Preferred Roofing

The owner, Jim Brewer, came to our home and did an estimate. He came back and met with us to sign a contract on May 4th. He sat in our living room and, as it turns out, told us a bunch of lies. When no one showed up to start the job when we were told they would be here, we called. We were assured that they would get to our roof the following week which was once again a lie. They finally began work on our roof at 6AM on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The group that showed up, was there only to do gutters. It was a little over a week before anyone else showed up to work on the roof. Once again we had to call to see why they hadn't shown up yet and to tell the owner that they had left all kinds of debris and nails in our yard and driveway. The people who actually put on the roof have come twice and still aren't finished. Between their visits we had to call to see why they hadn't come back to finish. We were told that they hadn't ordered enough materials and we would have to wait. In the meantime, we were asked to pay the first 50% of our payment although all the materials hadn't been delivered yet. We paid that, expecting the job to be finished soon. In almost two full months the company has only worked on four occasions at our house. Our roof is on but only one door has been installed (poorly), the trim isn't completed, the soffit and fascia work is not complete. Also, because the gutter was put on before the roof, it already has scratches in it. Our driveway, porch and yard are still a mess. We have called Jim Brewer to see when they will be back to finish and to express our concerns only to be treated rudely with great disrespect. He also asked that we pay him half of the final payment and to write the check directly to him. This was not in the contract but we begrudgingly paid him again. We havent seen them in over a week and they have taken our shutters from our house. This entire time, we have never been contacted by Preferred Roofing to let us know they werent going to show up or get finished. We have had to continuously call to try to get some answers and then we are treated like idiots. Hopefully the job gets finished soon, our porch and driveway are cleaned up, and our shutters are returned, although we highly doubt it. We will just be glad when all this is over and we don't have to deal with Jim Brewer anymore.
