Our air conditioner quit working on a Wednesday. I have used A&B in the past to service my AC and Furnace and they have always provided good service at or below what other providers charge.  I called A&B on Thursday and they came out and checked the unit that day.  The service tech who came out was very professional and took me outside as he checked out the unit.  He showed and explained what he was doing as he checked the unit. He tried several things to see if the unit could be repaired and after several tests determined that the condenser was bad.  The AC has stopped working 2 times in years past.  A&D repaired it both times for a reasonable price.  Based on what the tech was showing me and the experience I've had with A&B in past, I was confident that his diagnoses was accurate.  Friday, A&B gave me a quote for a new unit.  My brother-in-law is an HVAC guy but not local.  I called him to see what I should pay for a new unit.  A&Bs price was right at what he said a fair price would be.  Saturday morning Don from A&B came to my house and measured to ensure that he was ordering the correct parts and ordered the unit.  A&B installed it on Monday.  The new unit works great.  I couldn't be more pleased with the service and the product.

Excellent. I had several bids from different companies and chose A & B for their prompt response, professionalism, and customer service. From the minute Ben Arther arrived at our home it was evident he had extensive knowledge in the heating and air-conditioning business. He spent quite a long time looking at our extisting unit ,measuring and analyzing what unit(s) that he felt would give us excellent performance and maximum benefit all while saving costs. There was never any "hard sell" or pressure from him to pick a unit at a certain price point and in the end he quoted prices for three different air handlers and heat pumps At no time did I feel pressured to choose the most expensive option but he did give explanations of what each option would provide. There are so many things were impressive about this company. I had a quote and paperwork for all options the same day. Ben followed up with a phone call very promptly and got us on the schedule very quickly. He even offered to try and get us cool air as our old unit stopped cooling before our appointment date. The two men that came to install the unit arrived right on time installation day. Again, They were friendly, respectful, clean and thorough in their work. Ben was at our house twice to check their progress and see if We had any questions. When they were finished they walked us through everything they completed and showed us how to program the new thermostat. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Ben even came back the next day to drop off the proper paperwork for the tax credit we will be filing. It is evident that this company definitely works as a team.

I had 4 bids and selected A&B because of the sales experience and the reputation for reliability of the equipment (American Standard). 

I cannot say enough good things about my A&B experience and I am typically very tough to please.  The sales experience was outstanding.  Ben Arther (sales) was always punctual and I sensed his intergrity/professionalism immediately.  Don Jones, (owner) came the first day to meet with Ben and the install crew (Ian/David) to plan the best install, correcting errors/code violations made 16 yrs ago by previous HVAC contractor, thereby maximizing the efficiency of our new system.  I was very impressed with their team approach and professionalism.  Ben was in and out over the course of 2 days, including the last 6 hours through the evening (until 1030pm) to help any way that he could.  The installers were great, consummate professionals.  They treated our home with the utmost respect and eager to make sure that I was absolutely satisfied.

I just know it was astronomical. It took at least 3 or 4 times to come out to fix the same problem. They charged every time. I think totally it was $950.

"I find it strange that the customer would complain of a bill that they do not recollect the correct amount and it is almost 2 years old and remains upaid. The work was performed in 2013 and they are now complaining?? The equipment is a very old and filthy oil furnace with little or no previous maitenenance performed which the customer was informed the equipment should be replaced. The customer could not afford a new furnace and was without heat during a very cold evening so the owner had the repairs completed at NO CHARGE!. The customer then requested to have a maintenance plan issued on the equipment which consist of a clean & service. Unfortunately the bill still remains unpaid to this date which A&B has not turned over for collection knowing the situation with the customer's finances. We find this entire complaint with no merit and ridiculous since repairs were performed properly and the customer was left with heat in their home at no cost to them but the maintenance they requested remains unpaid for over 2 years...."

I had two criteria for selecting a heating and air conditioning contractor for the HVAC equipment in our remodeled home we purchased a year ago: First, the contractor had to be factory certified to work on our make of equipment, namely, American Standard. Second, the contractor had to have a very favorable rating on Angie's List. A & B Heating and Air Conditioning met both requirements. I was pleased with the professionalism of the appointment scheduling by telephone. And, when the scheduled service day arrived, the technician arrived on time and introduced himself. Also, the technician communicated his approach to the job (namely, to find out and correct the source of a noise in the equipment and also provide seasonal tune-up) and was very polite and respectful in answering my questions. The problem turned out not to be a problem. Nonetheless, the system was checked-out and the work was itemized on the invoice. The charge of $85 was most agreeable. The technician made a closing pitch for an annual service contract but politely accepted a "not at this time" response from me and then departed. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service from A & B and I would not hesitate to call them again for my HVAC needs.

