AI had been advised by the Chevrolet garage that my car had significant transmission problems. They estimated $3500 for them to install a rebuilt transmission. The car is an older car that my daughter drives in town only and I didn't want to put that much money in it. I looked on Angie's list for transmission repair shops. Bluegrass had a good rating and was close to home. They told me they could rebuild my transmission for $1800 in about 5 to 7 days. I instructed them to pick up my car (it had to be towed) from the Chevrolet garage and proceed. I called back in 4 days to check the status. They told me they were still working on it. Since we had other transportation I wasn't too concerned. After 7 days, I called again. They then informed me that the axles were both cracked on the car and they would have to replace them. Since I was unfamiliar with how the axles would relate to the transmission but needed the car fixed, I told them to go ahead. They instructed me to call the next day. I did and the car still wasn't ready. Finally the next afternoon it was ready for pickup. My total bill was $2160. About ten days later, the brand new tire I had put on the car 10 days prior to Bluegrass Transmission having it, was completed bald on one side only and the other tire was wearing as well. The tire guy I use said there had to be an issue underneath the car to cause that kind of quick wear and to take it back to Bluegrass. We did. They would not even look at it. I then took it back to a garage I had used in the past (but that doesn't do transmission work unfortunately). After checking the car out, he remarked on why both axles had just been replaced. I told him the transmission place had said they were cracked. He would not speculate about how that could have happened but did explain that the engine carriage would have been removed and put back in during the transmission repair. That alone could have gotten the car out of line but the axles being replaced definitely would have. His opinion was that Bluegrass Transmission should have instructed me to immediately have the car aligned to prevent the wear. So in addition to the $2160, I then had to replace two tires. Hopefully, my transmission work is good but I wish they could have extended the courtesy of at least checking the tire situation out when we returned.

Everything with Bluegrass Transmissions was fine. It's just what they said was going to be.

We were referred by our long-time primary mechanic, John Kirk, Center Street Auto Service, to Bluegrass Transmissions. We contacted them and were extremely pleased when they adjusted the clutch cable in my Nissan and didn't attempt to sell us something we didn't need. We also needed the transmission rebuilt, replaced or repaired in our Yukon. Again, they sent a tow truck for the vehicle and diagnosed that it had the rear shell out. We were given two options--one just to repair this particular part or a rebuild. We were so impressed that we chose to have the rebuild. They quoted a price, stuck by it and didn't try to add on anything else. Both of our vehicles transmissions are shifting better than ever and we would glady recommend others to this shop. And I would never take our vehicles anywhere else for transmission work! Overall, the work was exemplary, their prices competitive and their professionalism unparelled. We would recommend this shop to anyone!
