TEEGARDEN HVAC
About us
My name is Randy Teegarden, founder of Teegarden HVAC, LLC. Our history started back in the late 1970’s, when I worked as a helper for a large heating and air conditioning company in Northern Kentucky. It was there that I was trained in installations, and started my training in service work. Not long after that, I obtained a position as a service tech with another company, running calls on my own. Through the years, I worked service for different companies, and advanced to a service manager at a union heating and air conditioning company in Cincinnati, Ohio. While I was there, I started and managed a residential heating and air department for that company. I was also instrumental in initiating a flat rate service for their technicians. Through my 35 years of experience, I am knowledgeable in all areas of service and installation, as well as light commercial, geothermal, and oil-fired equipment. I have licenses in both Kentucky and Ohio; and am ACE and NATE certified. In 2006, after much consideration, I started my own company, Teegarden Heating and Air Conditioning.

"This customer seems to have a problem with facts and changing them. The facts are as follows. We completed a service call for the customer originally where they had two equally old and inefficient systems in their home. One had to be replaced, and our technician recommended replacing the other one at the same time because of the change of refrigerant to 410A and the fact that the new system will save around $500 a year on their utility bills vs the old system, which means it pays for itself in savings over trying to stretch the life of the old system. This comment concerning our installers character and work ethic during the installation is strange. We installed the new system and cleaned their old system, which worked fine from July 15th to Friday August 3rd. Even though they apparently didn't trust us, they called on a Friday at 1130 pm to demand a free service call on their old system. When they were told there is no warranty on their old system, they threw a fit. On that call the husband claimed we must have sabotaged the system. However, there are no wires to cross on a system that will allow it to work for over two weeks, then allow it to go bad. Not to mention our company is of the highest integrity and would never do something like that. This customer has since claimed they have had another company there claiming we reversed wires, which once again could not possibly be the case and have over two weeks of operation. They have not presented and invoice, the name of this company, or anything but their hearsay to back up their claim. They are con artist looking for a free service call. The money means nothing to us, but our integrity does. They will receive nothing because we have done nothing wrong and they know it."

I used Teegarden only because my homeowner's warranty company said I had to. I had already had another company come out and explain the problem. I waited 2 days after my first call to Teegarden and paid $65 for them to come and tell me what I already knew. I had to call back the next day to get a quote to clean the boiler and schedule another trip. They quoted me $495. Waited another 3 business days. They came to clean it but said they didn't want to do anything until the chimney was cleared out. I told them I took time off work and they needed to clean it that day. They stayed to clean it, but said it would be another service call fee for them to come out and turn it on after the chimney was cleaned. I agreed to that, but after they cleaned it out, they said they couldn't even put it back together until it dried out even if the chimney was finished. Two more days went by, and my chimney work was completed Friday morning. Teegarden was scheduled to come back on Monday. Temps were dipping into the 20's over the weekend. I called on Friday morning and begged that they come out since the chimney work was done by 10AM. They said it was unlikely and Myia the scheduler would call me back by 2:30. Never got a call back from Myia. Stayed in a hotel over the weekend hoping my pipes wouldn't freeze as I now had been 10 days without heat. Teegarden came back on Monday, put the boiler back together and turned it on. They said the readings were abnormal and wanted to run it for 24 hours and come back Tuesday to recheck it. Tuesday passed with no word from Teegarden. I called again on Wed morning and was told they would come that day. I said I needed 20 min to leave work and get there. They called around lunch and said they were on the way. I rushed home only to wait another hour before I called again. They finally showed up and there were still abnormal readings. They spent about an hour downstairs and told me they finally got the readings into the normal range, although they were still high. I asked what they did and they said they needed to take it apart again because they had not cleaned one part of it good enough. Final bill to me was $700. In addition to the $495 original quote, they charged me $120 in labor and $85 in parts for the aluminum vent pipe that I insisted they change which probably cost closer to $40 if I had to guess. I am not at all comfortable that my system is working correctly. On the way out, they suggested that I come downstairs periodically to check to make sure there are not flames coming out of the bottom of my boiler. This tells me that they were not comfortable with the work they did either.
Although everyone I worked with was very nice and fairly knowledgeable, customer service is lacking and I have doubts about the quality of the job they did for me.
"Let me begin by stating that, for our customers best interest, we do not take the word of any other company, we run our own diagnostics. Secondly, our Technician advised you that you would need to have someone come out to clean your chimney so that the clogged chimney would not cause you to have a repeat issue. And if you were, in fact, aware that your chimney needed attention ( an issue you were told about from both us and that previous company), wouldn't the delay rest upon your own shoulders? We do our best to make sure our customers get serviced in as timely manner as possible, however we cannot be held responsible for delays when a customer fails to make the aforementioned preparations for their service call. As for the added expenses: these are charges you agreed to, why are they suddenly an issue now? Anyone who owns a system the age of yours should absolutely be checking for flame roll out periodically. Simply put, we did our very best to accommodate you under the circumstances. Thank you for your Business, Teegarden HVAC"