This project started with Mr. Jones, owner of A&B Heating & Air Conditioning, plus an assistant doing a complete site survey at my home to gather room size, window count and location, as built materials, etc.  A meeting was then held between me and Mr. Jones to present and explain his proposal for the removal and replacement of two air conditioning systems within my home.  This quotation was very professional and clearly described the equipment and work that he was proposing along with optional items I could onsider.  I ultimately accepted this proposal based on the detail and clarity of the proposal, the price quoted and the overall company eputation.
Work began as scheduled with Mr. Jones accompanying his installation crew to ensure they understood project details.  Mr. Jones and the lead installer, Ian, did a complete walk through of the project to ensure my expectations and concerns were addressed before work began.  Ian and his helper worked very efficiently and completed the project on the time schedule as discussed.  I felt that all personnel involved were very respectful of my home and took extra care to minimalize any dirt, dust, or disruption.
Following the installation, Mr. Jones scheduled another meeting to inspect and review the installation. Although I was very satisfied with everyone’s work, Mr. Jones spotted several items that he wanted to improve upon and they have since been corrected. 
I feel Mr. Jones and A & B Heating and Air Conditioning exceeded my expectations on this project and I would highly recommend
them.  I will certainly consider them for any HVAC work I might have in the future.

The problem was a gas furnace not lighting.
Technician Randy showed up on time. He was courteous, looked sharp and did a competent, efficient troubleshooting. I appreciate his friendliness and willingness to explain what he was doing as he went.
He soon found the problem. Turned out not to be the induction motor, which would have been more expensive, but just the attached capacitor.  He had the part in his truck. A quick swap and all was well.
The only bad side of the experience was the price of $378 (includes the $85 service charge), which for 45 minutes and a simple part swap seems like too much. Without others to compare it to, though, I cannot really say.
This was in our church building, so with seven heating units we are bound to need service again. I may try another outfit in the future in an attempt to lower costs.

It was another one of those sweltering weekend days and they came out in less than an hour of my call and my a/c was working within 45 minutes. The technician explained the problem, what he did and why in a way that I, a non-mechanical person, easily understood. Very pleased with the service & results ..... strongly recommend this company.

When we  noticed problems with our Air Conditioner we have immediately started our thorough research for a HVAC unit ,and for a company that was able to deliver the job in a professional and courteous manner. For the best HVAC unit we checked with the Consumer Reports and for the best business in the area we looked into all the Angies’s List reports. During this process, we learned that installation is as important as the quality of the product. As soon as we zeroed in a few companies we had their representatives interviewed. The Business that impressed us the most and bypassed all competition by a lot on the assessment of the job, recommendation and total cost, was A&B  Heating and Air Conditioning. Having the badge of honor “Customer Care Dealer”, A&B are experts in installing the Consumer Reports’ best rated product available on the market – American Standard. Although the installation  job presented some complications along the way, A&B representative Ben Ahler. raised to the occasion and with the highest professionalism we encountered, he solved every aspect of the project in a way that completely justifies the rarely awarded “Customer Care Dealer” title. It has been almost two months since the installation, and we can not be any happier. The system AC/Furnace is running smooth, and we noticed a big decrease in our electric/gas bills due to the high efficiency selection recommended by Mr. Ahler. The temperature on our second floor dropped considerably. Thank you A&B and kudos to you Ben Ahler for a job well done !!!

A/C stopped working on a Saturday.  This company was recommended to me by a friend as well as another company that no longer provides services in my area.  I called and was able to get someone to come out within a few hours.  The weekend service charge was $127.50, which was reasonable considering it was Saturday.Jerry showed up and took about an hr checking out the A/C and such.  He then explained that we had a leak in the freon and were 3 lbs low.  The pipe fitting apparently was the wrong type for this A/C.  My house is 6 yrs old and this is the original unit installed by the builder.  So, the plan included replacing the pipe fitting, pumping out the freon, and then replacing it (adding in the 3 lbs it was low).  The charge to do this was $924.50.  I felt this was excessive and Jerry explained that it is a 4 hr job.  He presented other options that included just filling it with freon and waiting for it to drain again without doing the repair at $700.  Not much of an option, when we were replacing flooring in the house and it was 90 degrees outside.  Unless we purchased the 'maintenance plan' the cost of the freon was $283 for the 1st lb and then $49/lb thereafter.  I did not like the fact that the 'maintenance plan' was automatically included and without it, the charge for the freon was ridiculous.  I have no idea if other A/C service companies do this as well, but personally I think it is shady.

"By no means is the purchase of the maintenance agreement designed to be shady or a scam. The maintenance plan is not automatically included but is presented to the customer as an option. The customer not only saved $250.00 on the overall service charge by purchasing the agreement at a cost of $224.00, but the maintenance plan entitled the customer to an additional service of their heating equipment in the fall at no charge. The client also may opt out of the maintenance plan at any time."

