About us

My name is Randy Teegarden, founder of Teegarden HVAC, LLC. Our history started back in the late 1970’s, when I worked as a helper for a large heating and air conditioning company in Northern Kentucky. It was there that I was trained in installations, and started my training in service work. Not long after that, I obtained a position as a service tech with another company, running calls on my own. Through the years, I worked service for different companies, and advanced to a service manager at a union heating and air conditioning company in Cincinnati, Ohio. While I was there, I started and managed a residential heating and air department for that company. I was also instrumental in initiating a flat rate service for their technicians. Through my 35 years of experience, I am knowledgeable in all areas of service and installation, as well as light commercial, geothermal, and oil-fired equipment. I have licenses in both Kentucky and Ohio; and am ACE and NATE certified. In 2006, after much consideration, I started my own company, Teegarden Heating and Air Conditioning.

I am editing my review, not to retract my claim or change my story, but to be as direct as possible for anyone considering using this company. Please read thru. We hired this business to clean our smaller unit for our upstairs, and to service our unit for our downstairs as it had quit working. After being told a few parts that may need replaced on it, we opted for a new unit all together instead of patching it here and there and risking losing money on it if it were to go out completely later on down the road and be out even more money. At this initial visit, the service man repeatedly tried to sell us two new units and insisted we would want to replace both. I told him no at least three different times because the second unit for the upstairs was working fine. They returned one week later with our new unit for the downstairs. The men made several comments that made me uneasy and skeptical about their work ethics. After they left, we soon discovered that our upstairs unit had stopped working. My husband wanted to give Teegarden the benefit of the doubt and allow them to take a look at it and make it right, but I was too weary of the way that they conducted business. So we hired a different company to come take a look at it. I will not name this other company as Lee Teegarden called them liars and threatened to harass them during a phone conversation that I had with him. The new company was very thorough inspecting everything and finally realized that wires had been switched and that was why it wasn't working. So, it worked before Teegarden was here, quit after, and worked once more after this new business put the wires back in their proper places. It even says so on the invoice we received from the second business. Teegarden was only ever meant to clean that unit. It was working and they had no right to touch those wires, but I believe they switched the wires intentionally to try to sell us more business. Since this discovery I have asked for a refund of what it cost us to replace the wires back to normal, but Teegarden has denied any fault, accused us of being con artists, and is threatening to sue US! I believe they are super ****** because we were able to come up with proof of their shady business practices and want to silence us. But I have already been advised that it is my right to share opinions of our experience. And what's more, I have proof to back it up. I believe this company does know what they are doing. That's why they are able to take advantage of those they feel are vulnerable. I am also posting relevant reviews from various sites of people who had similar suspicions, but I am guessing had no way to prove it. These are all accessible via Google and Yelp, but I feel by posting them here in the photos as well, you can find all you need to know before you take the risk of hiring this company. At this time we are not pursuing legal action as it may cost us more then what we are already out with this company. But it deeply concerns me that other individuals may be taken advantage of in a similar fashion, and this is an expensive lesson to learn! Me Teegarden has accused us of being con artists, but how? Both companies have been paid in full, and we have not asked for a free unit, or disputing the work that they did. We are only asking for a refund of OUR money that they cost us by their illegal and dishonest practice.

"This customer seems to have a problem with facts and changing them. The facts are as follows. We completed a service call for the customer originally where they had two equally old and inefficient systems in their home. One had to be replaced, and our technician recommended replacing the other one at the same time because of the change of refrigerant to 410A and the fact that the new system will save around $500 a year on their utility bills vs the old system, which means it pays for itself in savings over trying to stretch the life of the old system. This comment concerning our installers character and work ethic during the installation is strange. We installed the new system and cleaned their old system, which worked fine from July 15th to Friday August 3rd. Even though they apparently didn't trust us, they called on a Friday at 1130 pm to demand a free service call on their old system. When they were told there is no warranty on their old system, they threw a fit. On that call the husband claimed we must have sabotaged the system. However, there are no wires to cross on a system that will allow it to work for over two weeks, then allow it to go bad. Not to mention our company is of the highest integrity and would never do something like that. This customer has since claimed they have had another company there claiming we reversed wires, which once again could not possibly be the case and have over two weeks of operation. They have not presented and invoice, the name of this company, or anything but their hearsay to back up their claim. They are con artist looking for a free service call. The money means nothing to us, but our integrity does. They will receive nothing because we have done nothing wrong and they know it."

Russell arrived 2 hrs earlier than expected (fantastic!), went right to work, found out the issue was a clogged & dirty filter which we replaced; and he advised me on some other points. Very direct, pleasant, and I appreciated that he didn't try to sell me on any additional work or a new HVAC, since mine is about 18 yrs old. Low-key, just fixed the problem, and said, "Call if you need anything else." Thank you, Russell, for a professional approach, and my heat is fine now. But I'll definitely call them in future, and feel confident that I'm not being ripped off. That's worth a lot in itself.

The first time, Mr. Teegarden diagnosed the problem and fixed it quickly and efficiently. I could tell the difference between his service and that of one of the bigger shops who send inexperienced techs out and don't really know what they're doing. The second time, my problem was also fixed very quickly and inexpensively to my full satisfaction.

