Responded in a timely manner (next day). Showed up 40 minutes after calling (live in Morgantown) and went straight to work. Had the problem fixed in very little time.

One of their technicians damaged a part, and the company was going to charge me for that damaged part that they had to replace in order to make the furnace run. They did cancel out that extra charge from my invoice as I had requested after Angie's List intervened in their complaint process. After that, I just want to say I still would not recommend or use them again.

Sales representative was honest, professional, and courteous. Service technicians were prompt (didn't see them much since they were in the crawlspace replacing the heat pump).

When we were getting bids in from several HVAC contractors, Gra-Tac was participating in some type of program throught the electric company to get everything financed. The sales rep seemed pretty decent and all seemed to be ok from that standpoint. After the down payment and financing went through, they started to install the new unit and everything else that was to be done under the program. The unit and everything was installed ok but where the hiccup was where they were trying to charge me extra for insulation under the home. I refused to pay it because it stated in the contract that they were to be responsible for everything in the contract including insulation. Someone who was responsible for doing the insulation dropped the ball and did not order enough I suppose. So they try to stick me with the rest of it. I wrote them a letter and I never heard from them since (no check up of how the system was running..nothing) So then a few years down the road I call them because my A/C went out in the middle of the summer and they stated that they refuse to come out due to the fact that I did not pay for the insulation that they were responsible for in the first place. So not only did they refuse to honor their warranty but they wanted me to pay for insulation that they were supposed to take care of. The receptionist then proceeded to tell me about all the finance charges that I was liable for because I had not paid them for the small amount of insulation they were responsible for. They have been paid their amount that we agreed upon. I ended up having to call another contractor to fix my A/C. Gra-Tac is unreliable and cannot be depended on.

Gra-Tac's sales person ("project manager") was on top of things and didn't try to suggestive sell anything we didn't need, and actually talked us out of a couple of features we asked about--also that we didn't need. The technicians were courteous, punctual, and efficient. They even voluntarily put shoe covers on before coming into our house. Although we might have received a lower price from Hiller, a past experience with Hiller is what led us to Gra-Tac. The experiences were 100% opposite. The shabby job Hiller did on our unit when we called them to repair it last March is probably what led to the need for a full replacement of the unit--that and the fact that the contractor who built the house originally installed the cheapest heat pump unit he could (legally). The 10 SEER units weren't even being made anymore when they installed it in 2005, but the contractor clearly had some of those cheap units squirreled away somewhere and were installing them all over our neighborhood. Back to the point--Gra-Tac worked out well.

Recharging the AC -- the fellow they sent didn't have a clue. Wound up taking forever, had to call in reinforcements, and charged me way too much. There wasn't an issue with the unit, but rather their lack of know how. I am using a different service now.

I called for a quote after receiving an electric bill of $796. A representative came out within a couple of days and assessed my needs, budget and submitted a quote. I accepted the quote and scheduled work to be done within a few days. The team was very professional and completed the installation of my 2 Trane heating/air conditioning systems. The complete installation took two days .One system required some on-site customization, which was handled very efficiently, the result was satisfactory and I was not charged extra for any materials and labor. They also increased the size of my two air intake grills (agreed upon beforehand with nominal increase in price) and made some minor modifications to my ductwork. All of the technicians on my project seemed knowledgable and experienced and conducted themselves in a professional manner. A few days later I had a problem, on a Saturday night. I called the company after-hours number and a technician was dispatched to my home and he arrived within an hour. He immediately identified the problem, fixed it and to my surprise, seemed happy to be of service and assured me there would be no charge. Although I was initially hesitant about spending so much for my system, I am very pleased with the efficiency of the system and the ease of use in programming/reprogramming the thermostat. I was quoted three different systems, (good, better, best). I chose a combination of better and best, and I believe I made the right choice for my home and budget. I was very impressed with everyone within the company ...from the young sales rep who had clearly was knowledgable about his products and services, to the technician's who installed and have serviced the equipment. The receptionist I encountered on the weekend was very friendly and helpful and did not make me feel bad about requesting service on the weekend. My experience with this company was completely positive and I have recommended this company to friends and family in the area. My latest electric bill confirms the efficiency of my new system.
