I found Universal in the yellow pages of the local phone book. I tried researching them in more depth however they do not have a web-page. Universal was one of four companies I called for an estimate. The other bids/estimates were at a minimum $1000 more. Universal returned the estimate to us within 24 hrs of being contacted. The estimated included power washing the house prior to getting started, however since there had been so much rain prior to them starting the project they skipped the power wash. They were not able to start the job the day they had planned due to heavy rains the days before. Terry called to advise he was waiting a couple days to give the house time to dry out. When they were able to get started they scrapped the old paint away. Overall they did fine with this part except around one of the windows, but considering the condition of wood, paint previously that may be the best that could be done. The same day they put the first coat on. Days later they came back and put on the second coat of paint. They called and asked for feedback and my husband pointed out the areas we were not satisfied with. They came back and corrected to his satisfaction (spilled paint on one of the garage doors). They took the extra step of painting the second door as well. Overall they did a good job painting. They were not as careful or neat as they should have been. The day they started painting I had already left for work. My daughters black car was in the driveway. I wish they would have rang the door bell and asked her to move it or called. White paint droppings were all over her car. In addition we have a red brick home and white paint spots, and drips can be found in several noticeable areas. Due to the messiness I would be reluctant to use them again.
Description of Work: Universal Painting was hired for an exterior painting job. Specifically the white trim around our home needed to be painted. The old paint was taken off and repainted with same color.