They showed up on Wednesday August 24th just as promised. We weren't really sure what to expect but were surprised that they brought several people and really went at it. They were replacing the air conditioning unit outside and also the heating and cooling unit inside. They also let us know that the venting would be a little different than the first system as it was much more efficient a system and explained what it would look like. We also found that the existing cable for the existing furnace was short on conductors and would be close to impossible to replace as we have fixed ceilings in our basement. They however let us know about an option for a different thermostat that could utilize the existing cable. It did cost a bit extra but we are so happy with it as it turned out to have some great features we can take advantage of. They actually made a special trip up to the Trane supplier to get the thermostat that very day so we could be up and running. The system was up and running before the end of the day and just before it got hot again. At the end of the day we are very satisfied with both the manufacture of the system and also with Teegarden.

I used Teegarden only because my homeowner's warranty company said I had to.   I had already had another company come out and explain the problem.  I waited 2 days after my first call to Teegarden and paid $65 for them to come and tell me what I already knew.  I had to call back the next day to get a quote to clean the boiler and schedule another trip.  They quoted me $495.  Waited another 3 business days.  They came to clean it but said they didn't want to do anything until the chimney was cleared out.  I told them I took time off work and they needed to clean it that day.   They stayed to clean it, but said it would be another service call fee for them to come out and turn it on after the chimney was cleaned. I agreed to that, but after they cleaned it out, they said they couldn't even put it back together until it dried out even if the chimney was finished.   Two more days went by, and my chimney work was completed Friday morning.   Teegarden was scheduled to come back on Monday.  Temps were dipping into the 20's over the weekend.   I called on Friday morning and begged that they come out since the chimney work was done by 10AM.   They said it was unlikely and Myia the scheduler would call me back by 2:30.  Never got a call back from Myia.   Stayed in a hotel over the weekend hoping my pipes wouldn't freeze as I now had been 10 days without heat.   Teegarden came back on Monday, put the boiler back together and turned it on.   They said the readings were abnormal and wanted to run it for 24 hours and come back Tuesday to recheck it.  Tuesday passed with no word from Teegarden.  I called again on Wed morning and was told they would come that day.  I said I needed 20 min to leave work and get there.   They called around lunch and said they were on the way.  I rushed home only to wait another hour before I called again.   They finally showed up and there were still abnormal readings.  They spent about an hour downstairs and told me they finally got the readings into the normal range, although they were still high.   I asked what they did and they said they needed to take it apart again because they had not cleaned one part of it good enough.   Final bill to me was $700.  In addition to the $495 original quote, they charged me $120 in labor and $85 in parts for the aluminum vent pipe that I insisted they change which probably cost closer to $40 if I had to guess.   I am not at all comfortable that my system is working correctly. On the way out, they suggested that I come downstairs periodically to check to make sure there are not flames coming out of the bottom of my boiler.  This tells me that they were not comfortable with the work they did either.

Although everyone I worked with was very nice and fairly knowledgeable, customer service is lacking and I have doubts about the quality of the job they did for me.

"Let me begin by stating that, for our customers best interest, we do not take the word of any other company, we run our own diagnostics. Secondly, our Technician advised you that you would need to have someone come out to clean your chimney so that the clogged chimney would not cause you to have a repeat issue. And if you were, in fact, aware that your chimney needed attention ( an issue you were told about from both us and that previous company), wouldn't the delay rest upon your own shoulders? We do our best to make sure our customers get serviced in as timely manner as possible, however we cannot be held responsible for delays when a customer fails to make the aforementioned preparations for their service call. As for the added expenses: these are charges you agreed to, why are they suddenly an issue now? Anyone who owns a system the age of yours should absolutely be checking for flame roll out periodically. Simply put, we did our very best to accommodate you under the circumstances. Thank you for your Business, Teegarden HVAC"

Called for a quote on a new system, Lee Teegarden came out explained and provided four options.   His pricing was very resonable.   After working with three other vendors researching the Trane heating and cooling systems he recommended we selected Teegarden.   On the day fo the installation the installers were here on time and were very professional.   At the end of the installation we weere shown and explained all of the wrok that was performed, how to clean the air cleaner we had installed, how to work the new thermostate.   We were very pleased with all of our experiences with this company and look forward to a long relationship with them.   We plan on using them for our preventiative maintenance.   Customer service is very important to us and we certanly feel that this company has and will continue to provide good service.   I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new HVAC or maintenance services.

Randy Teegarden, the owner, provided the evaluation and estimate.  He reviewed my existing system and made several good recommendations.  He presented me with three options for a new system and explained the pros and cons of each.  His pricing was very good.  When his crew showed up on the day we scheduled, they were right on time.  Very professional.  Put drop cloths on all floors where they would be walking or moving equipment.  All work was done in a timely manner.  They were very professional about their work and cleaned up after themselves.  The final price was exactly the quoted price.  No surprises.  Would recommend Teegarden to anyone needing HVAC work.

All went as expected.  I spoke with the office on Monday afternoon and they scheduled a visit for Tuesday morning.  The tech showed up and the job was complete within an hour.  He was polite and professional.  My home warranty is who provided the name and number for the company.  The $100.00 was my deductible for the home warranty.  I'm sure it would have been much more with the home warranty insurance policy.