Called many companies and everyone was booked for days or weeks.  This company was also booked, but the gal on the phone was the only one who offered any help. She said she would try to work us in as sometimes people cancel or one of their service people may get done early. Much to our surprise,she called back a few hours later and said someone in the area had finished early (it was already 5:00 on a Friday).  An hour later, a professional came out, quickly diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. He did not tell us we needed a new unit. Cleaning and a few pounds of freon was all it needed. It was in the mid 90's the next day(s)and we were cool and comfortable. The price was in line and there are coupons on their website (which the girl told me about!)

We have used A&B for several years for our yearly maintenance on the HVAC system in our house. Their work has always been top-notch, and this job was no exception. The sales person we used came to our house to discuss options with us and then returned a week or so later to deliver our estimates. He gave us a couple of options within our budget, but that would still be adequate for the size house we have. This salesperson also worked with us to submit the paperwork to the state of Kentucky and we were able to get a $400 energy efficient appliance rebate through the state. He also made sure we had the certificates and paperwork needed to claim the $1500 tax credit on our income taxes this year. On installation day, the A&B team arrived promptly, they protected our floors from dirt and grime from the outside and were very polite. This was a large job, and spanned 2 days. The second day, they were going to be later than they originally stated, but called to let me know. Following the installation, one of the technicians gave me a quick course in how to work the thermostat, how to replace the furnace filters and how to adjust the humidifier. Our new HVAC system works wonderfully, and it's certainly been getting a workout this year. The humidifier has gone a long way towards making our house much more comfortable as well. We had an extremely positive experience with A&B and give them our highest recommendation. They will tell you up front that they will not be the cheapest bid, but we found them to be very competitively priced, and feel like we got more than our money's worth.

I requested a bid from A & B to replace a 46 year old hot water boiler heating system with a new high efficiency unit. An appointment was set and the owner of company, Mr. Don Jones, arrived to review our needs. I was very impressed because I felt no pressure to proceed with this replacement. Mr. Jones reviewed my current system and he explained the various parts, what purpose they performed and whether they would be replaced or incorporated into the new design. I was very impressed by his knowledge and the amount of time he devoted to ensure I understood what he was proposing. After reviewing bids from two other companies, I selected A & B for my project. We set a date for the installation and Mr. Jones informed me of the sequence of events which would include a 24 hour period without heat. Mr. Jones offered to provide portable heaters for this period, which I accepted. These heaters did the job and kept us comfortable while we were without heat. Mr. Jones and his crew arrived on time and we all reviewed what work was to be done, where equipment was to be located and what precautions needed to be observed. The first thing they did was to lay drop clothes to protect my floors even though all work was done in the basement. The installation took a total of three days which was exactly what I had been told. The installation team consisted of two people who worked well together. They worked steadily, with no horseplay, and both seemed very conscious of safety – for themselves, the other worker and my property. At the end of the second day and for the third day, a third worker was present to complete the electrical work and perform the boiler start-up. The work crew then took the time to explain the system as they had built it, what indicators I should see during normal operation as well as those indicators of a problem. After the system had run for approximately 24 hours, Mr. Jones and a member of the service team stopped by to check the system and perform final tests. They spent a good amount of time documenting the installation, reviewing system operating parameters and performing combustion tests. They also reviewed the system operation with me. All in all, I feel that I received a very professional installation at a price which was lower than some of the big names. The system has performed as promised and the heat is immediate and even. I am very happy at this point and would not hesitate to use A & B in the future or recommend them to my family and friends.

During initial visit they took measurements of our house, located all windows and direction they faced, evaluated amount of insulation, number of appliances, people, etc. anything that adds to the heating & cooling requirements. They took this information and analyzed using a computer program to determine actual heating & cooling requirements. Results proved what we had suspected for years - that our cooling unit was undersized. Also determined that our existing heating unit was greatly over sized. We went from a 2.5 ton AC to a 3 ton and the heating unit changed from 100,000 BTU to 60,000 BTU. Our old AC unit it would run constantly and never truly get the house cool. The new unit has had no problem accomplishing thiseven though we have had a run of 90°+ days. We will find out about the heating this winter. Both units are American Standard. The installation went smoothly. The installers showed up on Friday morning and completed all the task required for that day. Our AC unit is a closet installation so there is very little room to work. New lines, new disconnects were included in the install. At the end of the day on Friday our AC was running. They then came back on Monday and completed all the remaining work in 1/2 day. Everything was cleaned up when they left. May have paid slightly more, but got what was right for our home. Everyone else just kind of guesstimated the requirements based on what was previously installed. They had also been servicing my old unit for years & always provided top notch service.
