By far the worst customer service I've ever received. Project wasn't finished on time, they only worked on the project 4.5 hours one day and 5 the next. I was told by Liz, the office manager "We don't need your business and if I would have known you needed it done by a certain time I would have told you to go somewhere else." It's very evident why they can't complete jobs onetime, they only work half days. Every correspondence took 2 emails and sometimes even a phone call to get a response too. When the job wasn't completed on time we were only offered excuses and never an apology. I agreed to pay upon completion even though I found that odd, as all other contractors I've worked with invoice after the completion of the work but I needed the job done so paying immediately wasn't a problem. But when the project was finally completed at 5:00PM , 5 days late, my office staff had left for the day so we were going to put a check in the mail the next morning, Marc went belligerent on one of my employees. He later apologized for the way he behaved but left my employees feeling so uncomfortable that they aren't welcomed in our building again. I received an email from Liz "threatening" to call the state and demand the inspector hold the Permit approval until they were paid in full. Seemed crazy to us as we aren't the type to not pay our bills but after our experience I can see why they have to demand payment immediately.

Chose Res-Comm based on another user's high rating, boy was that a mistake! Really liked the owner, Ric Mueller, who came out and gave me an estimate for the lightning damage-at first. Apparently he didn't take very good notes for what was to be done because installer had no idea what was agreed upon. Installer was supposed to complete job in half day (repair, not a new system install). Installed the wrong system and ended up having to go to get parts for the system originally agreed upon. Ended up taking 2 days to complete the job, 2 days that I had to take off of work. Installer was late both days. Final job was at least $100 over estimate. I left 3 messages for Ric to try to resolve the issue and never got a call back. Receptionist refused to transfer me to Ric to resolve the issue. Was told they didn't make any money on the job because I didn't sign up for monitoring, despite the fact that the estimate was based on an existing system repair not a new system nor was the estimate contingent upon signing up for monitoring services with Res Comm. For the price, I think I could have gotten a whole new system and probably something a lot nicer! I really wanted to support a local business rather than going with ADT or Broadview, but it turns out the small companies can be just as hard to get your hands on the decision maker as the big ones. Bottom line: when they were trying to earn my business, they couldn't have been more responsive. At the first sign of trouble, I could no longer reach the person that gave me the quote/owner. Almost 30 days later, I still haven't gotten a call back to resolve the bill.
Response from RES COMM SECURITY
"The original quote given to Member had a base price of $920; this only included a control panel and three keypads. As stated on the proposal (due to lightning damage) once the control and keypads were changed out and the system was tested then the other devices (motions, door/window switches, and smoke detectors ect....) would be replaced on time and material per her approval. The proposal was based on Member having the monitoring service for $18 per month. Member paid $844 for her system which was less than what her quoted price was and decided that she did not want monitoring (which we did not end up requiring her to fulfill). We also gave her a "free" wireless key fob and paid the sales tax of $50.64. We returned all of her phone calls within 24 hours. The reason it took two days to complete was because we were going to put in a DSC system and upon arrival Member decided that she wanted an Ademco system. We had to make a trip to the supply warehouse and pick up the new equipment (at not additional charge to Member). It seemed Member did not understand the proposal she accepted. ADT and Broadview often have requirments to sign a long term contract with a monthly monitoring price of more than $20 per month. We do not require our clients to sign lengthy contracts or ones that self renew after the initial terms. We tried to work with Member but it seems that nothing we could do (besides possibly putting the system in for free) could have made her happy. We strive to make all of our clients happy and consider them as people rather than just another number."

They are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and helpful. They never seemed to get frustrated with me when I accidentally set an alarm off (as I got used to the system) or have tons of questions. I have no idea how large of a company they are, but it always feels to me like I am dealing with a small hometown company.
