service from Dr. Shelley and Dr. Bennett. They usually answer all my questions before I can even ask them. The office staff is friendly and service is fast. They remember my name and my dogs' names which I appreciate. I like that I get treated like a person rather than a number which is what I found in various other vet offices in this city.

Took our dog there for a mass on her side and the xray showed the mass was not connected to any bone and was outside the chest area, altho a large mass I had them remove it and they did a biopsy. The biopsy results showed cancer but were inconclusive on what type due to the sample being incorrect ( we have the official findings report). They removed the drain a few days later and advised the wound was fine altho it was still draing alot. A few days later the wound began to turn black and fall apart, with the skin literally melting within hours in an area the size of a softball. Called the Vet and even sent him photos since it was a weekend, but he advised it would be fine that she had cancer and nothing could be done to just make an appointment Monday. Despite being told how rapidly it was decaying he had no concern and did not refer us to any emergency care. My sister who worked at a Emergency Vet center came to look at it as we were concerned our dog was in pain and her side was melting off, we had to rush her IMMEDIATELY to an emergency Vet center. We found out from some of the top vets in the country that the surgery had been all wrong, the wound had become infected with a bacteria that was very aggresive, this bacteria had setup on the inside and was not from exposure here. Despite the efforts and to avoid further suffering, and the only option left would be having to cut the dogs side off and try to let it heal from the inside out, we had to put her to sleep! Now our cat who also went to Elk Creek for a wound in his side (prior to our dog) where they stiched it up and gave antibiotics, suddenly had his side split open again and puss run out, the emergency vet service had to do surgery to remove infection and debris not cleaned out before when it was cut, and the infection had bullt up and spread over time to a large area, the cat will recover thankfully but has a nice large scar from its side down the inside of its leg. The cause is not cleaning the wound originally and just sowing it up.
